Tyrion Wyrmbane |
"Well done! Now let's go hunt a chicken!" Tyrion says as he runs after Halmont.
Tyrion has 50ft of movement atm, scent still going to try and track the silly runner. Is it a normal one way tunnel or are there multiple passages somewhere that I need to make tracking rolls?
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tess moves down into the room, and follows the others as they head out after their target.
DM Kludde |
The secret passage from Halmont's apartment leads to a series of tunnel. The party was sure t have lost Halmont there, were it not for Tyrion's spell. With ease, he tracks and catches up with the fugitive. He is just in time to see him swallow something before he corners him.
Stop! Stop! You;re making a mistake... You don't know who you're dealing with - I can make you rich if you let me go... Halmont pleads.

The poor man is not puking up anything, but he is starting to turn a bit blue.
On a side note, he is still holding those ledgers, and he is willing to talk - just unable to do so right now.
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
Tyrion takes his fist out of the mans mouth and shakes the fist twice to get rid of any mucus.
"Right, so talk!"

Tessara Omelion PFS |
"Halmont, you sneaky so and so. We know what you've been doing! Who are your allies in this betrayal? ". Tess waits for Hailey's review of the ledgers before asking him anything else.
DM Kludde |
I have money! I have friends! I can help you get whatever you need... Halmont says to Tyrion. Upon Tessara's question he says you know I cannot give those names - my life would be forfeit if I did!
The ledgers are incriminating, but somehow you get the feeling the Major would want more.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
"We are going to ransack your house and find the information ourselves, so why don't you simply cooperate and make this easy on everyone?"
Diplomacy 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
"Please Tessara, allow me." Tyrioon says politely to her.
He turns to Halmont and puts on his friendly face, which is the same as his normal face, but the tone of his voice is friendlier. "Tell me what you know Halmont and maybe we can make a deal of sorts. You are going to prison either way. Cooperate and we can make it a luxurious and possibly a short one. We will also make sure you are protected from your enemies. There are things as witness protection you know. Give you a new name and face and a lovely home by the beach. You have my word as an inquisitor of Abadar."

I see. The game is up. I have a chest of documents in my basement. That should contain all the material you need. Names, dates, amounts.
Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
I think he also has to roll against discern lies, but not sure how that works. Otherwise Tyrion should still know him to be lying
-Posted with Wayfinder
Grok Earbiter |
No roll needed you just know he is lying with discern lies.
DM Kludde |
The man is, in fact, not lying at all.
Discern lies doesn't tell if he's omitting something.
Hailey |
"Then I suggest you show us your chest and open it for us and we will look it over to see if it contains what you say. Also..just to inform you..if it contains something more..let's say..a trap of some sort ...we will not be pleased."
DM Kludde |
Th eparty moves back to Halmont's apartment, and sure enough, the indicated chest is present in the home's basement. It contains very incriminating documents, showcasing a large corruption conspiracy in Andoran, including this Halmont, as well as several of his allies. The ledgers he carries further incriminate him, leaving little to be desired in terms of evidence.
It is not at all clear, though, where he keeps the funds that he must have gained.
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
"Very well, this should do nicely. So what did they offer you for your betrayal Harmont? Land, titles, gold? Remember those items are evidence and we will need to hold them in order to put those responsible behind bars. In case of materialistic items, I am sure the Andoran government will return them to you after the trials."
bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
sense motive + discern lies: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
I think that the government will keep it, so a bluff unless Tyrion knows they wouldn't. Then a diplo with +2

DM Kludde |
Riches. I can give you those riches if you just let me go. Take this evidence, and take down whoever you want. You can have my deposits at Abadar, if you promise to let me go. Halmont plays his final card.
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
The idea of bribing greatly angers Tyrion. And it shows in his voice and demeanor. He almost shouts at the man "You dare to bribe an inquisitor of Abadar?! I have given my life to punish the guilty and protect the just! Do you really think I would break that outh for mere riches?! You WILL tell me where that evidence is, Halmont or the deal is off! You will be brought to justice, but will be given no protection! See how long you survive if those whom you worked with know who betrayed them!" intimidate: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22

DM Kludde |
Easy! Easy! You've got all the evidence. Halmont shrinks an inch, maybe two, as the Inquisitor starts shouting. I've cooperated, you must keep your end of the bargain.
True enough, all the evidence is here, though the major will probably be very interested in those deposits as well.
Grok Earbiter |
Aid Intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
"Why don't you tell my friend where these deposits are. Or I might just show you what I did to your wind pet."
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tessara wisely keeps her mouth shut, seeing how much better the dwarf was at dealing with the traitor than she.
DM Kludde |
The violent threats of the party finally break the man - it almost looks as if his medication is wearing off. He leads the party to an upstairs office, silences his dog as it starts barking, and opens a drawer. He produces a key, and several more documents (that are worthless compared to the papers in the chest). This is all I have - my deposits at the church of Abadar. I am at your mercy now.
Fast-forwarding a bit...
Halmont meekly follows to be brought to Maldris. Will you have a moment? he asks, as he arranges for Halmont to be transported to Andoran.
You have done well, and provided me a great service. he says, as he returns.
“There are many who have flocked to Andoran’s freedom, yet in the passing years I have come to learn that a great number of these individuals see not love in our movement, but selfish opportunity. I fear that the direction our politicians have led, while on its surface seemingly inspired and courageous, has ventured little from the rule of our exiled nobility. Class warfare remains and much of our nation’s political power is controlled either directly or indirectly by the wealthiest members of our society. Many formal nobles who publicly renounced their titles, but privately held onto power. For these individuals, renouncing their titles permitted them even greater opportunity and upward mobility, especially those who worked their way into trade and politics.
“I find the irony of fighting tyranny and corruption as an agent of a government that harbors the tyrannical and corrupt difficult to stomach. We may have captured a few of the snakes, but there are at least ten more villains for each one we have brought to justice. As it struggles with itself, Andoran cannot combat tyrannies as it should, so I am stepping away from Andoren politics to deliver its unadulterated philosophies to other lands. I, and anyone who is bold enough to join me, shall remain enemies of slavery and tyranny, yet without direct national ties, we shall be able to engage in even more daring actions abroad and cleanse even my homeland of its malaise without the oversight of those we seek to purge!”
Kargen Hapspring |
Kargen nods at Rufus' words. "Major, I appreciate the sentiment. I want to fight tyranny wherever it rears its head. But this is a step we cannot come back from. If you declare this, you'll set off a internal struggle in the Andoran Pathfinder ranks, one that may ultimately weaken both the Pathfinder Lodge as well as Andoran since it could threaten to cause desertion among the Eagle Knights. I...I don't entirely disagree, I just want you to realize the repercussions of this."
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
Tyrion nods in approval. "A wise decision. I am sure the movement will grow when it is not bound by nationalities anymore."
-Posted with Wayfinder
DM Kludde |
I appreciate your concerns regarding the Eagle Knights. I am confident, however, that they see the importance of my mission. I am merely taking the fight against corruption to new stages - not abandoning the old ones. The fight against tyranny is borderless and timeless, and should be fought on all fronts. Are you with me?
The Major wraps up, and gently sees to it that the pathfinders are safe on their way.
On their way back to the lodge, the group is approached by a peddler, who has something to offer: I have here a precious amulet you may be interested in. She approaches and shows a silver amulet that depicts a scarab with feathered wings spread in flight. It is yours for twenty-five crowns.
Grok Earbiter |
"What is it and how did you come by it?" Grok looks over at Tyrion to see what the dwarf makes of this.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tess casts Detect Magic, as she admires the talisman.
Tyrion Wyrmbane |
"Hmm it looks Osiriany in origin. Do tell me good man. How did you come by this gem. If you can prove authenticity I may agree to the price." Tyrion asks interested.
So this is what Amenopheus asked me to keep an eye out for. I need to learn more.
DM Kludde |
This is a valuable piece of Osirian jewellery, but I don't need to tell you that. the woman explains. As to her supplier, she remains mum, ignoring the question.
The item is not magical.
You can roll appraise or K(Hist/Nobility), though

The amulet carries the symbol of an Osirian family that fled from Osirion to Absalom, to escape Qadiran occupying forces. The family disappeared nearly two millennia ago.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tess tells the others what she could remember about the necklace.
Rufus Tealeaf |
I was send to Absalon to work the Society. The church have more than enough members back home to defend the motherland. I suppose following Colson into this would be the natural step, I just hope he knowns what he is doing. The small halfling thinks scratching his chin.
Very well major, I am with you. He says saluting the eagle knight.
After the meeting he goes with the others back to the lodge and ends up tangled with the strange peddler.

The woman merely snorts at the idea 25 crowns to reveal my sources, are you mad? She does keep her voice down somewhat, so as not to be overheard by any of the many people in this crowded street.
