Sorrina Westyr urgently projects her image to speak to every Pathfinder, and appears to be holding tightly to a steel ring near an alien device. “Everyone, brace yourselves. We have finished repairs of a strange craft on the bright side of the asteroid, and the engines will fire shortly, hopefully causing this rock to spin and even out the extreme temperatures. This may get a bit bumpy though in three…two…one... Hold on!”

A sudden jolt shakes the entire asteroid, sending anything unsecured reeling as the stars begin to spin overhead.

Table GMs, the Engines benefit is now in play. Vroooooom!

Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

After a bit of conferring in Aquan, Vesi is able to get a bit of information from Burble about posts and defenders of the frozen city. This manifests as a +2 to Initiative as long as you are in Water Aligned regions.

Now that the Asteroid is spinning, the rime and frost covered rocks are getting a little less icy, and the temperature itself is rising slightly.

Burble can show you an easier route to the outskirts of the frozen city. A gentle wind blows by, causing some movement that makes this long dead civilization look a little less barren and cold. Failing enchantments causes stone to crumble and rebuild from moment to moment. A thick sheen of ice and snow covers every surface. A few structures around a temple plaza bear signs of recent repairs and habitation, and the icy, shattered remains of fifteen-foot-tall, willowy humanoids lie scattered across the cobbles.

As Burble leads you through the streets, you notice a large shrine, with a gentle shimmering through the cracked open doors.

Burble, shrugging his water shoulders, points toward the doors, then points to a small column about 20 feet away from the entrance. Looking at Kivi, he continues to burble at Liora and Newt.

Aquan:
"Beats me! I'm not really looking to investigate old magic. I'll wait here by this pillar if you want to have a look!"

Inside the shrine is a set of cracked and crumbling stairs, leading up to a stone basin surrounded by blue glowing runes. A pale semi ephemeral woman, shrouded in blue mist hovers motionlessly above the pool, her toes barely touching the slick icy surface.

"Well if the elemental doesn't know, I guess we'll just ask her." Volyana rubs her jade wayfinder for luck and approaches the steps and presses her fist against her open palm with a slight nod. "Excuse me, we are travelers seeking knowledge of your world. Do you mind chatting a bit?"

She shakes her head, chuckling. "Come on, I may be curious but I'm not that curious. I promise I'll keep my eyes open for trouble," she whispers as she moves to follow Volyana.

Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

As Volyana approaches the woman, her pale face turns toward her, before distorting in a soundless scream. Her hazy and Incorporeal body seems to shimmer and twist, as if it is tearing itself apart! The runes glow with a faint white light, and the twisting strands of aether whip around her body in an attempt to rebuff the invaders.

You have some options in how to deal with this spirit. 1) Run away! 2) Attempt to Diffuse and sate the spiritual woman 3) Attempt to distract or damage the spirit. Each task has a number of different checks, which are as follows:

Trying to Diffuse or Sate the spirit, or find out exactly what is going on: Diplomacy, Disable Device, Knowledge(arcana), Knowledge(Religion), Linguistics or Spellcraft!
If you have a different way that you think you could either Calm or Find out exactly what is going on, feel free to go with it! Making one of these checks is a standard action, and you must be within 10 feet of the runic font to do so! Also, using the same tactic repeatedly will make it harder to get additional information!

Distracting the Spirit: While your Buddies are trying to fix what is going on, they are in danger from whatever that lady's Lashing Whips are doing! You can try to distract her with a Bluff, Intimidate, or CMB check. Alternatively, you can just try to hit her, to get her attention. Once again, if you think of something else creative, feel free to give it a shot!

Jyrrar eyes the swinging strands of multi-colored tendrils and slowly moves up closer to the action. Timing his swing precisely, he lashes out at one of the tentacles, trying to distract the spirit.

While her companions are keeping the strange, shimmering woman busy, Atronia approaches, dodging the tendrils as best she can. Meanwhile, she observes the woman, until she's near enough to study the runes carefully.

Vesi seems to get the spirits attention and soothe it a little bit, causing the woman to focusher attention on the glowing devilfish.
Jyrrar and Newt begin to distract and tangle the spirit's tentacles, redirecting her from Vesi, and refocusing it on themselves! Looks like talking her down might be a little more difficult next time!

Liora can't get a good read on the runes, with tentacles and spears and the like flying around!

Trixalana seems to be able to convince the ghostly woman that you mean no harm, and can get a bit of insight into what is going on.

Struggling to understand the spirit's source seems to frustrate it, as the runes glow brighter and he movements speed up a bit!

“We’ve discovered a path to the Vault Entrance!” Sorrina Westyr’s image appears drenched but defiant, in the midst of pouring heavy rain. Ignoring the water sleeting off her, the Master of Spells points with her wand as she illuminates the asteroid map behind her. “Reports from those traveling through the Ice Reservoir indicate that most of the enemies in that region have been mopped up, though a few scattered groups may still be dealing with ongoing fights.” She taps the map. “We’ve discovered an entrance to the Vault through this area. If you’re nearby, proceed here as fast as you can!”

Then a serious expression crosses her face. “Our efforts have not gone without notice. My divinations indicate that Kelizandri, the Brackish Emperor himself, is displeased and wreaking havoc. Beware of flash floods and rain! Take care, Pathfinders!”

Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

The sound of rain pounding against the shrine's exterior causes the Voice of Seven Songs to speak louder. "Who is that woman? and what does she know of Kelizandri? Although that would explain much of the elemental plight... Iovo is the planet that this shrine was once part of, but that was a long time ago. This fraction of Iovo is a prison for a powerful prisoner, of which the Elemental Lords wish to keep captive. I have foreseen a group such as yourselves coming to free this captive, and can give you a bit of insight into your further adventures into the depths."

Her eyes glow blue and gold for just a moment, before her voice echoes hauntingly throughout the shrine. "The trip to the vault itself is Perilous, but there are many opportunities for aid. I see a woman frozen in a massive block of ice, wrapped in chains that suspend her in an icy chamber. I see massive spinning boulders crashing and colliding with a boiling ball of Liquid metal. Inside that massive sphere is the prisoner that you seek. Make your way toward the center, through the City of Ice ahead." The last few words echo in the chamber, as the runes around the pool glow white hot, filling the room with a blinding light. After the light fades, and you can see again, the pool is empty, the woman gone.

The magic quickly fades, and the pounding rain begins rushing through a rapidly crumbling ceiling. The rushing water pushes toward the entrance of the temple, overtaking everyone and everything in the empty shrine.

Those pushed by the water are pummeled by fragments of the ruined shrine.

Trudging through the pouring rain, Grythyk shoves open the shrine doors to let a good deal of the water loose. "What is all this RAIN? Does Iomedae Weep at our misfortune?" Gamin chuckles, before adding "We did hear something about the Brackish Emperor. That would explain the Brackish Water, would it not?"

"I don't know what color has to do with Rain. We should keep moving. What did you all find in here? Anything helpful?"

Newt, used to worse weather than this growing up on his northern island, endures the sudden rush of water stoically. Once the deluge is finished, he slogs his way to the door just before their captain pulls it open.

Vesi, despite being native to the seas, is caught by the swirling waters and slammed against the wall of the shrine. Gripping the wall with her suckered tentacles, she is able to deftly dodge the debris that follows.

"I'm glad to see you learned your lessons about riptides well, son." She transmits to Newt while shaking off the pain of her own experience.


Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

The rushing water carries a small crate, floating lazily above the ground. Several bottles clink around as it gently bumps into Newt's knees.

Spellcraft DC 16 or Perception DC 20:
Four of the bottles in this crate are Potions of Endure Elements. Two more are Potions of Cure Light Wounds.

Spellcraft DC 19 or Perception DC 20:
The last remaining bottle is a Potion of Remove Disease.

The water continues to beat down upon you for a few minutes, the ground flooding and difficult to walk through. When the rain stops, the groundwater quickly recedes into Aucturn's Tear. Ahead, in the center of the Frozen city, a broken stone tower resonates with an unnerving note as wind forcefully billows out as if it were some manner of alien pipe organ. Ice creeps around the entrance, and the howls of hunting predators ring through the surrounding structures.
