Silver Crusade

Yes. You rested and healed after the lizardfolk encounter. This is a new day. :-)

The party exits area A and heads towards area B.

A large doorway passes from the room of murals into the city proper. A lightly glowing green fluorescence emanates from the cavern roof above, illuminating a once-great city now reduced to ash and rubble—but whose ruins are coated entirely in gold. A large, covered bridge across a canal glows white-hot and emits a searing, golden light. In the center of the bridge stands a man-shaped statue covered in fine gold plating, its carved face eerily human-like.

Combat map updated.

Silver Crusade

Presumably, the party wishes to cross the covered bridge? It's the only way over the molten gold that doesn't expose you to damage.

Silver Crusade

I moved everyone up a bit. You have to be a little closer to be able to see details clearly enough to ID the creature.

This thing is a construct! You've heard stories about them; this is called a "Golden Guardian." Harrow can know two things about it. Pick from "offense," "defense," and "special abilities."

You see it. It sees you. It's on!

Tan'ia will start summoning a Small Water Elemental.

Silver Crusade

Tan'ia also knows about Golden Guardians. Between her and Harrow, the party knows:

(1) offense:
- they hit hard and do physical damage plus fire damage

(2) defense:
- standard construct traits
- conductivity (A magical attack that deals electricity damage speeds up a golden guardian as the haste spell)
- heat shimmer (The intense heat radiating from a golden guardian's body creates a wavering shimmer in the air that makes the construct difficult to see clearly. This functions as a blur.)
- DR 5/adamantine
- Immune electricity, fire
- SR
- Heat (A golden guardian's body generates intense heat, dealing 1d6 points of fire damage whenever it hits in melee, or in each round it grapples. Creatures attacking a golden guardian with unarmed strikes or natural weapons are also subject to the golden guardian’s heat.)

(3) special:
- Molten Destruction: When reduced to 0 hit points,a golden guardian superheats and instantly melts into a pile of molten gold. All creatures within a certain radius take 6d6 points of fire damage

Round 1

Berosius: Go
Auntie: Mage Armor
Harrow: Swing and a miss
Mareck: Go
Quartz: Go
Tan'ia: Starts summoning
Golden Guardian:

Mareq casts grease upon the floor beneath the Golden Guardian!

Reflex DC17
I cast it in this position on purpose. It allows Husarq to strike with reach, while it possibly can't move close enough. And if it does, it won't be able to five foot, meaning Husarq gets an AoO.

Silver Crusade

1d20 ⇒ 5

There's a sound like a slide-whistle, and then: Boom! as the Golden Guardian falls onto his backside.

Grand Lodge

Male Gnome Alchemist (Grenadier) 7, HP 29 [45], AC 28 [18], Fort +7, Ref +9, Will +4, CMD 14, Init +6, Per +13

Quartz draws out his cross bow and combines it with one of his double acid flasks!

Silver Crusade

I adjusted the placement of the grease. Harrow goes before Mareck, but he didn't update his position on the map when he entered melee. I don't think that this substantively changes your tactics.

The golden guardian attacks Harrow.

Slam minus prone: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 12 - 4 = 27, Damage plus fire: 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (3) = 11
Slam minus prone: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 12 - 4 = 13

The golden guardian's first strike is true. Though he feels no pain, the half-orc's flesh still sizzles from the blow.

Round 1

Berosius: Go (delay?)
Auntie: Mage Armor
Harrow: Swing and a miss
Mareck: Grease
Quartz: Draw and prep weapon
Tan'ia: Starts summoning
Golden Guardian: Attack!
Husarq: Go

My attack was supposed to be a readied action "if it comes closer." So I actually wasn't planning to move up.

Silver Crusade

My bad, Harrow. I misunderstood your intent. In that case, the guardian's first roll is more than enough to stand up and move.

This triggers your readied action which misses.

The guardian also misses you, because he would have had no action economy left to hit.

Map updated to reflect this.

Done and done! :-)

M Efreeti Lord of All He Surveys 10 (HP 79/85; AC 33 / T 11 / FF 31 ; F +11, R +6, W +8; Init +2, Perception +11, Darkvision 60') [dice=Power Attack]1d20+19[/dice] [dice=Slashing dmg]3d6+26[/dice] [dice=Fire dmg]1d6[/dice]

Husarq swings at the guardian.

Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 5) + 10 = 20 Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Bleed isn't listed as a specific type of effect that constructs are immune to. Unless I've missed something, I'm assuming "bleed" in this context is a generic term meaning "continue to take damage."

Silver Crusade

20% miss chance for heat shimmer. Let's say that high, 81-100 is good for the guardian?

1d100 ⇒ 84

Husarq swing mightily! Alas, the bending light caused by the extreme ambient temperatures threw off his aim.
____________________________________________________________

ROUND 2

The whole party, except for Husarq is up!

If you are making a ranged or melee attack, please also include the miss chance. For consistency's sake the guardian avoids the attack on a roll of 81 to 100.

I added my Water Elemental to the map.

Tan'ia will cast Burst of Radiance so that it only affects the golden rod.

Blinded for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds, only dazzled if it succeeds at a DC 15 Reflex save. Save or not, if it is evil, it takes 4d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 4) = 14 points of damage.

Grand Lodge

Depends

Water Elemental will Slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 golden rod, and if it hits does 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 points of damage.
Miss?: 1d100 ⇒ 16

Silver Crusade

Quartz:
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 98, Misses!

Mareck:
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14, slide whistle! The guardian falls upon his backside, again!

Tan'ia:
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17, The golden guardian avoids being blinded!

Elemental:
Hits! But, does not get past the guardian's DR. Also, for coming into contact with the enemy, the water elemental takes Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 HP of fire damage.

Silver Crusade

Stuck in the midst of her companions on the bridge, Auntie uses her magic to bolster her burly compatriot's defense.

Harrow swings powerfully! But, the sweat in his eyes clouds his vision momentarily, and the Cavalier/Inquisitor's blow misses its mark.
____________________________________________________________

Since enemies are upon him, the golden guardian will simply attack from his prone position. One attack on the elemental, one on Harrow. Not sure what buffs, if any, Tan'ia grants her summons. So, I'll just roll damage and leave it to her to apply or not, as appropriate.

Attack Elemental: Slam minus Prone: 1d20 + 12 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 4 = 18, Damage: Slam plus Fire: 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (5) = 12

Sliding on the Grease, the guardian swings its sizzling hot arms wildly. Connecting with at least one foe!

Remember Harrow: (1) This is a new day, you started this combat with full HP! (2) We corrected the previous attack. It never hit; this is the first bit of damage you have taken "today."

Silver Crusade

Unable to cope with the massive heat given off by the golden guardian, the water elemental explodes (harmlessly) into a cloud of vapor!

Husarq takes a mighty swing, hoping to damage the guardian while it is prone. Unfortunately, the eidolon's attack was obscured the the elemental's destruction! His attack misses its mark.

Harrow just took over 1/3 of his total HP in damage. If two more hits connect, he's down. If the golden guardian is then defeated, he'll die in the resultant explosion. So, I'm going to bot Berosius here.

See the gaping wound on the half-orc and smelling the sizzle of his burned flesh, Berosius yells: "Harrow!"
