Evening all. This is going to be good. To quote another, wiser, player than I...

Quote:
Introductions are my favored way of getting to know new gamers, because these pbp's take time and the table chat is important to keep us going strong in my opinion.

I'm 28 from Sussex, England. Long time reader of RPGs but only really found a group to play with a couple of years ago. Between working full time, an open university degree and two little ones (2 and 6) time is tight! So I don't play as much as I would like to in real life. I've only recently started PbP but so far (and from following some existing threads) I really like to opotunity it allows for character building, interaction and role playing, the aspects of this hobby I enjoy the most. I'm sparkley fresh into pfs play so bear with me there. I'm at work early and can/will be able to post at all sorts of odd times. Look forward to playing with you all.

Greetings. Thank you, GM Shady, for the invite. I'm looking forward to this. I like the idea of a static group going through a set list of scenarios. I had joined a group last year that tried to stay together, 4 of us made it through 4 scenarios, but finding something all of us hadn't played proved challenging. Ultimately, real life caused the GM to end the game.

Having played D&D back in the 80's, I had been getting my RPG fix through computer games until a few years ago when my brother-in-law invited me to play Pathfinder with his friends. However, 5 year old twins limits my availability to play. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Pbp about a year later to be able to continue online. This will be my first core character.

Heya folks - looking forward to gaming with you all.

As for introductions, Im 33 years old and living in Perth, Western Australia. I work full time, as well as doing study online as well, so like Tsakolk my time is tight. I've been playing RPGs now since I was 17 when friends of mine handed me the 3.5 PHB, and am nearly always the DM so pbp is a great chance for me to experience the other side of the screen for a while :)

I've only tried PFS once with a magus, but given my limited time I don't get to play much of it in person so he's never progressed past his first mission.

I a 40 something empty nester and Manufacturing Engineer. We go fishing, ballroom dancing, and spoil an adorable granddaughter. I started with the blue and pink books of that 'other game' clear back in the 80's.

PF is complex enough to sooth my technical soul, yet simple enough that it doesn't seem like I'm back at work. I have a home group that meets once a month. My schedule is varied enough that I really can't commit to more than that. It also is popular enough that I can fairly easily find people to game with on a regular basis.

I like PFS because it gets me out of the house and meeting more people. Yet it doesn't have the regular time commitment of another home group. I happen to have some extra time on a Saturday afternoon, so I c heck the schedule, and lo there is a game at one of the local shops. I'm off!

I like PbP since it gets me a lot more of a gaming fix on a very regular basis without a huge time commitment. I can make a quick check on the progress of a game with my phone several times a day. Before work, at lunch, etc... If the response required of me is fairly simple I can put it in right then. If the response is more complex, involves maps, or looking stuff up; then once or twice a day I can pretty easily find a half hour to sit down at my home computer. Finding a free 6 hours for travel and gaming that matches up with the posted schedule is a lot harder for me.
Also, PbP gives me the time to really think about what I want my character to say. Plus I'm enough of an introvert that some time of role play are a bit difficult for me in a FtF game. PbP lets me have a character that has an accent, talks to himself, is paranoid, or doing a bad job of hitting on the ladies.

--

Hadanka is still a bit of a work in progress as far as his personality and a few later build details. He will be a Barbarian that goes into the Shadow Dancer PrC. I just love the idea of a little bit of shade suddenly sprouting a huge screaming dude swinging a pole axe.

Hi, I'm now back at home (in the UK) and will try to get through the character sheets tomorrow.

I had a question about allowable traits. Per page 20 of the current edition of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play:

Quote:

Core campaign players are limited to the following resources for character creation ...:

• Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook
• Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (actually the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide)
• Pathfinder Character Traits Web Enhancement (which is here)

Note on Hero Lab you can mark a character as being a Core Campaign character and it should do most of the hard work for you in terms of saying what's legal under these rules.

For what it's worth, the campaign is registered as PFS event 76256.

Greetings all. Excited to get started with a "regular" group. Should be a lot of fun.

meet the player:
40 yr old. Married. Adult stepdaughter. 1 cat (mine), 2 wiener dogs (wife's), 4 turtles, 1 hedgehog. Customer service supervisor in a call center. Marine Corps vet. Nerd. Gamer.

Been playing D&d since 2nd edition. Occasional other random rpg's. Approximately 2 yrs ago my real life d&d group split up after a couple members moved away. Hoping to fill the d&d void I ventured to the pbp here at paizo.

I like the idea of the common rules PFS provides, allowing players from anywhere to come together and play on an even field. I like pbp a lot due to the "daily" fix without having to allocate 4+ hours in a single block, and trying to coordinate with many different peoples RL schedules.

Did not get the chance to review character sheets today.

However I have added some notes on Season 0 from the Guild Guide to the Campaign Info. Note I do not propose to run the Season 0 faction missions unless someone really wants me to.

I've also added the list of scenarios there. As you can see the first one will be The Frozen Fingers of Midnight (#0-4).

Daereon,
Might suggest something other than Sum Monster I at first level. Since it is a full round casting time and they only last one round before they pop back out of existence, it isn't a very efficient spell until the duration gets a little longer. But obviously your choice.

Hi - just quickly:

- I think you have allocated your FCB to both HP and skills (?)
- no rations?
- deity?

Thanks

Still reviewing a couple of sheets, and still hoping to start this week.

I'm still waiting on those sheets, have asked for the HeroLab files.

Nevertheless we will start this weekend.

I've set up a Google Drive directory for files. I'll drop the Chronicle Sheets in there as we go as well. I'll PM the location of the directory tomorrow.

I've written to Hadanka's player asking whether he is still in the game. If I don't get a rapid response I will drop him. The good thing about PFS is that the scenarios are so short that we can re-recruit relatively quickly.

No - giving it till the morning my time (I said if I didn't get a response today - it's currently 22.35 for me) but come what may we're moving forward tomorrow.

OK, nothing. I've dropped him from the list of players. Grr.

I had an email from Tsakolk that he would be away for the weekend. I've also got a long flight (London - San Francisco) tomorrow. So I think posting might be slow over the weekend, but as we restart can we up the posting rate a little please.

One other thing is that I've basically tried to find a way of posting information in the NPC conversations as the questioning/interaction is somewhat light; I'd encourage you to ask questions of the NPCs - quite apart from anything else it does move things forward.

Note I'll be on Pacific time all next week.

Dark Archive

Ditto, but that's a big gap, let's hope he's still on board.

Dark Archive

As far as in game goes we should probably act quickly. The guard opposite has just seen Xaaven climb out of the water and talk to us!

I say Xaaven goes back in, we start battering on the door, Xaaven takes a look at whatever boat is there and we take it from there?

The Exchange

Halfling Rogue 1 HP 10(-3 NL)/10 | AC 16 T 14 FF 13 | F +3 R +6 W +1 | CMB -1 CMD 12 | Speed 15' Init +5 Perc +6

My entry and exit from the water was from around the corner of the building so the only thing the guard might notice is that I'm wet. It sounds like the boat is a sailing vessel and much bigger than I thought initially. I didn't see a crew, although it might be possible that they were on board. I could try to disable the ship but I imagine that would require a swim check which I'm at +0 and a disable device check. I think I should just try to open the front door.

Dark Archive

Will the guards inside not notice you? There wasn't any mention of cover. How's about we knock/kick the door in, while you go round the back to get a good vantage point and some flank hits?

Trouble is we seem to be down to 3 maybe 4...

Illandro is still playing so we may be down to 4. I need to check how PFS works but I assume I can bot our missing player if necessary.

Note if you swim in you can all take 10 - it's round the corner from the guard; when you arrive you may not all pass a stealth check but you'd be in one group.

Hi - re Fidgit; have written to him but assuming he has self-evaporated then, this being a PFS scenario, I'm not allowed to bot him (what if he dies, etc.).

So we carry on as a 4 player game and then replace for the next scenario.
