Lem professionally and calmly begins an oral performance to inspire his comrades.
"OhmyGodwhatarethosethingskillthemkillthemkillthem!"
Inspire Courage up and running. +1 to hit, damage and (belatedly) saves vs fear.

Oloch, Harsk and Hakon turn the monstruosity called Andolf into mincemeat.
Feiya misses on her attack while Kyra and Lem strenghten themselves and their companions.
Despite the untimely death of their appointed leader the mites keep fighting on... by targetting the heroes with their darts!
Attack roll (red vs Feiya): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 -> Damage roll: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Feiya winces as the dart strikes her, muttering an incantation in retaliation she hurls a ray of enfeeblement at the closest mite.

Again her powers fail her as the ray veers off course, her hands trembling with fear and cold.

Harsk, Lem, Feiya and Olock miss their targets. Hakon and Kyra do not though. The agent of Sarenrae exibits herself in a complex battle dance ending with her scimitar bisecting the mite she was fighting...
@Hakon: the mite had cover against you but you managed to hit anyway
The last remaining mite snarls and slashes at Lem with its dagger...

DM Elan Morin |
Oloch, Lem and Kyra effortlessly dispatch the last of the mites.
As soon as the tiny mosnter falls down in a puddle of its own blood, the table’s mirrored surfacesuddenly reflects an old woman holding one of the silvery disks in each hand. In a whispering voice she asks:"Why have you come here? Why entering this den of hatred and fear? I'm so tired... Soon I will need to go but I sense I was held here for a purpose... why did you come into my house?"
Blake's Iconic |
"We're looking for a set of compasses," Hakon answers the apparition. "Etheric compasses."
DM Elan Morin |
"Ah! I see... and why do you search for such rare items in an old dilapidated and clearly haunted building? What reason compells you?" the ghostly apparition asks sounding distant yet keenly interessed to your answer...
Blake's Iconic |
"The scholar who hired us to seek them out believed that you had developed them. You are the spirit of the lady of this house, are you not?" Hakon answers.
Kyra PBP |
Kyra fingers her holy symbol, half presenting it as the conversation evolves.
Probably should just banish her, but we do need info."
DM Elan Morin |
"That I am... even if now that you have destroyed the creature who took my life I feel my essence slipping away from this place and being pulled... beyond" the spirit says answering Hakon.
She seems ready to departt but Harsk questions somehow capture her attention:"The source of evil! Yes... I was trying to do the same when... when it killed me! Please, oh please... find the dreamer and end its reign of terror. It IS evil and its influence IS spreading... even from the dead I can sense its alien mind reaching out and warping things with its unholy touch... Here! Take the compasses. They will help you! Just be careful... as my story proves, the dreamer can sense those searching for it and he's more than willing to kill in order to remain hidden..."
As she finishes the spirit beckons you to step forward and take the etheric compasses she's holding inside the mirror. As Kyra advances and reaches to touch the glass she finds it permeable as some sort of esoteric soap bubble and retrieves them! Once drawn from the mirror, the compasses are wispy, slimy shadows that slowly evaporate. You immediately realize you need a way to stabilize them before they phase out of existance...
A way you were provided to be more precise
Cwethan's Iconic |
Oloch shakes his head heavily. Hmmp. Hope the rest of these jobs aren't all about ghosts and spooky stuff too. :p
DM Elan Morin |
As Lem places the etheric compasses inside the boxes they immediately stabilize and assume material form. As you do, the spirit of Lady Illirigarde nods and fades away "Stop the sleeper..." her last words on this plane of existance.
You return to Dr. Quolorum with the etheric compasses. The old man looks very pleased and praises you for "Being professionals of impeccable stature". He immediately prepares to follow up on the discovery and in a couple of days a new missive reaches you with instructions for your next quest...
DM Elan Morin |
Dr. Quolorum's letter instructs you to explore a ruin, a monolith to be precise, about an hour’s hike from the sleepy village of Dunhob, which you visited previously and reserved you a less than enthusiastic welcome.
Handouts updated
Cwethan's Iconic |
Knowledge (History): 1d20 ⇒ 1
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 14
I've heard the Dunhob folk think that sprinkling iron shavings near the edge of Kellid ruins protects you, since the creatures within are forced to stop and count the shavings before chasing you.
They're half right. I'll show 'em it's really just Iron.

"Aye. That sounds about right," Hakon says in agreement. Looking up from the letter, he adds, "Sounds like ritual sacrifice."
Kyra PBP |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Kyra takes the time to visit the townsfolk again, reminding them of how they rid the tavern of a haunting and healing a few wounds the old fashioned way.
"The people around here sure are friendly today! Once I mentioned the great evil the lady told us about, they couldn't stop talking about the ruins. Kellids this and Kellids that. There's some monolith that sounds promising. Rumored to have a 'great evil' trapped inside it and a burial complex underneath. My guess is that's the very thing we're looking for."
DM Elan Morin |
The great monolith of the ancient Kellids towers over the barren hillside. A distant flash of red lightning silently illuminates the muggy air, revealing a hole that gapes in the slope like a toothless mouth. Several dozen feet away rises a low mound of dirt and loose rock.
Knowledge (arcana) or (history) or Linguistic to examine the monolith, Survival is always a good bet in these "out in the wild" situations
Cwethan's Iconic |
Oloch is happy to leave matters of arcane or historical significance to those with duller blades.
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
All that silly book learnin' never helped no one anyhow.
Kyra PBP |
"Evil comes in many forms," Kyra replies, just a tad pompously as if she just spoke great words of wisdom. She fingers her holy symbol as she speaks. Of course she does that quite often anyway. She then heads boldly, or foolishly, towards the hole, all confidence.
Since they are on the trail of a great evil, she swapped out Murderous Command for Protection from Evil.
Blake's Iconic |
Knowledge (History or Arcana): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

own. These tracks lead to and the monolith and disappear inside a newly dug tunnel. The half orc also identifies weeks-old boot prints heading to the tunnel, likely from the individual who dug it.
Does anyone have Knowledge (engineering)?
Cwethan's Iconic |
Oloch points out the concerning tracks. Some sorta long-armed freak in the tunnel. There's some boot prints too, which is good. After we kill the monster that got whoever left them, new-used-boots!
DM Elan Morin |
Map was updated, you can move near the monolith up north
By examining the monolith exterior, Feiya discovers an ancient Kellid glyph of protection known as Gorum’s Eye inscribed on the surface. It consists of an eye within an elongated hexagon. She also deciphers some of the glyphs around the eye, consisting of “protection,” “stone,” “grave,” “pit,” and “evil.”
Do you wish to brave the tunnel leading into the monolith?
Blake's Iconic |
"So someone might have accidentally--or intentionally--let some evil out of a grave in which it was sealed?" Hakon speculates to Feiya.
