DM Kludde |
A sudden, soft click marks the dispelling of the arcane lock.
DM Kludde |
Shohiraj may praise herself lucky that she did, because she finds two separate magical traps on the door: one to ward the door against forceful intrusion, the other of a more general nature.
DC 30 DDV to disable
DM Kludde |
The traps are removed, though the door is still locked. A certain of keys opens the locks, though, and the way to the vault is open.
Rows of low shelves laden with scrolls, books, and the odd relic line this well-lit hall. At its far end stands a small fountain that emits a small amount of steam—enough to keep this dry room’s humidity constant. Six decorative columns, each one densely carved with animal imagery and fanciful whorls, stand along the walls, and a pair of lounging lizard statues rest on a dais at the north end of the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
322 tries to discern possible threats, but is too busy looking at all of the interesting items and statues and carvings...
DM Kludde |
Do you move into the room? Do you use stealth of any kind?
The Ambitious One |
The Ambitious will move in, still dressed as the (slain) Pathfinder...
DM Kludde |
The ambitious moves in, alone and an easy target...
322 - The Nameless One |
Still surrounded by the shadows, the nameless one moves stealthily into the room.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 4 = 25
DM Kludde |
Moving stealthily inside, the experiment watches from the sidelines as she suddenly sees two pairs of googly eyes staring at the ambitious from the back of the room. In concert, two shapes - previously cloaked - become visible on the pillars as two stony chameleons start to move. As if one cue, the two lizard statue come alive as well, ready to fend off the intruders.

stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27

Silently, the experiment moves around the bookcase to lay her hand on the closest chameleon, channeling negative energy from the void of the Tapestry into it and sucking life away.

Rataji sneers and casts a spell; he points at Marnarius, then flings his arm toward the room. Immediately, Marnarius' body flies through the open door and turns the corner, positioned for an attack.
Standard action: Cast telekinetic charge - Marnarius can spend an immediate action to make an attack with a +2 to the roll
Move action: As indicated on map
DM Kludde |
These are foo creatures, stone guardians that can come to life, and which often move in pairs. ([ooc]Seems like all they ever wanted was a brother. You get two questions.)
The professional pounces on the nearest chameleon, and smacks down hard with her sap, while the experiment tries to sap the life from the other one. Rataji aid Marnarius on his attack.

Joliryn - The Artist |
Sorry for the delay

322 will move away from the dead chameleon and along the wall towards the lizards. As she moves she blends with the shadows, trying to remain hidden. Once in position, she casts detect magic and concentrates on the living lizard statues...
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 4 = 25
DM Kludde |
Whoops, sorry
The Foo creatures move in pairs, and while they are within 30 feet of each other, they benefit from a protection from evil. At will, they can turn their skin into a rocky outer layer, which hampers movement, but does give them extra protection (hardness 10). The chameleons have long tongues that they can lash out with, while the lizards can perform an intimidating charge, that may demoralise (If the target fails a will save).
322 slinks into the shadows, and detects the presence of magical auras. (The detect magic spell needs several rounds to focus down (see the spell description)).

Ah, sorry - I thought I had posted for Rataji. My mistake.
Rataji examines the situation and decides that force is the best option. He casts a spell, his mouth opens in a silent scream.
Not an action: 5' step, as indicated on map
Standard action: Cast ear-piercing scream on eastern lizard (3d6 sonic damage and dazed 1 round, DC 16 Fort save halves damage and negates daze)
Ear-Piercing Scream: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) = 13
DM Kludde |

Zurj tries blinding the thing as it arrives!
Will 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Joliryn - The Artist |
Does blue take an AoO for moving past Joliryn like that?
AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 for: 1d3 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (2) = 10
Joliryn reacts to the creature's bite by drawing mystic energy from the ether, channeling it into her weapon. Swift action: gain +1 enhancement bonus and shocking for 1 minute
Then, speaking an arcane incantation, she shapes a mass of telekinetic energy and blasts it down her blade as she swings at the rear (yellow) creature.
Spellstrike, force punch: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 12 + 1 = 23 for: 1d3 + 5 + 1 + 1d6 + 1d6 + 7d4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 + (5) + (5) + (4, 4, 1, 3, 4, 3, 3) = 39 and DC17 Fort save or be pushed back 10 feet
Experienced Adventurer |
According to Charge description and CMD in Combat chapter of Core Rulebook it gets penalty.
Marnarius rushed forward and stroke the lizard with his longsword.
Atk (-PA): 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 13 - 2 = 22 dmg (+PA): 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 = 11
Rataji - The Leader |
Smiling, Rataji steps back and points his fingers at the lizards. He speaks an arcane phrase and, with a loud peal of thunder, a lightning bolt flies through the air towards the far wall.
Not an action: 5' step, as indicated on map
Standard action: Cast lightning bolt in a 120' line directly east of him
Lightning Bolt (DC 18 Reflex save for half): 7d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4, 5, 6, 3) = 27
322 - The Nameless One |
322 taps into the unthinkable void between the stars to cause one of the lizards (yellow) to become confused for 7 rounds. (DC17 Will negates)
DM Kludde |
It does get a penalty for charging, and it does draw an aoo
The ambitious manages to blind the lizard as it charges by, and Jorilyn manages to scratch the surface of the creature. She then turns to the other lizard, and her forceful spell hits home hard, sending pebbles flying through the room. It holds its ground, and also manages to resist the dark thoughts intruding its mind.
The vengeful stabs the first lizard when a loud roar announces a botl of lightning, one that neither lizard manages to avoid.
Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

The professional's blow nearly knocks the lizard out, and it is looking groggy and confused.
The blinded lizard snaps in the air, then thrashes its tail about, hitting Marnarius.

Combat over!
Though the notes aren't immediately apparent (Perception check to search, takes 5 minutes), there is a magical staff, and Marnarius' weapon is here as well: a display case containing three weapons has Marnarius' among them.
The first is an obsidian-bladed scythe with a mahogany handle. The second is a heavy flail made of magically hardened gold and whose head is molded like a roaring tiger skull. The third is a serrated, single- edged longsword made of green-tinged metal.
You tell me which one is yours (in other words, you get to choose which one it is)
