Tyranius Stormbringer |
Tyranius grabs the chime out of his pack. Holding it out he gives it one solid ring next to the door.
Valeros The Free |
However, if there are things in there of importance, then *not* trying to get through them means we're putting all of our hard work to this point to waste....
I had an idea, but there's NO WAY Valeros would be able to come up with it -- he doesn't have the right skills and there's no good way to describe it without dipping DEEP into the meta-well.
"Well, let's move on, then. Maybe we'll get some sort of idea from one of the other traps?"
Creat the Cheat |
Tyranius tries the chime, but the door still seems locked. It is protected by an Arcane Lock higher caster level than 15th.
Small hint: This chamber might be associated with a certain deadly sin... maybe one which is evoking a certain feeling because you can't get in. ;)
Creat would consider lust, but he doesn't swing that way and besides is too slothful to try.
"Yeah, you said it, Beaky. Even our open any door key doesn't work."
Laeowynne Faelandalan |
"Well now that poses a problem of sorts for us. What are our options? Retrace our steps to find the best location to chime? See if there is a way past this barrier from another hallway perhaps? Maybe something we missed? You said other traps. Do we expect the same kind of traps guarding the same locations as we continue? This is my first exposure outside of the academic environment and I am finding it quite deadly so I thank the stars for the rest of you being here to see me through this, but sometimes we should stop and think before rushing head straight into danger." the elf says rapidly, a sign of his uneasiness...
Tyranius Stormbringer |
Tyranius doesn't mind either way as he knows there are more areas out of his reach and level of expertise.
"Perhaps the gods themselves do not see it fit for us to see what is behind?"
GM Andrew |
Heard someone wanting to go behind statue #3, so will continue on with that.
While this crypt has the dusty, disused air of the ossuary’s other catacombs, the bodies interred within it are remarkably free from the ravages of age and decay. Their burial garments have long since rotted away, but the cadavers look as if they could have been placed in their niches only yesterday. Unfortunately, this amazing effect is somewhat overshadowed by the lewd and graphic positions the bodies have been placed in.
On a Detect Magic, the bodies glow with magic.
Laeowynne Faelandalan |
Detect Magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21...
"It seems that all of the bodies here are affected by a Gentle Repose spell which preserves the remains of a dead creature so that they do not decay. Nice spell, not my cup of herbal tea though. Used by Necromancers because using the spell effectively extends the time limit on raising that creature from the dead, which is a bit unsettling for my taste."
Tyranius Stormbringer |
Feeling a bit more at ease Tyranius enters the room. He says a small prayer to the Gods to keep the dead at peace.
"They must have been well off as they are adorned with numerous amounts of expensive looking jewelry."
Valeros The Free |
Valeros squints at the various poses of the statues in the room and then sighs.
"Well, whoever set these bodies up had some really perverse appetites, I mean, that one right there--" He'll point to one of them "That just ain't right, y'know? How did they even bend that way?
I really have no idea what else to do with this?
GM Andrew |
The next crypt had the statue of Krune, Runelord of Sloth in front of it.
This crypt has a few carvings on the wall that show mages summoning devils and demons in summoning circles. However, its only in the entryway and appears to be unfinished, with runes on the wall only half-drawn.
Inside, you see this fat, lard monster. A roiling wave of flesh gushes forward. Amid the fatty surge wriggle half-formed limbs and a dripping tumorous face. It attacks on sight!
Izzik: "What is that?"

And they have very sharp claws!"
Valeros The Free |
"Great. Is there anything that shuts them down, because that sounds like pretty much nothing works against them."
There's a brief pause as Valeros tightens his grip on his sword and his shield.
"Y'know what, screw it. For the Drunken Hero!"
The fighter strides in, taking a swing at the thing as he gets just past the alcove it's in.

GM Andrew |
Valeros heads forward and tries to hit the devil. He does, but finds his blow doesn't deal full damage.
Tyranius buffs the party, while Ray shouts to let the devil out. Creat heads in defensively and Laeowynne shouts out what it is weak to.

Izzik's Turn
Izziks comes in with his shortbow and tries to hit it while it is slow and lethargic.

GM Andrew |
Ray fires an enfeebling ray. It hits!
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
It seems weaker!
Creat and Valeros tag team. Both hit, but Creat's hit does damage whilst Valeros's does not.

Izzik takes out a dagger and tries to stab the beast.

Tyranius Stormbringer |
Seeing that his wand's effects are not needed Tyranius steps back, grabs his crossbow and loads a bolt in place.
GM Andrew |
Valeros takes advantage of the flank and manages to land a blow. The lemure recoils in pain and appears to be barely standing!
Creat tires to go for a hamstring, but ends up getting too precise and missing entirely.
Tyranius readies a bolt to fire at the Lemure shortly.
