Sharien Oakfoot |
Sharien follows the others, this time a bit more well-prepared than she has been in the past. She pulls out a mage armor scroll and casts it on herself.
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
down and to the left ^_^
"stay ready its been to quiet as of yet" Gravleon said at head of the group
edit
down the hall and to the left hallway sorry for not being clear
GM Engleaktig |
I don't mean to be thick-headed, but I don't understand what you mean by "down". :-(
Either way, let's say that you guys explore rooms S7 and S8.
First, you go to room S7: This chamber is in a shambles—old wooden benches lie in ruins along the walls, while rusty chains and bits of rotten rope lie scattered on the floor.
Then, you go to room S8: The door to this room has fallen from its hinges. The rectangular chamber beyond seems to have once been a chapel, but now thick sheets of what appear to be cobwebs drape everything within in gossamer threads.
What's your marching order?
Blackheath |
I would suggest Poshment (if he's still with us), Grog, Gravleon, Blackheath, Sharien, Faria.
I'm fine with that party order.
Blackheath readies his bow.
GM Engleaktig |
Faria Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Gravleon Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Grog Init: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Poshment Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Sharien Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Blackheath Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Faria Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Gravleon Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Grog Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Poshment Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Sharien Perc: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
I sent a PM to Poshment. I'd like to give him a day to respond.
From within the cobwebs, three giant spiders jump down onto Poshment. The spiders are "small" size.
Bite+Flank+Charge: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16, Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Bite+Flank+Charge: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17, Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Bite+Charge: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Poshment takes two HP of nonlethal damage from the first two spiders and one HP of lethal damage from the third spider. Their fangs drip with freshly released venom.
Poshment Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Poshment Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Poshment Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
The halfling shakes it off.
The party is up! Initiative is party then spiders. The hallway is plenty wide; you're all essentially a 5-foot-step away from the paladin.
Faria Quorothe |
Well, that's terrifying.
Faria, not wanting to crowd the area, instead backs off a step, calling upon Pharasma to conjure a small shard of ice, then sending it flying towards the nearest spider.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 4 = 1
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Blackheath |
Blackheath imbues his arrow with arcane energy and fires at a spider...
longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
To save text, in the future I will always be doing a swift action arcane strike unless otherwise noted, if that's okay.
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
Gravleon sees the spiders jump on to Grog and steps forward taking a swing at the first spider he can get to "Hold Grog we got you, wretched creatures"
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
and Gm yes you might not have understood me but a part of you did since I did just want to walk down the halls ^_^
edit
well if im flanking dose a 12 hit?
GM Engleaktig |
Blackheath, feel free to add arcane strike in your dice roll. e.g.: [ dice=Longbow+Arcane Strike=Firing into melee ] 1d20+1-4 [ /dice ]
Sharien, since the spiders can't go very far once they've selected a target, and these are 10-foot-squares, I left the tokens off the board. Else, they'd be tiny dots on the map. You are within a 5-foot-step from the spiders. You can 5-foot away or towards them--as you wish.
Gravleon, yes, you're flanking.
____________________________________________________________
Faria, Blackheath, and Gravleon all counterattack. Sadly, they all miss.
Grog and Sharien are up!
Grog half-orc |
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
I think I *got* these! Grog says smiling at Sangre. At last something that can feel my axe blade
Sharien Oakfoot |
Assuming I can point it in a way that hits the spiders and not my allies...
Sharien steps back five feet and fires an acid dart at the nearest spider.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 (-4 if they are currently engaged in melee combat, which they probably are)
acid: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
wow all but Grog rolled badly lol
Sharien Oakfoot |
I'm honestly starting to think the dicebot is set to make lower rolls more often. I'm seeing across all of my PbPs that people are CONSTANTLY rolling 6's or less. It's very frustrating. I've been trying to swim forward 5 feet in one PbP for three rounds, and keep rolling less than 10 twice per round.
GM Engleaktig |
Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 19, Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Poshment Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
The spiders continue to feast.
The party is up, again!

Since we're playing in "campaign mode" we will make adjustments if it looks like there are too many low rolls. :-)
Blackheath |
Unable to see a clear shot, Blackheath drops his bow and drawing his Longsword, steps forward to swing at the spider...
Two-handed Longsword + arcane strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Faria Quorothe |
Not wanting any part of spider-town, and seeing that Grog at least is squashing spiders, Faria is content to stay back and watch to see if any of her companions need her aid.
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Gravleon takes a swing and hits the air with such power it moves some dust...
we are so cursed
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
crit conform: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
"Dammit be still" Gravleon said as he struck the spider
GM Engleaktig |
Gravleon's weapon strikes true, this time. Perhaps is was Mystmorning guiding him again? And, the spider falls. In its death throes however, it takes one final bite at the halfling.
Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Poshment Save vs. Poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, fail
Poshment Save vs. Poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, fail
The crab spider's chelicera pierces Poshments jugular and injects the venom straight into his heart. His eyes go wide for a moment with pain. Then, he relaxes, knowing that he's going "home" to Pharasma. And it's over. He exhales with relief as he expires.
Combat over.
Faria Quorothe |
"Noooo!!! Brother!" Faria rushes to Poshment's side, but can do nothing to revive the noble Halfling. She closes his eyes, making the spiral sign on his breast, then her own.
To her credit, she does not cry, as Pharasma espouses the circle of life. "Let us continue, friends...we can give Poshment a proper burial when we return to the manor."
Sharien Oakfoot |
"Poshment! You long-legged BASTARDS!"
Sharien runs up to the three dead spiders and fires off several rays of frost at each one, freezing the bodies solid, then STOMPS them, sending frozen spider bits skittering across the floor.
Huffing and puffing with anger and exertion, she slowly calms. "My friends... we've lost a great man today. Let us avenge him and rid this place of its cursed nature."
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
"tis a sad day that we must continue and leave our friend here, let me cover him in this so we will be able to take him once we leave" Gravleon takes is his crimson over coat and wraps the halfing in it then places him on a bench so at lest hes off the floor
oh i totally did not know tere was someone else in the group, well hes not getting any deader lets continue lol to the locked door
Blackheath |
well hes not getting any deader
Cold. When I buy it, just toss me into the furnace next to the other haunt.
Blackheath follows the somber party.
GM Engleaktig |
Before you leave...
Room S8: The door to this room has fallen from its hinges. The rectangular chamber beyond seems to have once been a chapel, but now thick sheets of what appear to be cobwebs drape everything within in gossamer threads.
Faria Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Gravleon Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Grog Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Poshment Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Sharien Perc: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Blackheath and Faria both notice a cabinet covered with webs in the northwest wall. You investigate and find out that it contains a few religious supplies, including five vials of holy water, a scroll of lesser restoration, and a wand of cure light wounds (15 charges).
(The loot list has been updated.)
Faria Quorothe |
Faria smiles as she and Blackheath announce their find. "These ought to be quite useful in the trials ahead." She proceeds to the back of the train once again, eager to continue sweeping the place of its foul presence.
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
gravleon stops Faria"you knew him best I'm sorry we could not save him, are you sure we should continue we could stop and bury him the decision is yours"
Blackheath |
Take the nearest door to fill in the blank spaces on the map? Unless anyone has a door preference.
GM Engleaktig |
OK. Let's head southwest, then. To room S6.
This stark room contains a low stone bench against the north wall and a ruined desk to the west that sits under three narrow, barred windows. An old brass brazier lies on its side to the south, surrounded by several rusty branding irons.
Knowledge (History) or Profession (Jailer) or Profession (Lawman or something similar) or Profession (Tattoo Artist) to know more.
Faria Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Gravleon Perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Grog Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Sharien Perc: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Blackheath, Gravleon, and Grog all notice the rising scent of burning flesh.
Blackheath |
Having heard from his companions about the cold haunt that revealed itself with a dropping of temperature before making its frosty attack, Blackheath assumes this is another haunt preparing to animate. He guesses that the smell of burning flesh is connected to the branding irons.
"Watch those branding irons! Everyone, back up and be on guard." He tries to step back and readies his sword to strike.
5' step out of the room (if possible, if it is too congested that's fine) in case it is an area effect, but readying an attack should a haunt appear and attack us directly.
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
Gravleon lifts his shield and takes a step back "get ready something is coming"
no ranks in any of those skills :(
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
"Blast more of these things, well we have more of the vials might as well use one" Gravleon takes one of the vials and throws it one of the branding irons
attack please don't miss: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21YAAA ^_^
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
Which vial? The haunt siphon or holy water?
i could not remember the name yes the Haunt siphon
GM Engleaktig |
Before anyone can act, the branding irons fly at the party. Two of them miss, but two of them hit. There's an unmistakable sizzle that confirms contact as the bard and the cleric of Sarenrae are permanently marked! (Heh. Now you have prison tattoos.)
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, miss
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, miss
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 1 = 8, Who: 1d5 ⇒ 3, Gravleon
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5) + 1 = 7, Who: 1d5 ⇒ 1, Blackheath
Screaming in pain, Gravleon counters with a Haunt Siphon 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) = 8
The brands fall to the floor and are cool to the touch once more.
