Sivantanpisil heals Mudk a little more with a channel, while leaving out the eel. Truffles is too far away to benefit from the channel.

Actually, no. I had forgotten about that aspect of the map. In that case...

Although it initially appeared Jirah's arrow missed, it actually hits the eel right below its jaw. After a bit of jostling around to keep Mudk in its jaws, the arrow is pushed further into the creature, hits a major artery, and finally kills the giant snake-fish.

Xakon assists Jirah pulling Mudk out of the eel.

Did you see any trinkets in its belly?

He cuts out the stomach with zeal and hopes to find something shiny. If it was dining on an empty stomach, then he searches the rest of the room.

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

Water continues to pour into the room after the eel's defeat, slowly raising the level of liquid in the room. Indeed, in about a minute the whole room will probably be completely full of water.

Xakon cuts into the ugly fish's belly, but finds nothing except chunks of partially digested meat. His search of the room similarly comes up empty. I'm assuming Xakon took 10 as he normally does.

Damage Watch: Mudk has 13 damage, Truffles still has 6 damage.

With the swimming, fighting, searching, and healing, the Alter Self, Bless, and Bull's Strength spells will probably be wearing off now. Water Breathing is still good. I'll give you a bit to regroup and prepare before moving to the next section. The main flooded hallway appears to be the only way forward, let me know if you want it to carry you to the open room at the end or if you want to try to stop at the door on the north. I believe the rule of left would indicate you just follow the current to empty room.

After giving Sivantanpisil sometime to heal Mudk and Truffles, the group returns to the long hallway and lets the current carry them forward. The hallway opens into a large, flooded room with three isolated alcoves just above the water level. The roar of water pouring into this room is loud enough to drown out quiet conversation.

Standing in the northwest corner is another female undine with a crab eidolon, along with a green metal construct similar to the one seen on the first level except in much better shape and equipped a sharklike mechanical tail instead of legs. The automaton is currently carrying a ranseur in both hands.

It's Knowledge (arcana) to identify the construct in more detail.

As the undine notices the group enters, she points to the newcomers and orders to her minions, "Execute them!"

All water spaces require swim checks to move through. Remember, you can't 5' step, can only move 1/4 speed if you swim as a move action, and can only move 1/2 speed if you swim as a full-round action.

you said in the first combat post that we could move at half speed if we take a full round action, or quarter speed for a move action

-Posted with Wayfinder

Gamemaster | CC Map | S4 Map

To make it perhaps a bit more clearer, a Swim check reduces your move speed to a quarter. So, when you take a full action to move, you are in effect double moving, i.e., you are moving quarter speed twice to equal half speed.

Frēodwēn and Jirah believe the construct is an Emerald Automaton. Seldom found outside the Spire, the hard outer shell of these creatures require adamantine weapons to hurt effectively. Furthermore, when they are sufficiently injured they begin to emit electricity from their cores that damage those around them. Also, suppressing their magical core makes them much less dangerous. This particular version appears to have a swim speed.

Frēodwēn, Xakon, Sugarsnap, and Truffles all swim closer to the enemies in the room.

The construct swims 5 feet closer to give it more access to those entering the room with its ranseur. It then strikes Mudk hard with its first attack. Mudk takes 18 additional damage from the ranseur strike.

With its second hasted action, it finds a vital spot on Truffles body and stabs the poor boar, killing him instantly. I'm sorry, I rolled two 20's in a row with a x3 crit weapon with power attack. The attack did 61 damage.

Xakon manages to avoid opportunity attacks as he swims to a position adjacent to the spellcaster.

In her rage, Sugarsnap casts a Flaming Sphere that drops on top of the construct and scorches it somewhat. The burning ball then falls into the water and is quickly extinguished.

Frēodwēn casts a spell to ameliorate his movement issues in the water.

The modified Emerald Automaton swims back five feet perhaps to protect the undine and attempts to skewer Xakon with its ranseur. Its first attack fails to hit, but the second lands and comes close to another critical strike, but that is mercifully avoided. Xakon takes another 16 damage from the ranseur strike.
