Swayaah and Myrd try to drive off the monkey, which screech as Myrd throws a pebble. Fortunately for him, the stones didn't hit - that would surely have driven them into a frenzy!
Awaiting the main roll...

I am assuming those Charisma aids also count as untrained Handle Animal aids. I did not include the Wild Empathy aid--I'll leave that up to the GM.
Handle Animal, 2 successful aids: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 27
Adowyn clicks her tongue. Hey now, little fellas. Why don't you scamper off and leave us to our camp. We'll be out of your way soon enough.
DM Kludde |
Just as the baron was about to step out and start whacking the monkeys, Adowyn moves in and gently manages to get the creatures to disperse and leave the map. Huh, the baron says, surprised at so much influence over the animal spirit I suppose that works as well.

I'll post more tomorrow. In the meantime, can you all try and add your init and icon to the map linked above?
DM Kludde |
The safari moves onward for another round of hunting, then continues on the main trail. Suddenly, something seems to have startled the big elephant, which begins to stamp about wildly, threatening to shake the howdah off its back.
Inspecting closely, it seems to be a nest of baby snakes that has startled the elephant. A large cobra - apparently the mother - hurries back to the nest.
The baron starts shouting orders Protect the porters from that large snake! Don't let it get close!. The count, on the other hand, shouts conflicting, slightly panicked, orders Calm this elephant! We'll get thrown off, calm it down!
Handle animal checks to calm the elephant. Chase away baby snakes to make the check easier, or calm the elephant using spells.

Putting Myrd on delay
The elephant's startlement grows to a full-blown panic, and the pachyderm runs off. Quite quickly, it gets its legs stuck between the roots of a tree and falls over, throwing off the howdah and sending the Baron and the Count crashing down. A sickening cracking sound makes the adventurers hope that was only timber, but there is no sign of movement under the heap of wood.

It takes a while to dig out the Baron and the Count from under the rubble of the splintered howdah, but eventually the party manages. Though the Count looks thoroughly shaken, the Baron is a lot calmer, and looks at the porters, then at Zahir: you did well defending these men. That large snake could have been a lot of trouble. You've shown yourselves true men of valor.
A few hours after the encounter with the snake, the group reaches a place where a small stream crosses the trail. This is the place the baron explains we were following this stream me and my followers were moving along when that tiger ambushed us five years ago. It is here we should break off and find the hunting grounds of the tiger.
This is where I head off the count says. I will take the elephant, it is need of some care, and I will guide the porters to safety as well. There's a hunting lodge about half a day from here. We will wait there until you have finished your hunt.
You have the feeling you're being watched. Stalked almost
The jungle opens up into a wide grassy clearing bisected by a shallow, burbling stream. In the center of the clearing lies the partially eaten carcass of a gaur. Its throat has been torn open, and the grass all around the dead bison is covered in dried, sticky blood.
Perfect! The beast is here for sure! the baron exclaims this is where we should set up our ambush of the tiger!
There are plenty of hoof tracks in the area, but no tiger footprints.
Pointing this out will allow anyone to make a K(Arcana) check
We'll set up a machan in that tree over there, and over there the baron says as he points to several trees surrounding the clearing.
A machan is a type of portable hunter’s blind. The machans are mounted 20 feet up in the lower branches of the trees and camouflaged by branches and leaves. A machan can hold up to three medium creatures comfortably, though it is not sturdy enough to provide effective cover during combat.
We'll climb into them and wait until nightfall. Do not descend once night has fallen, or you might come face to face with the creature, and do not make any light!
Feel free to place your icon in the position you want to be in.
