Sugar thinks for a moment, then suddenly smiles, basty, batsy, basty! she says excitedly as she transforms into a bat and flies off into the hole to scout about.

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

Sugarsnap transforms into a tiny bat and flies through the small hole in the rubble.

The passage opens into a severely damaged chamber. Rubble torn from the excavated walls lies everywhere. Across the room stand the remains of a dividing wall now torn down to its foundation. The far wall is piled with slabs of broken stone. In a few places, badly damaged remains of ancient glyphs can still be seen.

Sugarsnap's Perception check: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38

Once in the chamber Bat-Sugar immediately notices a couple things of interest. First is a secret door on the west side of the chamber, and the other is four hideous looking pale creatures with bulging eyes hiding up on the ceiling. The humanoids' attention are mostly fixed on the dim light being emitted from the other side of the hole, although the one closest to Sugar eyes the bat and licks its lips hungrily.

It's Knowledge (nature) to identify the creatures.

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

Sugarsnap identifies the creatures as monstrous humanoids known as Morlocks. She recalls that they are expert climbers, can easily attack in the middle of a jump, and can swarm together in the same space to sneak attack opponents. They are also immune to poison and disease, and are blinded by sunlight or Daylight or strong light spells.

"If they're ready for us, we can be ready for them."

Frēodwēn will cast Heroism on himself before we squeeze down the tunnel

"Can anyone get through without being noticed, enough to divert them long enough for the rest of us to get through?"

if no one thinks they can sneak in, Frēodwēn has these ideas:
An Unseen Servant carries a light source into the room. Then Xakon (and Sugar in an innocuous animal form) can sneak into the room without carrying a light source to himself that draws attention to him.
An alternative is for Frēodwēn to cast invisibilty on Xakon to give him better stealth, but I don't think that's necessary in light of the other options and I'd rather not burn the high level spell on that.
Third solution Frēodwēn will mention: if the tunnel is straight, he can cast light on an arrow and shoot it into the room in place of having an unseen servant carry a light source in.

Frēodwēn shakes his head. "No sunrod in my pack."

"That tunnel is very narrow. If we go in one at a time they will overwhelm whomever goes in first before the others can get through. If a few of us can sneak through undetected there will be more of us in the room when the fight starts. But Xakon can hardly sneak in while glowing like a torch. Thus I propose we get some light in there first."

sounds like you are saying the arrow light plan is viable, GM

-Posted with Wayfinder

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

With the current amount of light the group is carrying, you should be able to aim it through the hole with no issues especially if Sugarsnap gives you some idea of the dimensions. You will be firing it somewhat blindly, so I'll randomly determine what square it lands in unless you want to try to fire it straight back as far as you can. Also, remember you can only have one Light spell active at a time so if you have Light cast on something else at the moment, then you'll have to transfer it to the arrow.

All that being said, you'll have to move into the room to attack the morlocks from range even with the Light. They are all currently hanging off the ceiling.

Distracted by the light, none of the Morlocks seem to see Xakon, but all four begin to sniff at the air, as if they smell him.

Sugarsnap, on the other hand, is easily seen by the four Morlocks, especially when she drops a Flaming Sphere on one of their heads. The creature just barely avoids the mini-fireball as the burning mass falls to the ground. Please try to remember to include the DC's of your spell in your posts whenever possible.

The morlocks are all 10 feet up on the ceiling. The Flaming Sphere is currently under the red morlock, but not on him due to gravity.

Moving into the Morlock room from the first room requires you to squeeze if you are Medium sized. (The squeezing square counts as two squares of movement. If you remain in the squeezing square, you take a -4 to attack rolls and AC.) The bottleneck squeeze square is denoted on the map with a yellow dot, you have to move through that square to get to the morlock room.

Excellent point about the half wall there, I moved the morlocks to a space where they both could attack without any issues since they know the terrain and wouldn't waste their movement stopping in a space where they couldn't do anything. You can take an AoOs on either the green or the white one based on this new configuration. Neither provoked from Sugarsnap.

Sugar can't fail the save unless she rolls a 1. Let's hit her.

Frēodwēn easily tumbles through your morlock foes to set himself up to cast a Glitterdust spell on them all and Sugarsnap. All of the morlocks suddenly become sparkly, but only the one (black) appears to be blinded.

GM Screen:

White Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Black Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Red Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Green Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Sugarsnap, I'll need a Will save from you. On the off chance you roll a 1, we'll say your actions occurred before the spell since I narrated what happened with them already.

Siv, Mudk, and Xakon are up, and I also need to know which color morlock Sugar targeted earlier (white or green).
