Anyone who approaches within 10 ft. of the menhir:
The mist around the menhir feels cold and clammy, but you don't feel any ill effects.

Anyone who approaches within 5 ft. of the menhir:
You hear voices in your head clearly coming from the menhir. It's in a bunch of different languages (including common), and it's pretty much all unintelligible babble... some of which aren't even words in any sort of language.

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 20 (For the symbols on the walls):
You recognize the symbols on the walls as Thassilonian runes of gluttony and necromancy.

  • The secret doors in the central room that all have magical trapped statues in front of the doors (7 of those).
  • The western double doors in the main hallway.
  • The west doors all the way in the entry hall.
  • The hallway to the west on the far side of the crypt.

Pretty much any blackened area, you haven't explored yet.

not recognizing any of the ancient arcane symbols on the walls Tyranius is glad to move along. The less time spent underground the better he was.

Valeros will move along with the rest of the team towards that western hallway, alert for any horrors along the way...


The party decides to move to the west hallway.

In the room to the West, a suit of elaborate lacquered armor stands sentinel against the far eastern wall of this octagonal chamber. Silver chains attached to the armor’s neck and chest run across the floor of the room, their ends clutched in the bony hand of a skeleton sprawled on the floor ten feet away.

You see rather large (but still diminutive) cockroaches crawling in and out of the armor, like there may be more inside. The armor is a masterwork suit of banded mail.

There's also a masterwork bastard sword lying on the ground near the armor and two daggers near the skeleton ten feet away from the suit of armor.

The hallways continue to the East.

For the design of the armor...

After Creat throws a rock at the armor, the cockroaches start swarming around it trying to find the disturbance. After a few seconds, it dies down again. There are a lot of cockroaches inside that armor. You might even say a swarm of them. ;)

Having lived in pauper's districts all his life Creat considers.

"I got one!"

He hides the torch behind his cloak casting a big shadow over roache's side of the room. Then, dramatically, he turns around and shines it on them again. Do the roaches skitter away?


Creat, they do not scatter away at the light, and then some explosions happen.

I'll go ahead and give you all a surprise round on it, since people are throwing flasks.

Ray steps back, not really prepared to take on a bunch of cockroaches.


Valeros and Tyranius throw their respective splash weapons. Neither, hit and the cockroaches take some minor damage. They start to flow out of the armor in anger.

Creat shines the light on them, and they get even more swarmy and angry. They big to come out of the armor. They are dazzled though. :p

Ray and Laeowynne hang back. Doesn't look like Laeowynne has much to help for this situation.

Monster Knowledge

Knowledge (Nature) DC 12:
This is a cockroach swarm. It's gross, and these are bigger than normal cockroaches! You need to use splash weapons or area effects to be able to hit them at all. They are also immune to mind-affecting effects.t

They have an ability that causes a person attacked by them to be distracted, making it hard to concentrate on any task other than moving.

Ray hits the swarm dead on and takes out several cockroaches.

Ray, usually I don't have a d3 rolled for the extra damage and multiply the original d6 roll, but you also forgot point blank shot, so it turns out to be 7 regardless.

Valeros escapes the swarm, and as he does, Ray throws an alchemist fire on the ground. An explosion happens and the cockroaches catch fire. Between the explosion and the alchemist fire itself, the various pieces of the swarms cease movement, and there are many dead cockroaches laying on the ground.

OF COURSE he takes a drink before he does that, and is grimacing a bit at first until he realizes that it's not as bad as it looked on the outside.

The party decides to head down the hallway and find it branches off in many directions.

On the South West corner...

Dirt and rubble surround a hole in the wall of this alcove. Within, a rough-hewn tunnel leads off into darkness. Two picks and a shovel lie on the floor in front of the hole.

There also a door on the South hall of the hallway to the East, and if you look to the other hallway that connects off of that, there's 6 more doors, 3 on each side.
