She does NOT have improved trip but will not let go the whip (at least not this time) if the trip fails.

Wrong character. That was Kitoro.

Oh crap. Kip Up, I don't take AoO's that's well cool.

Jirelle shuffles over a little to the east to gain flanking for her next strike on her foes, grabbing her buckler as she does so for hopes of a better defense.

She eyes her mark and thrusts once more aiming for under the ribs of the pink bandit. They don't need all these men to carry a sceptre.

Inspired flanking stab: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 1 + 2 = 22

Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6

I will be using Oppotune parry and reposte on the next successful hit on me. Also I'd rather ask than be wrong. It says it takes one move action to don a shield. Don't know if buckler's are cool and I can draw it and don it in one move? If so it's 10 damage due to precision strike

Killia ducks under the bandits swing and looks at the two targets before him, deciding it better to take out the one Jirelle and himself had been tackling the Tiefling strikes out the pink shirted thief. And here I thought that we had been told they don't go for the kill, fooled me!

Peribras Sandlock wrote:
Peribras will eat the two AoOs. Full round action to still be prone is insane.

The RAW is indeed limiting, hence the reason tripping can be so effective. By my interpretation of the rules for crawling and acrobatics, it might be reduced to one move action to crawl 5 feet while tumbling, but it would add 10 to the DC for moving at "full" crawling speed. I didn't bring it up earlier since you would not have made such a daunting check and gotten the AOO's anyway, but for future reference. *shrugs*

Anywho, retroactive AOO's served fresh!
Red Battleaxe AOO vs Peribras: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Purple Battleaxe AOO vs Peribras: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Miss!

@Jirelle, you had said you were sleeping in armor, so I had assumed you to be already wearing the buckler. But normally it would take a move action to draw the buckler, which you could combine with a regular move, and a move action to don it. I am still learning the hybrid class features, Kip Up does indeed negate the 12 damage you took by AOO.

Peribras, having received a blow as he found his feet, but only a moderate one, takes another step back and loads his sling-staff. He flings it with terrible force and catches the bandit in his throat. The man cuts his eyes toward those searching the cargo with worry and impatience clear in his eyes. He does not look like he can take another bullet. Ash continues to try and strike a bandit with his hooves, but to no effect. Peribras took 6 damage in round 1.

Jirelle heeds Killia's advice and steps into a flank, delivering a deep stab wound to her opponent with her deft rapier. Kitoro draws her whip and lashes out with it at one of the most troublesome bandits and handily relieves him of his footing. One of her merchant admirers sends up a cheer for her well placed trip.

At last, Lyan lands a blow and it's a strong one. His bastard sword slices deeply into the leg of his avid attacker, taking some of the zeal out of his eyes. Antonella steps into a flank and pummels the now prone man. Killia delays to make the best use of his position. He strikes quickly with his blades, sending the Pink bandit to his knees, clutching at the wound before he crumples to the jungle floor. The tiefling then turns his blade-work on the prone man who started all this trouble and slashes his throat open. The man's life gushes out in a font of red and he moves no more.

The merchants continue to hack away at their opponents, one scoring a negligible nick while the one flanking with Killia delivers a nasty strike. But with no one left to fight, Samarjit drops his pack and begins rummaging in it quickly.

You all brace yourself for another assault, but just then a cry goes up from those digging in your cargo and the bandits, well... those who are able, immediately withdraw from combat. They spin off in many different directions and melt back into the dark, dense foliage of the surrounding jungle.

END OF COMBAT!

Phalgun sheathes his sword and immediately turns to take inventory of his men. Clearly pleased to see most of them standing, he approaches Samarjit with a look of concern on his face. But as he draws close, Samarjit pulls what he has been searching for out of his pack. A pair of well made manacles and presses them into Phalgun's hands. He then sits back, wincing from his heavy wounding. He looks like he will survive, but he will need much treatment and rest which is not soon found in the jungle.

Vudrani:
S: "We have one, Subedar. Our mission is a success."
P:"Yes, the Thakur will be pleased. Rest now, my friend."

Phalgun binds the unconscious bandit's hands behind his back and then turns to your group. "My friends, I am sorry we were unable to protect your merchandise. Stolen magical items must be a tremendous financial loss. We must claim this prisoner, in truth, we were sent here to lay a trap for the thieves and capture one for interrogation. But I offer you a chance at him first. Just do not kill or maim him, as we will need him to walk under his own power for the journey back. My thanks for your aid, and well fought, all of you!"

When you check the cargo, the scepter is indeed gone.

The two downed bandits each carry a battleaxe, composite shortbow (Str +2) with 20 arrows, and wear studded leather armor.

“I pray to the Iro-shu you don’t waste it.”

She draws a deep breath, but instead of launching into a religious tirade, the paladin changes topic suddenly hoping to elicit an honest answer.

“Your Master is vexed with his fork-tongued allies. Why? What would cause him to betray them and give up his high-risk lifestyle?”

Her tight smile does not reach her eyes. “Is it true he has long whiskers, loves milk and hates a bath?”

Following the quick dispatch of his two foes, Killia kneels to wipe his blades clean of blood on the bandits clothing before sheathing them and checking himself for wounds. Finding none, he shrugs and carefully moves over to the cargo to check through it. Hearing the two 'merchants' speak he smiles to himself and motions to Phalgun discretely to join him.

Assuming he does so, Killia speaks to the man softly in Vudrani.

Vudrani:
"It is good to see you work for more than just Coin, we too have a mission in this Jungle that goes beyond profit. What information do you have of these bandits, beyond what my friends scare from him over there? If we can work together, we may be able to procure more prisoners for your Thakur."

The Tiefling will not tell these atrangers the full nature of their mission but will try and start up an alliance with them.

Bluff to conceal truth (if needed): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

It is plain to Antonella's trained eye that the bandit in yellow's days of ambushing caravans is over. He has gone beyond the mortal plane.

Samarjit watches her assume her pose with interest, his eyes tight with the pain of his wounds. But as her healing energies sweep over him, the agony in his features is replaced with wonder. "You have come to my rescue again, Lady Antonella. You have my gratitude and anything I may do for you, you need only ask."

He backs her up, standing behind her and scowling at the prisoner as she begins her interrogation.

~~~
Phalgun comes aside with Killia, an eyebrow raised in curiosity as the tiefling makes vague allusions to their purpose. As he listens to his proposal of an exchange of information, he smiles and nods with a knowing look in his eye.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Vudrani:
"You have keen ears, my good man. Or should I say, my good Pathfinder? No, do not be concerned. I have suspected that you might be from the moment we caught sight of each other. It is very rare to see such a disparate bunch of travelling companions in Jalmeray unless they are with the Society. In our efforts to gather more information, we learned that your organization has suffered even more losses at the hands of Zamir and his gang than the Thakur. All we know beyond the fact that he is behind these robberies is that several prominent wizards, a few of them acquaintances of the Thakur, have gone missing. We believe they are being held against their will. He is very interested in their welfare and would see them returned home, unharmed if possible. It is the primary reason we were sent to capture one of the thieves for information on their whereabouts."
"To be honest, it still surprises me that Zamir is at the heart of all this. He was always proud and a bit rebellious, but a short time ago you would have found him boasting of his prowess and preening for the women in a tavern like a fool. Not arranging robberies and kidnappings. If I were a wagering man, I'd say someone or something else is behind all of this. You wouldn't happen to know who?" Phalgun regards Killia with an expectant expression, encouraging you to share a little information in return.
I like keeping dialogue contained to their intended avatars to minimize confusion. Bandit relevant post will be next.
Once he and Ash are healed, Peribras mounts up and spurs his pony into pursuit in the direction he decides is best. But despite his best efforts, the trail quickly goes cold and he is unable to follow further. Even Darkpaw can detect no sign of their scent. Perhaps this is the reason the scepter ruse has proven necessary.
~~~

Back at the camp, interrogations are proving more productive. As he comes back to consciousness surrounded by a small, very angry crowd, the bandit quickly realizes he must act in his own best interest.

"Alright! No need to part me from my hands, ladies. I've got no loyalties to that shape-shifting bastard. He pressed my band into serving him by threatening blackmail. I think the only people who do serve him loyally are those crazy Tiger's Eye monks..."

He goes on to describe the ruined monastery where Zamir has set up his operation. He confirms that the man himself can transform into a tiger, somehow, as well as keeping one for a pet. An archer is kept atop each wall of the monastery and the grounds are defended by monks. He cannot give you firm numbers as he does not know who will be present when you arrive. At least four archers and five monks and/or bandits will be on guard throughout the monastery. Zamir is generally to be found in the basement. You do not sense any duplicity in what he tells you.

I think that's all the questions addressed, let me know if there are any more or any other business before we move along. When you are ready, post a stealth roll for approaching the monastery.

Killia smiles at Phalgun at his mention of the Pathfinder society and waits for him to impart their information. Killia listens patiently, absorbing what he can from the Vudrani agent.

Vudrani:
"Indeed, we are agents of the society and wish to seek out the man who saw to the death of one of our Venture Captains. we have heard that Zamir is either a Weretiger or a Rakshasa, though it would appear his fellow over their tells us that he is the former. We also have intelligence that he has formed an alliance with the Aspis Consortium, the Society's greatest foe. We will be following the Bandits to the fort they reside in. If we find these wizards and they are held against their will, we shall endeavour to free them to the Thakur. If not, we will capture them for the Thakur. Is this agreeable?"

You may do that as well, I'll even give you a bonus if you use the dead bandits clothing. Don't forget that taking ten is an option too, folks! We would just appear to be some guards, not specific ones. If you show up in one of their uniforms it should be easier to fool them. If, on the other hand, there are only a handful of guards in the whole group and they all know one another it could be disastrous ans we would need to switch over to a very good bluff.

Kitoro is correct, they have a fairly uniform dark cloak that they wear. I know I painted them in colors during combat but that was just to help differentiate.

The captive bandit nods at Jirelle. "The Thakur's justice is not known to be merciful, but if you can stop Zamir, he may consider your plea. You will not need their names... indeed, they may be mistrustful if you try to call them by name. But if you can convince the guards that you have a better deal that's in everyone's best interest, they will let you pass. Be sure to approach from the north, that will give you the best chance to get close enough to talk before arrows are flying. Good luck!"

After allowing some lead time, as instructed, you use the wayfinder to point you in the right direction. Following the bandit's suggestion, you loop around to the north side of the ruins before you approach, using whatever means you can to conceal yourselves. The path appears to be a game trail and it is well concealed by the overhanging leaves and vines.

Bushes and debris litter the nearby hillside with the remains of the outer walls of an ancient stone structure visible above the foliage and reaching a height of about fifteen feet. The shattered stone remains of a taller building are visible inside the walls.

Jirelle steps forward and clears her throat. "You there. We're here to free you from your servitude to Zamir. We're here to help so do not raise the alarm. I know he's forcing you to work him. But that stops today if you're willing to help us get to him? I won't ask you to fight him, but at least keep his monks at bay while we do." Hoping her call up to the man wasn't too loud or too quiet, she runs with the diplomatic route. Taking note of the crumbled wall in front of her she would cross if things went sour. "Help us, then you can walk away from this life of being under his thumb. Think freedom!"

Kitoro is not as bold as Belondia, and is still planning on sneaking in in. I'm not sure how the attempt to disguise her played out or if she sprung the straight-forward approach on her as they tried to sneak in. I'm going to assume she did not accept Kit's invitation to disguise her and marched off to boldly confront them head-on. In that case Kitoro will wait in a hidden location and will watch and see how it plays out before trying to slip through as a guard. Heck, if it works out badly, she can use it as a distraction.

The man's head jerks and he whirls around at being addressed so suddenly, bringing his bow up. He does not look completely convinced, but he is hesitating.

Hostile characters are a DC 25 diplomacy check to improve their attitude to Unfriendly. Then you will also need a DC 20 check after that to improve their attitude to Indifferent in order to negate this combat. I'll allow the others a chance to aid Jirelle's attempt before deciding the outcome of this.

At his words, three other archers come out from hiding and exit, stage right. Leaving you to explore the ruins at your leisure.

This open courtyard is paved with flagstones and relatively free of debris. Statues ring the central open area, each depicting a tiger-headed man in a martial arts stance. "Well I'll be damned." Kit murmers as she leaves concealment. "Never saw a trick like that and I sure as %&$ have seen them all."

Yeah... Sorry for the potential death trap guys. More going with Jirelle's description here. Feel free to stop any of my crazy ideas, haha.

"I am unable to." Jirelle looks at Kitoro with a blank expression. "Some times it's all come down to; if you don't ask, you don't get. Don't get me wrong. I didn't think it would work. But if they really didn't want to be here then there was always a chance."

Jirelle turns to to her other allies and gives and nodded to their success. "Now I believe some of you are fond of creeping around. So let's try the stealthy route now."
