GM Aerondor |
If CORE add CORE rider.
If you are currently in a game or expect to apply a GM chronicle before play, hold off putting in the information.
To make my life easier when it comes to filling in chronicles, if you could each put in a single post with:
Chronicle: What chronicle number this is for the character
History: What scenarios has the character completed? (or been credited with); any other chronicles (special boons etc)
Name:(the player) real name (as you have it appear on your chronicle sheets)
AKA: Character name
Faction: Your faction
PFS: # for the character
XP: starting XP, Note if Slow track!
Prestige: Starting prestige
Fame: Starting Fame
Gold: Starting wealth you bring into the adventure. This should be the total on your previous chronicle. If you want to buy any new stuff... see further on.
Day job: include the roll or that you don't have one. If you want to use a reroll at the end just note here you may want to use a reroll. If you don't include a roll I'll be assuming you take ten. Add the actual gold amount if you want to save me looking it up...
Spend: If you want to buy anything before the scenario starts (apart from your initial 150gp if you are a new character) include it here. This will appear in the "items bought" and/or "items sold" part of the chronicle.
Try to hold off actual discussion here until we have one post per character with those details (makes life easy for me to make the chronicles for you all at the end).
Please add an Icon for your character to the map. If you don't know how, let me know and I'll help. Also dot into the gameplay thread, or just hang around and RP there if you like.
Robyyn |
I will be your relief valve. I've overextended myself; Robyyn is in a game and I have no other backup PCs available that would be appropriate, especially with a Scarab Sages focus.
Thanks for the opportunity; I'll look forward to playing with you sometime again in the future, Aerondor! I always enjoy your games.
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
Ha! Long abandoned temples! Sounds perfect!
DM Livgin, checking in. Tonight is PFS night, so I won't get my character info in until late tonight or wednesday.
Jessica Catalan Organized Play Line Developer |
GM Aerondor |
No hurry to get in. But I can start when we have the team up. I'm thinking this will be a low tier group from the sign up sheet.
I'm happy for substitutions too.
Igor of Caliphas |
{**Spit take!**} Okay, so at least I'm not the only person to put his scarab sage in another game. Igor and his little- his little whatever it is out playing elsewhere, however I can offer these five, non-core, first-level sages for your consideration:
1. A Samsaran librarian (wood-school wizard)
2. A magic warrior from the M'wangi Expanse (magus)
3. A sullen teenage mask of Nyarlathotep (oracle)
4. A wizard from the Unseen University's School of Postmortem Communications (certainly not a necromancer)
5. And an author of weird fiction (occultist)
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
Even though it says 'Scholar' in the name; Kett is a barbarian through and through. So he is not going to fill the researcher role well.
Durlo Deadshield |
Chronicle: 4

AKA: Durlo Deadshield

No, sorry, this is the Pathfinder session. Call of Cthulhu is in B13; it's just down the hall and around the corner.

GM Aerondor |
So that is three confirmed. Two working out which characters you would like, one withdrawn and one silent.
I'll drop Marjim a note.
GM Aerondor |
Marjim has pulled out, so that leaves five of you.
Mesmerist -1
Barbarian/fighter -3
Slayer -2
With Two TBD. Looks like you may be light on healing and skills, but most scenarios at low tier can work with any combination of characters.
Magrat Garlic |

Birseko Naam |
I'll have a Psychic 2. First time playing him at level 2 (when all the choices get locked in) so will try to get all that finalized asap. Pretty busy day today though so likely won't be until sometime tomorrow.
GM Aerondor |
Thats okay, post in gameplay when you are ready.
Nb occult classes - my understanding of the occult mechanics is poor (at best).

You and me both, but I found the top bit of this linked page really useful.
GM Aerondor |
Talk to me about the superstition talent.
I'm assuming that is different from the barbarian superstition rage power which only operates when raging.
Durlo Deadshield |
Yes it is different. Basically it is always on, but only against arcane spells, and Durlo must save against arcane spells even if beneficial. Psychic and divine work normally. I'll paste the text from Horror Adventures below in case you want to read the whole thing.
Instead of being able to select ranger combat style feats as slayer talents, a witch killer can select any of the following barbarian rage powers as slayer talents, treating his slayer level as his barbarian level: clear mind, disruptive, eater of magic, spell sunder, spellbreaker, sunder enchantment, superstition, or witch hunter. If the witch killer selects a rage power that can normally be used only once per rage (eater of magic, spell sunder, or sunder enchantment), he can use it once per day per 5 slayer levels he possesses, though no more than once per round in any event. The other rage powers affect the slayer constantly, though the superstition and witch hunter rage powers apply only against arcane spells and spell-like abilities and the creatures that use them.
GM Aerondor |
I'll advance gameplay on Monday even if we don't get a post from Birseko in before then.
Birseko Naam |
Chronicle: 4
History: Chronicle 1: Murder's Mark module; chronicle 2: Queen of Thorns boon; chronicle 3: Ley Line Access boon.
Name: Abraham Z.
AKA: Birseko Naam
Faction: Dark Archive
PFS: 100198-30
XP: starting XP, 3XP, Normal track.
Prestige: Starting prestige : 2
Fame: Starting Fame: 4
Gold: 205 gp
Day job: Craft (Tattoos): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 If I don't use my GM reroll during the scenario, I'll use it for this Day Job roll, in which case: Craft (Tattoos), GM Stars: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 11 + 2 = 20
Birseko Naam |
@GM, just wanted to let you know that I've finished updating Birseko's online profile to fully reflect his level 2 rebuild. If you looked at it before today (Sunday mid-day) it was slightly out of date in a few respects - sorry for any inconvience.
GM Aerondor |
No worries. I generally just look at them when needed during the game. Core characters I typically look over before hand, as sometimes odd feats, traits or spells have crept in. But this isn't core.
GM Aerondor |
I have a quick camping trip before School starts back. I'll be away Saturday til Tuesday.
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
I'm attempting to make a character that it an academic/science "fan", the character is a work in process.
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
Other than some non-verbal communication with the crew, Kett does not speak of it out loud.
Birseko Naam |
By the way, I just came across this FAQ which indicates that you cannot surreptitiously cast psychic magic without anyone noticing. This seems weird to me, and to get rid of a lot of the point of psychic magic, but anyway, it is what it is, and it would mean that I cannot, for example, just cast a Perception-boosting spell while sitting at the dinner table with everyone without them noticing...
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
The way I headcanon psychic magic is hair standing on end, eyes glowing weirdness.
Off-topic question; if casting a spell is always obvious, is concentrating on a spell (detect magic/thoughts) obvious?
GM Aerondor |
I'd think that concentration on an effect would be pretty much like trying to do a Sudoku in your head while having dinner. Difficult, but doable. Eating, talking and concentration all at the same time would be harder.
Birseko Naam |
Traveling through Monday with limited access, will post when I can, bot as needed.
Birseko Naam |
Sorry, prepping for a trip, won't really have a chance to engage until I get to the airport tomorrow
Kett, Raptorscale Scholar |
I'm actually cool with the original plan. Going to try to kill Dakang feels reckless and it feels like jumping the rails.
But he altered a book. That is unforgivable. Kett is sad-angry.
Esper Zevral |
Advanced Warning: Tomorrow is both of my children's birthdays, so I likely won't have time to make a post. Also, this Saturday is their birthday party, so I probably won't be able to post that day either.
Thanks!
Birseko Naam |
Sorry for the delay in posting - I've had family visits for the past week - life should be returning to a more normal pace tomorrow.
GM Aerondor |
That was a good concentration check to fail. Did you really want an extra 1d4 ⇒ 3 CR2 monsters to fight? I didn't think so.
GM Aerondor |
Question time. The major threat has been handled. The game has been going on for more than two months. There is really nothing left that is likely to prove a significant challenge to this group compared to what you have already been through, especially as there is nothing to stop you healing up before continuing.
I'm happy to continue the exploration if you would like, as there are some fun story elements, but if you have had enough I can hand-wave the rest for you.
Durlo Deadshield |
I'm fine either way. As long as no one wants to free up their character for something else, Durlo is ready to continue on.
Esper Zevral |
Yeah, I'd play it through.
Birseko Naam |
I'm fine with playing through too. Also: wow, that was something for a low tier 1-5! How many hp did that thing have?
GM Aerondor |
It had 51hp, 3 uses of mass cause light wounds and four of channel negative energy. With negative energy affinity it healed whenever it did the harming.
Play through it is. Ac 19 (when buffed), spider climb to stay out of melee, a tightly spaced room with a good roof height. Lots of things in its favor.
Birseko Naam |
Posting likely sparse for the next few days with work, travel, family - will catch up when I can - please bot as needed.
GM Aerondor |
I've done the basic reporting for this, I can always update it if one of you dies unexpectedly.
For you scarab sages, most will probably have a FJC entry about putting a haunt to rest - and you have done that.
GM Aerondor |
Well done everyone. Chronicles are linked about. If you have any final questions about the scenario feel free to ask them.
Please do check your chronicles and make sure they are ok. If you can drop a note in this thread once you have checked them that would be much appreciated, so I can mark the game as inactive.
Esper Zevral |
Looks great! Thanks!
