Level 2(ish) characters.

Looking for active characters that aren't jerks. (The PCs or the people playing them ;) )

I just took a group through First Steps, and we need anywhere from 1-4 more slots, depending on how many of them want to continue on. I like to run groups of 5 or 6, as some PFS scenarios I have seen have potential to TPK groups of 4. I am TPK free, and would love for that streak to continue :)

The characters moving on will be choosing their new companions. They will be choosing from this thread... so instead of just saying "interested" consider this thread the application.

Best of luck, and all that. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Dotting

I have an Alchemist (Preservationist) 3 (just made 3). However....I'm not entirely certain what to expect from PbP.

Of course the site sketches out when I edit my post.

Some other things that belong in the first post:

- I expect at least one post a day, but would prefer more in the general flow of the story.

- I am not a rules lawyer. I like my games to be fun and creative. I like the story that we create together, more than the meta/tactical part of the game. IF any of you applying are 100% meta oriented and super anal about rules, it might not be a good mix :) (especially if you are a-holes about it... haha.)

- Here's a tip for getting picked: The characters in my game will be looking at this thread to recruit, so consider this your tryout. They are more interested in WHO your character is, than what he actually does. The fun for us is in playing the story, and the interactions that the character has. So rather than put "Bard - level 3" and that is it, you might want to give your character the floor and explain who he/she/it is, what makes the PC tick, and so on. If you would like to add that they are a battle cleric and stats/gear at the end, I'm sure that won't hurt... but I can guarantee that the people with the most vivid characters and best interactions will win.

So, best of luck.

Abyssian,

I like PbP because you are able to interact with the characters in the group a lot better than at the table. There is only so much story you can cram into a 4 hr session (especially a PFS session... can we say "skip" much?)

There are disadvantages to a play by post, as there are to everything, but the disadvantages can be hedged nicely.

But I like it, and it is nice to have going when things are slow at the tables, or it is hard to get out to one.

- Any specific questions other than posting requirements?

**HERE** is a thread from one of my groups to give you an idea of the PFS as a PbP. Keep in mind that we were new to doing it (this link was a first shot for us) and we have some things ironed out now, and it is a lot more streamlined.

Grand Lodge

Will you also take level 1's?

I have a number of level 2's but they are in active PFS games ATM.

Helaman,

Definitely not out of the question.

The Exchange

This is Toren Still. Nickname's "Stand" Still on account o' my shield Tessa here. I work fer the Pathfinders cuz the gemcrafter business jus' ain't cuttin' it. I was down to my last sausage afore I decided to become a Pathfinder. I'd be more'n happy tah throw in my lot with yer group.

Just got to 2nd level but haven't updated my profile yet.

Dark Archive

I am Julian, I am a man of many talents. I can work an alchemical table like no ones business. I am skill in martial arts and under the right circumstances I can be quite the wreckingball.

(level 1 alchemist, designed for survival)

Liberty's Edge

Aram Barong, apprentice sorceror. None have ever resisted a color spray from me or my honeyed words of deception.

(level 1, sorceror)

Will throw something your way soon - have three half completed PCs I want to work on.

It is not possible to play with the same character in two games at the same time, right?

How about with two different characters, but from the same player?

I might be interested, but need to know if this would be legal :D

Welcome everyone. Thanks for the subs so far.

Rickmeister - you cannot play with the same character in two different games. Consider a character involved in a game frozen in time until they complete their quest.

Multiple characters from the same player is ABSOLUTELY LEGAL (and double the fun!) I currently have 3 characters that I rotate in and out, depending on who I want to play.

As an aside, I will be reading the newest guide (released Jan 7th) before we get started, so it will be a few days at least before we jump in.

This gives you the opportunity to fully flesh out your characters here if you choose to do that.

I don't need every single stat block, but like I mentioned previously, the more that you blurb about your chars (as long as it is interesting, lol) the likelier that you get picked. I am not planning on rushing into the game, we want the right people for the group, as this will probably be an ongoing thing (multiple sessions) if we find the right mix.

Liberty's Edge

Skipper's the name, and healing's the game! Well, one of my games-- I like to think of the world as one big adventure, don't you?

*Even for a halfling, this individual seems... colorful and hyper. He's dressed in the bright colors favored by Varisians-- a red jacket, blue breeches, a purple belt sash, and shaggy blond hair with cheerful, bright blue eyes. The back of one hand sports a blue tattoo of a stylized road winding between stars. He sweeps his prospective companions a bow, then bounces upright again.*

And I want to see as much of it as I can. City to city or world to world, I'm up for wherever we're going as long as we go with good company. And as long as nobody minds me saying a prayer to Sinashakti before we start out on the road each day! Doesn't hurt to ask for a good journey, right?

I don't have a lot of road under my feet yet, but the only way you get calluses on your soles is to take that first step, yeah?

[[Skipper is only a level 1 cleric, but I like to think he'd be a good fit for your campaign since I enjoy the story and roleplay aspects. It's my first time trying out the online PBP, so if I'm doing anything wrong, please let me know.]]

You are doing great skipper!

Very full description. Thanks for bringing your char to the thread :-)

Sczarni

I've got a DM baby I've been wanting to do something with it'd be level 3 and 2/3rds. (8xp total)

would this be cool? I'm new to PbP and can post frequently while at work, but not as often when not (school and other things)

If it is, the two character concepts the character could become is an older human invulnerable rager, and a deaf aasimar oracle.

Lantern Lodge

I'm nearly done with Part 3 of First Steps. If I could, I would love to jump in, but I can't say that I would be done in time.

I am interested in the threading and I want to play a duel cursed Oracle ,curses haunted and clouded vision, off the top of my head a back story he got hooked on dark magic which ended up killing his wife and kids and was haunted by their ghosts went mad and damaged his eye sight. A old man that was an Oracle from his village taught him how to coupe. Now he's struggling through life to make things better but still has an addiction to his dark side of madness. He's looking for a way to repent and cure himself. I haven't made this character yet he was from one of my last table tops my friends and me played. What are the restrictions on races, alignments, stats? I always love to role play and I believe that you can have conflicting alignments and conflicting views work together for a better purpose.

Sczarni

since it's PFS as he stated at the start, it'll use PFS guidelines. If you haven't played before, you most likely should start with first steps 1-3 then proceed from there,

Lantz, I'm wondering what would the average level of a level 4, level 1, and 3 level 2s be? Level 2, right?

that might be in option, especially if you were a support character or a damage absorber. as a peer damage dealer I don't think that would work. You might be too high of a level for them to compete.

PFS characters cannot be evil alignment. They cannot seek evil purposes. they can do wrong and off handed things for the good of the organization, but the organization itself is mostly a good organization, if not lawful.

I do also recommend first steps,it is a good introduction to the factions, and the overall arching idea of the Pathfinder Society.

Sczarni

The goal of the Barbarian is mainly to absorb damage, of course being a barbarian he'll be dealing some damage, but it's not the damage focused ones you normally see.

The oracle is, well your usual life oracle =D

The average would be level 2, for one module the character would be lvl 3, then after than 4. which means the module has to cover that range, which most level 1s are too low to play in a module that can cover a lvl 3 or 4 character. (although there are several that do, just depends on what you're picking)

assuming we had a lvl 4, 1, and 3 lvl 2s, that gives us 4+1+2+2+2=11/5 so 2.2 roughly =D

Sczarni

I'd certainly recommend playing up in the tiers though, but any game with lvl 2s or higher, really shouldn't get lvl 1s involved much, as they'll get killed just by lucky crits heh.

Ok that's fine I still am interested and still want to play an oracle that's duel cursed( haunted and clouded vision) I can still have that story only tweaks is I didn't have a deity or patrons when I started my oracle training and my nativity costed my life. My wife and child died because my foolish, selfish mistake. So now I choose good and healing patrons but Ian constantly reminded of my wife and daughter haunted by there presents and ghosts I was desperate and damaged my eye sight. I gained another curse , clouded vision this way.) my way to repent is to aid adventurers with there quests and possibly find forgiveness along the way for myself and for my wife and child. Alignment: NG- CG

Liberty's Edge

If level 1 works, I submit.

Description:

Travelworn, balding beneath his wide-brimmed hat, bearded and jovial, this man has an easy grin on his face even when sleeping. With a sturdy build and a serious, but kind, face there is a familiar solidness about him. His travelling gear is all well kept and purely functional and you get the feeling that he rarely sleeps under the same roof more than one night in a row. An exceptionally large symbol of Cayden Cailean hangs from a sturdy leather cord hung about his shoulders, and you aren't sure if the whiff of whiskey about him is off his breath or or from that all too functional seaming mug. The readiness of his grin and a slight glassiness about the eyes reassure you that this apparent priest of the Lucky Drunk is readily about the business of his deity.

Background:

Brother Felinros spent the past twelve years of his life wandering Golarian by foot, mostly in an extended pub crawl. Working as a courier, teamster, porter, messenger, or whatever else kept enough coin in his pocket to continue his travels and enjoy a good drink or several at the end of the day. Over the past few years, however, some of the darkness and oppression he has witnessed in his travels have caught in the young Varasian's craw a bit. Slavery, bigotry, dictatorships, oligarchy, and other social ills that he had often ignored have grown in the back of his mind until his conscience simply couldn't bare to allow him to wander obliviously any longer. Felinros began helping the oppressed as he could, aiding the poor, helping servants escape harsh masters and even freeing a few slaves illegally. As the greater good became more and more the driving force behind his travels, a clarity settled upon him through the will of Cayden Cailean. The way of the Lucky Drunk had been Felinros's lifestyle for sometime, but now he pursued it with a zeal, and Cailean answered with a true calling, imbuing Felinros with a the gift of the gab and furious need to challenge those who oppress as he travelled the world.

Felinros, now donning the title Brother as a brother to all who need his aid, began to speak with a divinely sincere sense of humor that endeared those he met. Coupled with the holy gifts of spells and healing that the Lucky Drunk bestowed upon him, Brother Felinros formally joined the Andoran sect of the Pathfinders to give additional purpose to his travels, to fight oppression and dictatorships directly and indirectly, wherever he encountered them. So, generally with a heady buzz from the whiskey he sips throughout the day from his holy symbol, Brother Felinros looks forward to wandering adventure with a new zeal, and a burning fury to bring justice and joy to the world around him.

As you can see he is very focused on channeling energy moving forward, but fair warning: Due to his general intoxication, his channels can leave the recipients feeling slightly drunk - as if they just downed a boilermaker.

Grand Lodge

I would like to volunteer my second character.
His name is Rogar Dulaïnsson, brother to Dalynn and Grommar,
son of Stravoz and Thora, son of Tarrok the Elder, son of Urgo.

Gamewise: Dwarven ranger with the guide archetype, who has been training rigorously to perfect the art of two-weapon fighting.

Do you want more background *here* or in his profile page?

Thanks Aiden. Sounds cool.

It looks really good Brother Felinros. I think a few in our group might have you heal them just for the side-effect :)

Rickmeister, anything you want the players or I to see - do it here. I don't think that we are going to shuffle through pages and pages, so on the offchance that we don't, better just to have it all displayed here as well.

Dark Archive

Kolslag made level 2 his last time out, I haven't finished levelling him up as yet.

He's a Chelaxian Hungry Ghost Monk. He's covered in tattoed script of Asmodeus' laws.

Grand Lodge

I understand. My stats and all are left on my page, I just copied the basics here..

Background:

Rogar Dulaïnsson, brother to Dalynn and Grommar,
son of Stravoz and Thora, son of Tarrok the Elder, son of Urgo, comes from a long line of heroes back in his dwarven homestead.

When he reached the appropriate age, his father started training him in the same way his ancestors had done, ever since the Urgo Strongheart. His grandfather brought a massive stone and the Axe of the Hearthfire, and he was explained he would have to build up his strength until he could cleave it in two with a single blow.

Confident in his abilities and his growing strength, the adolescent Rogar trained and trained for many months. He however never felt confident enough to test his power.
When his uncle visited him Rogar explained his dilemma. It was then that he understood that pure strength alone might not be enough, that he needed something more.

So he decided to train in a different way, on top of his muscle building exercises with the massive waraxe. He would start cleaving woodblocks for his mother, their neighbours, anyone in their street, etc. This allowed him to experience the way the axe had to move and hit the pieces of wood. The downside however was that he found the light axes easier to use, and this was not the satisfaction of his father Stravoz.

It was thus that Rogar was given a choice: continue with the normal training, in the way that has brought many victories to the family name, or ...

Rogar chose the first option, even though he knew this was not where his heart was to be found. And after 15 days of hardship, he decided it was enough. He left the home in the middle of the night, vowing not to return until he could prove to his father and grandfather that it was not the size that matters, but the courage and fire in your heart.

He chose to use his knowledge of the lands to guide others safely through the wilderness. He learned to channel his anger and focus it on the task, whether it be a harmless object, or a subject in his way to his destiny.

Flori is an orc-blooded sorcerer, level 3, from an abandoned PbP. I'm not sure what your group is looking for, but she's a fun character, and I'd like to play her some more.

Flori:
Flori is a half orc sorcerer. On the tall side, she cuts a strong and shapely figure, with greenish skin, green eyes and black, thick, well-styled hair. Flori has an eye for fashion, and likes to look her best, with elegant clothes and makeup accentuating her charms. On adventures, though, she dresses practically, but still hates to look disheveled, and casts prestidigitation on herself whenever she gets a little dirty.

She's quite charming and even pretty to some non-orcs, but is only attracted to human men. The problem is, they don't reciprocate that attraction due to her prominent half-orc canine teeth and green skin. She spent some time as a hired hand on some ships based in Absalom, but to be honest, she wasn't much of a sailor. She got by because her magic and darkvision was useful on a ship, and her cheerful personality made her popular with the crews.

Like many half orcs, Flori has conflicting desires. She read lots of romance stories as a youth, and part of her dreams of finding her true love and becoming a mother, but her orcish side craves action, and even violence. The society gives her plenty of outlets for that.

For a sorcerer, she's just a little too good with a falchion to be believed, and her magic tends to bring the pain. Flori sometimes gives in to her innate fierceness, but she's getting better at knowing when that's actually a good idea and when it isn't.

I can adjust her level, if needed.

Flori, is she a PFS character?

No. She's legal. I can sign her up and pick a faction if she's chosen to play.

The Exchange

Entering the room, the tall half-elf casts a quick glance around. Long, dark hair falls over shoulders and ears in an unaccustomed style. Scarred leather armor give nary a squeak as the figure walks over to a table in the back. Hooking a chair with a soft-soled boot, she sits, her left leg casually pushing her rapier aside as she does.

A slight wave to the serving girl brings a customary glass of wine. Slender fingers grasp the glass and raises it to her lips where she takes a sip. Setting the glass down, she orders a quick meal and sits back to observe, wondering if any of the others will arrive.

Sczarni

Just let me know, I'm good to go (gtg) either way if you want one of the two options I've presented. I'll create a story and stat em out once you decide.

I strongly suggest to everyone that's looking at playing anything with a fresh character to go through in service to lore I-III before doing anything else, it's the only module you can repeat.

Most of my exp has been from season 3, so if you're going to be running things from there let me know in advance also.

Sovereign Court

Here's the start of my character.

Sovereign Court

Ohh wow I'm sorry I have PFS character it's lvl 3 sorcerer. I didn't put pfs together I'm new at pbp still. Sorry I can still make the character and register it. To play just let me know.

So you'd be running a level 1 PFS sorc then?

Scarab Sages

And remember if you're signing up to play in a PbP PFS game, stick with it, otherwise everyone wasted their time and locked up their character in a PFS legal game, meaning they can't play another game with that character while they're in the PbP.

You are running it as an actual PFS game, and are registered as a judge already right Brayden?

Liberty's Edge

Ok... I have two characters.

Here is my favourite, never having played a Paladin before. I own the PDFs for Blood of Angels, Humans of Golarion and the Inner Sea Guide that were used in making this character.

About Arryn Wildblood

HP 12 AC 17 Touch AC 11, Flatfood AC 16 CMD 16
BAB +1 CMB +6 Fort +4, Reflex +1, Will +1

Discovered as a babe in the wild by a handful of traveling Pilgrims of Ragathiel, Arryn was considered something unusual right from the first - his appearance is definetely unusual, possibly Fey or Elvish - definetely he has the pupiless eyes and pointed ears common to Elvenkind and he has always had a talent for learning things common to nature and the First World, as if remembering old memories rather than learning something new.

As a child of about 4 or 5 years he given into the care of the Clergy to raise - something unusual as this is not the normal practice of his followers, acknowledging that other faiths and organisations are better suited to childcare but Arryn was growing at an unusual rate and was especially strong and focused for his tender age.

After hitting puberty, he was taken on as a squire to another Paladin and through travel and service has ended up in Absolom. His Knight-Master, on the basis of a dream, has knighted the young man and recommended that he take up service with the Society, not knowing the reason but trusting that this was Ragathiel's will.

While Arryn looks Elvish in some respects, he is atypical in others - he stands nearly seven feet tall and is very well muscled. His size and his personality radiates a presence that can be intimating to some.

Traits:
- Devotee of the Green (+1 Know: Nature and Geography and Nature is a class skill)
- Adopted (Human) Bred for War (You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks and a +1 trait bonus on your CMB because of your great size. You must be at least 6 feet tall.)

Feats:
Fey Foundling

That would be the case. She's not "optimized," really. Just different.

A solid-looking dwarf with dented (but polished) armor clanks into the room. He lifts his equally dented helm from his head, having to tug, twist, and grunt a little to get the thing removed. Once successful he grins expansively, happy both to be getting a drink, and because he's spotted Shilyn. Clomping over to her table he bows noisily, and yanks a chair out, the legs scraping loudly with an annoying screech. Plopping into the chair, "Ms. Shilyn, by Torag tis a pleasure to see ya again." and then looks around for someone to fetch him some ale.

Dark Archive

Kolslag looks at the armored Dwarf.

"By Torag's Hammer, that be something you might see everyday."

This dwarf looks a bit odd, well extremely odd, not even recognizable as a dwarf, except by his build. His muscles covered in Infernal characters, his skin oiled, and not a full beard, merely a braided goatee dangling to his belt.

Yes, it will be PFS legal and there will be reporting afterwards. I am registered and everything has to be PFS legal.

In the case it locks up you would basically just back your character out and go somewhere else (that won't happen here though). The reporting doesn't happen until the game is actually over (and it only takes a minute or so to do.) So, your character isn't locked into anything in that situation.

Thanks for the submission, Kolslag and Helaman

Amnur and Shilyn, Good to see you here. I contacted "Lore" and she won't be in for this one, on account of Lore being in another PbP game. Did you want me to contact Lauranna and Mr. Hawke?

Liberty's Edge

Brother Felinros just got picked up in another game so has to withdraw here. Sorry! Hopefully another time as I am looking forward to more PFS stuff.

Silver Crusade

I'd say may as well reach out to them. We got lots of fun submissions though, so I'm not feeling immense pressure to get them here. Except for the joy of their company of course.

The Exchange

I'd say give them a courtesy shout. I'll continue to drink Amnur under the table observing ;)

Sczarni

Do you want one of mine? and if so the barbarian or the oracle?
