What a horrific situation to have been in. They are lucky. "It was by chance we came upon you, but I suppose you are welcome," he says while working away at the Demon's Bile with his cold iron dagger. Then he searches the room for anything else of interest.

Task completed, he heaves one of the bodies over his shoulder. "Let's be on our way. Someone as unstable as Gellion is going to cause more problems and with all his friends missing, we won't have a lot of time if something like this hasn't already happened again. Once his parents are healed, they should be more talkative."

On the way out, Faust collects the diary with the bloody writing in it.

Seeing nothing more harmless than a pair of near-unconscious middle-aged humans, Takumi waves his hand to dismiss his eagle, leaving pieced of soiled paper lying forgotten on the floor.

Looking with some indignation at the woman, he glowers, rather uncharacteristic from his usual composed manner. "Your son caused all this? To his own parents? He will have much to answer for." He turns to examine the room first, casting a simple cantrip to detect any source of magic in the room. Once satisfied there's nothing else of interest, he moves to help move the couple despite not being paticularly strong himself.

Takumi also has a wand of infernal healing, so he can split the charges.

There are five faint conjuration auras in a box under the goo.

As Faust works to clear away the demon's bile covering the eastern portion of the bedroom--a task that is sure to take hours with his dagger--he begins to uncover a few scribbled notes and a handful of arrowheads (steel, stone, cold iron, and obsidian). The cold iron arrow head sits in a space on the floor unoccupied by demon's bile. He also eventually clears a box of the violet ichor.

Notes:
"Adverse reaction to cold iron. What about magic? Fire? Cold? Further trials required."

Later...

This late in the evening, you are spared any curious stares as you haul the two nearly comatose bodies to the temple of Erastil. Ildris hurries to your side and guides you to a pair of empty cots. When you explain where they came from and what was going on in the house, he agrees that healing them in order to gain further information is a priority. After a brief prayer, a sliver of strength is restored to the man and the woman. They introduce themselves as Altius and Beldonna Vazarro, father and mother of Gellion.

The pair are unable to shed much light on the nature of Gellion's experiments, only that he had begun to act strangely and increasingly obsessed with his experiments.

"He started ranting about some warehouse," Beldonna mentions.

Altius nods, "We saw him heading towards the warehouses yesterday. I think it was yesterday. He was helping his friend, Morvinarr. I remember because I thought it was odd that the usually straight-laced Morvinarr was so drunk that he couldn't walk."

"That night we went to confront Gellion in his room, and... and..." Beldonna tries to continue the story.

Altius finishes for her. "We heard all this noise. When we opened the door, a giant spider and a tiny little man-thing attacked us."

To confirm the 5 glowing auras belong to the five potions uncovered?

Rather surprising, Takumi takes part in scraping away the goo with a spare broom he found, not seeming to mind the mess it mind make on his clothes. He aims especially for the auras that he sense, eventually uncovering the chest. He continues to maintain his magical sight to study what has been found.

The mayor, Sandra Trinelli, arrives at the temple. She looks you over and clears her throat. "Word on the street is that you have been busy. Tell me, what have you learned so far?"

I've tolerated the insane in survival situations several times. Dark halls, creeping danger, and eldritch horrors have a way of twisting the mind. Every time, the only healing we could provide them in the end was with the sword. Faust shakes his head dourly at Takumi's promise to Gellion's parents.

He eyes the mayor as she walks in. Well-informed and to the point. I like her. "Gellion has been experimenting on a peculiar substance called Demon's Bile. For one reason or another, he also appears to have become violently deranged," he explains emotionlessly, as though he were reading a textbook.

"We need to find which warehouse he was fixated on and pay it a visit ourselves. And we can't send these two folks home until we are sure there isn't a giant spider and a tiny man thing in their son's room, ready to attack again... perhaps it would be a good thing if we paid his room a visit before going to the warehouse."

Faust makes himself comfortable and waits for the Mayor's signal to continue with their investigation. After a few minutes, he begins thumbing through Gellion's diary.

Mayor Trinelli leaves a heavy sack of coins in the offering box as she leaves. Ildris bobs his head in thanks. Several minutes later, a guardsman comes to the temple.

"The mayor says that the way is clear," the guard says.

True to her word, the streets are empty on the way to the warehouses--no beggars, no drunkards, no young lovers on a secret rendezvous. The silence becomes a bit eerie as you walk between the evacuated buildings. Suddenly, you notice motion on the rooftop to your right out of your peripheral vision.

Everyone except Imojin and Whiskers, make a Will save vs. DC 11 (fear, mind-affecting) or be Frightened for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds. Success reduces effect to Shaken for 1 round.

A tiny, winged demon capers on the top of the roof to your right. He cackles as a wave of irrational fear emanates from him. The green-scaled demon then leaps from the roof and swoops towards Takumi, clawing dangerously close to the elf's face.

As the unnatural and irrational fear washes over his mind, Faust quickly stymies the flow and controls his mental capacities. Insolent creature, I have dealt with far worse than you.

He stalks over to the quasit, scimitar in hand, and bats the demon to the ground. "You're hardly the scariest thing here," he snarls.

Faust cuts a long, deep line that hemorrhages a dark ichor down the tiny demon's back. It spins in the air, turning it's hate-filled gaze toward the dhampir. It chitters in a language that threatens to nauseate.

Takumi clenches his teeth hard, fighting the overwhelming fear that sweeps over him. He fights it off, but is badly shaken. He turns to quickly examine the demon, but does not recognise it from his studies.

Not liking being in close quarters with the creature, Takumi steps away and draws a wand. Raising it, he fires an arcane bolt which slams into the demon.

Imojin rides over and stands over the little demon, blade out and ready to perform a coup de grace. since it's a full round action to do so, she can only move and prepare for it ... someone else who was already standing over it is welcome to do it before she does.

Takumi keeps his wand trained on the demon, ready to blast it some more should it return to consciousness.

Similarly, Takumi is also not suited for coup de grace... Um, I mean for delivering one. But also not for receiving one either.

As the oozing stops and wounds close, Faust's lips curl into a wicked smile. He slowly turns his blade upside down and jabs it into the quasit's chest, impaling it through the dirt. Releasing the sword, he steps back to admire his handiwork.

Shortly thereafter he shakes his head, as if to clear it, and retrieves his weapon. "Looks like we are in the right place. Stay alert."

Imojin thrusts his sword into the tiny demon, though even that wound seems insufficient to end the tenacious creature. Faust steps forward and drives the point of his blade through a surprising amount of resistance and then onward through the demon's heart. Finally, everything stops twitching.

Wary, you continue onward into the warehouse district. You decide to start--and end--your search at the largest of the buildings. It seems clear that this is the source of the town's problem.

The rusty front doors of this large, dingy warehouse are slightly ajar, as if someone forgot to close them entirely. Sprawled across the door and the southern side of the building are thick, disgusting, purplish-black strands that pulse with malevolence.

"I think it goes without saying that I don't like this." Heaving a deep sigh, Takumi keeps his wand up and moves towards the door behind the more frontliners of his party, waiting for someone to open it.

Faust clutches the amulet around his neck and a swirling darkness flows around his hand. As he pulls away, it coalesces into a disk around his forearm. He then taps his blade against his boots and it begins to shine with a new malevolence. Weapon in hand, he prepares to open the door.

The purple ichor quickly--and with something disturbingly reflective of intent--pulls away from the place where Shalendra touched the door. It clears a zone roughly five feet in diameter. The revealed wood appears boggy and more rotten than the wooden siding further from the dark stain.

We'll say there's sufficient time left on your first mage armor.

Faust and Imojin move forward to push open the doors, but the moist doors rebound after moving a short way, proving that the doors are locked. A well crafted lock is set between the two doors.

You can Disable Device, break the door down, or work on sundering the door with weapon attacks.

For breaking the door down, I'll let up to 3 additional people aid the main door buster.

For sundering the door, as many as you want can attack the door each round.

A barn door's Touch AC is 0, Shalendra. ;)

How embarrassingly foolish... Cursing under his breath, Faust heads to the open door. "This is a waste of time," he declares. After a quick search for traps, he steps through the open door.

Faust fails to notice the purple ooze begin to writhe as he approaches. Thousands of tiny black spiders boil out from the door and swarm over the dhampir, crawling into his hair and under his armor. The vicious little vermin's bites sting and threaten to overwhelm the swordsman. A giant spider the size of a horse leaps down from the roof, joining its diminutive brethren in trying to make a meal out of Faust. Fortunately, Faust keeps enough of his wits with him to fend off the larger spider.
