Vrothum |
Vrothum drops his bow, draws his wand and moves closer to the action, preparing to casst a spell on himself before entering combat. I believe it's a standard action to draw a wand from your pack, If it's treated like drawing a weapon with BAB of 1 then I'll cast it on myself.
Idril Bladesong |
Hearing the cries of the captive peasants, Idril can no longer contain his rage. He draws upon his innate talents to infuse his dark blade with arcane energy and runs into the fray, contemplating his next action.
"We will do what we can for these people Valentynne, but we cannot let them stand in our way of destroying those...beasts."
Idril uses a swift action to activate his arcane pool ability, granting his blade an additional +1 then uses a double move to engage peasants with Valentynne.
Valentynne |
Gorum bless these peasants, I ask them to aim for the shield and I get my brow slashed open! Please allow them to always hit the soft ground beneath their feet while they are sowing, they could lose a toe with a hoe and this bad aim!
I'm planning on walking around all the enemies to pull AoO, (after getting my regen on). Unless anyone would benefit from being a larger size?
DM Elan Morin |
Rogar keeps studying the enemies and takes no action, possibly because of the moral dilemma the coerced peasants present for him.
Vrothum and Idril use their magics on themselves while Titus shot fails to hit the disguised Vermelek as its using one of the captives to cover itself.
Now it's clear who the Vermeleks are. The 3 bloated and snickering peasants driving the others in front of themselves. This is made even more evident when the 3 start to summon negative energy they unleash on Valentynne and Idril, while also healing their wounded companion.

These peasants are rolling high! @Idril: If willing you are under the effect of infernal healing.

Azrael the Talon |
From the distance, a human comes rushing in wielding kukri's in both hands. Dressed in predominately grey and black attire, with a white mithril shirt, the average build man moves with unusually swift grace across the land seemingly in a hurry to reach the crowd. Oddly as well, he conceals the lower half of his face with a mask shaped somewhat to make it look like he has a beak.
Be this man friend or foe?

DM Elan Morin |
Welcome on board Batpony!
Vrothum's claws open wide gashes upon the Vermelek's disguise. Unfortunately it's supernatural defenses are able to shield it from a good portion of the damage.
Titus tries to attack the demons as well, but his attempt does not yield the same results as Vrothum's.
Valentynne uses his powers to damage the demons. He summons negative energy as well but it manages to damage the evil outsiders despite them being normally healed by such energy!

Once the surviving peasants realize the demons are gone, they breath a sigh of relief and thrust bow low:"Please good knights forgive us for our behaviour but the demons were compelling us to obey them! We had no choice!"
Azrael the Talon |
Azrael is a man of few words, but understands emotion and body language. He attempts to read the survivors, judging them silently with his piercing eyes.
Sense Motive? Truthfulness?: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
DM Elan Morin |
Azrael is sure these people are telling the truth. The peasants invoke Iomedae and seem sincere in their contrition. They explain how they were abducted from their homes and brought here by the Vermleks. The demons ordered 2 of them to help torturing their fellow captives in exchange for their lives. They obeyed. You think the Vermleks were not much likely to keep their word.
It's apparent these peasants don't know much of use. Unless you have questions or want to do something specific, after a while they excuse themselves and start the long jurney that will bring them back to their homes and families. By the way, one of them is bleeding on the ground and might die in a few rounds. What do you want to do with him?

@Idril, I casted infernal healing on you, I don't know if it was taken into account in your current HP, it's been on since Round 2, I think.
Even after being saved by warriors, they still praise Iomedae, talk about fanatics. Yes, a divine paragon saying that xD
Valentynne mutters a small prayer, and the fallen human stops bleeding. Cast Stabilize.
"I'll make your friend stop dying at least, make sure that he arrives home. But you two, -he turns to address the commoners that landed their scythes on him- this battlefield needs you more than the land ever would, go back home, rest for a few days, and enlist in Queen Galfrey's army! You'll make great soldiers. Besides, there's no point in farming to provide for your family, if the demons win this war in the end."
Val drinks a potion of infernal healing, "I've got a few more of these if any of you want some, it sure kicks in fast with all this demon blood around us, hahaha."
DM Elan Morin |
After thanking you profusely for your help the peasants depart with their wounded companion in tow. The only thing left for you ro do is to get back to the horses and Sir Ilivan, who doesn't seem particularly apologetic about his previous behaviour:"I see you all survived" he notes flatly. "Let's get going, we've lost too much time already!"
The road leading to Fort Portolmaeus seems blessfully devoid of demons at least. You follow the River Road that climbs inland into low hills. At one point Sir Ilivan notes you just need a few more miles in order to reach the fort.
As the River Road winds back down through the hills,Fort Portolmaeus comes into view. Fort Portolmaeus sits on a tall rock outcropping in the West Sellen River, surrounded by rushing waters on three sides. A stout, stone bridge connects the fort to the river’s eastern bank, with a closed wooden drawbridge protecting the final approach. The keep itself is built of dark stone with tall curtain walls surrounding a squat central keep that peeks out above the outer fortifications. Portolmaeus has been the scene of a recent battle. Soldiers dressed in the colors of Mendev move around it making repairs, while others use carts to remove the bodies of humans and demons slain in the recent attack.
As you approach a patrol of four horsemen quickly moves to meet you, arrows knocked in their bows. They stop 60 feet away and call out:“Halt in the name of the Queen!”
Sir Ilivan tells you to keep your hands away from your weapons before raising both hands and calling out, “That the Black Prince might be redeemed”.
Upon hearing this passphrase, the soldiers lower their weapons and grimly beckon you to come forward.
At the head of the patrol is Sir Morgan, a stout warrior who introduces himself before asking about your business at Portolmaeus:"So... what brings you here? Given the circumstances I hope you are the vanguard of a much larger force..."
