The Worldwound is a very dangerous place, and not only because it’s filled with powerful, ruthless beings out to destroy mortals, body and soul. Here the border between Golarion and the Abyss grows thin, allowing the chaos, evil, and madness of that realm to spill forth and corrupt everything in its path.

DC 20 K(Planes:

The corruption destroyed many plants and mutated others, giving rise to flora such as rageweed, whose pollen triggers short-lived but devastating allergic reactions.

Shadow Lion, Oleander, Jasmine and Mordack start hearing things... Little mutterings, soft whispers. These travelling companions... whispering derogatory remarks. Accusations, lies. Prejudice. Vileness. Treason.

Sir Ilivan stops his horse and slides from his saddle.

Shadow Lion and Mordack manage to control their thoughts, but Oleander and Jasmine feels an anger boiling inside, a rage aimed at their companions. Sir Ilivan, meanwhile, seems paralysed, awe-struck, curled up in a fetal position on the ground.

Finally, Oleander gets it together, but Jasmine flies in a rage.

She grits her teeth for this round, allowing the rest of the party to intervene, but next round she'll behave as if having rolled the 'attack nearest creature' effect of a confusion spell

While the other pathfinder prepare for tagging a helpless Sir Ilivan along, Shadow Lion manages to calm down the man. After talking for minutes, some sense finally comes back to the knight. I... he starts, looking confused I was afraid it would happen again.

It was during the fourth crusade. I was leading a platoon through a gorge when a shadow demon appeared. It took possession of me, I was not myself. I was just... watching from inside... while it killed two of my teammates. Reddle and Astain, their blood on my blade. The others, they manages to restrain me, but I had to endure the demons vile hatred, trashing around in my mind, on the long trek back, until a cleric of Iomedae managed to exorcise me.

After that outburst, Ilivan regains his composure, and says Well, enough here. This was just rageweed. Abyssal plants that spread pollen that cause confusion and aggressiveness. Let's go.

As the adventurers continue their trek, the ground beneath them begins to blister and form sickly pustules as large as 3 feet in diameter, coinciding with a light rain of human teeth.

Fleeing away from the wasp swarms, Sir Ilivan seems to be coming to an advanced insight. I am ashamed he says, but I feel like I am no longer up for this task. Your courage in the sight of danger, and your ability to make the right call... It has shown me how much I have started to lack these abilities.

Let this be my last mission. Let me show one last time what I am capable of. After that, I will offer my resignation.

The retreat from the wasps sets the pathfinders back quite a bit, but eventually the group manages to pick up the trail again. A dry, narrow gulch follows a dried-up creek bed appears to have been the site of numerous battles. Rusted weapons, broken arrows, and the occasional skull are strewn about the landscape. The walls of the gulch narrow, creating a natural choke point.

At the other end of the valley, a group of exhausted crusaders can be seen among several demons. One of the demons carries a fiery sword.

Pleased with her shot, Oleander reaches for another pair of arrows, endeavouring to repeat the shot with the fire demon. Between shots she steps forward again, slowly closing the distance, and trying to avoid getting to close to any allies.

attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 = 7
attack2: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 2 = 19

The first shot is rushed and poor. The second looks much more on target.

cold iron damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Coritca wields her bow, walks a bit forward and shoots, with the accuracy of a guiding birds eye, at the flaming demon with a cold iron arrow.
attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 2 = 22

Oleander takes a shot, and manages to hit the fiery demon from afar, just as another arrow cleaves the sky, and hits the demon straight between the eyes. It explodes in a rain of boiling blood, causing thick droplet of hot sticky goop to land on those standing near.

Smeared in blood, Sir Ilivan immediately rushes out as he spots a nearby group of approaching demons. Let me fend them off! A last stand in the name of Mendev! Single-handedly, he impales one of them on his lance, but it is only a matter of second before he is torn of his horse and killed mercilessly.

It is clear that this new group of demons i beyond any capability of the pathfinders. With no option but to flee with the rescued crusaders, the pathfinders trek back to the river road, and complete their tour. Upon returning to Nerosyan, Venture-Captain Jorsal and a representative of the Mendevian military await the group. Please make a full report, the military leader says, as he sees the absence of Sir Ilivan.

Congratulations, you've made it past the horrors of the world wound, back to safety in Nerosyan. Report to your VC while I prepare the chronicles...

"While on patrol, we met up with two groups of demons. One seemed to be intent on possessing local peasants. We resuced two, have they made it back? " Oleander starts.

"After the first group we arrived at the fort, to discover it had been attacked. While the fort had not fallen, the demons had taken captives. We followed, avoiding some horrible demonic plants that sent sprits of rage through us, and then some swarms of demonic wasps. Well, so they seemed at the time. Finally we caught up with the captives. The demons slew two, but we rescued six. "

She pauses at the end.

"Yet another wave of demons sprung upon us, and Sir Ilivan charged them, buying us all time to escape. He died a hero."

Liberty's Edge

Thaddaeus charges the demon, sword swinging in the air. He leaps from the ground and points his blade squarely at the demon's head just as an arrow sails passed his ear and strikes the unholy being between the eyes, killing it outright.

"Well done! I would have gotten there eventually!"
