GM Andrew |
Four of the potions are Cure Light Wounds, the last is Invisibility.
You can either interrogate these guys, leave them there, or turn them over to the authorities. There's also killing them but probably wouldn't be smart to do that in public.
After you decide what to do with them, I need a Diplomacy or Knowledge (Local) to find someone to talk to.
NEEDED: Diplomacy or Knowledge (Local) to find someone to talk to, and will take 1d6 ⇒ 1 hour to do so. You get +2 to the check because you have won over the crowd here.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli picks up his sword and sheathes it and also goes to retrieve his fried critter from the ground. Awww, someone stepped on it... Skredli eyes the other combatants angrily and pokes at the dagger wound on his arm. Ow...but not too deep though. She wasn't as unskilled with that blade as I hoped.
Are any of them awake? At the very least we should turn them
in to the guards since they were carrying Molthuni coin
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
We have some potions of cure light and one of invisibility...who gets the invisibility? The monkey?
Zuri hooks one of the cure light potions to his belt, and starts passing the others around.
What do we do with these? Zuri says eying the captured thugs.
Maybe they were the ones spreading lies about the pathfinders? 1
That is probably the case, judging by the coins they carry
We should make them sing before handing them over... 2
Yes we should Zuri smiles his special grin while eyeing them.
if any of them are awake, this can be an intimidate seeing how Zuri is having half of a conversation with himself out loud
intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
i can make the diplomacy now or wait...up to you guys
GM Andrew |
I'll assume someone has smelling salts.
Zuri wakes the thief up.
We won't tell you anything!
Then Zuri gets in their face and exudes his general creepiness to them.
Uhhh... we used to work for the church of Razmir, but were recently referred to a very tall woman with black and white hair. She was the one who hired us to frame you by planting these Molthuni coins on your person. We don't know her name or where she lives. We actually met her in this marketplace before. Don't even know her name! That's all I know, I swear! Please don't do weird things to me. He seems very frightened.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
See, that wasnt so hard was it?
Satisfied with the information gained from the thugs, Zuri starts seeking out information from the crowd in the area. He makes sure to hide his face before moving into the throng of people.
He works his way through much as he did at the docks, making friendly small talk and what not. He tries to spend only the minimum amount of time to remain polite before moving on once he realizes he has not found someone useful yet. He also tries to find out information related to the "very tall woman with black and white hair".
disguise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 to hide face
diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 2 = 21 searching for information in the market place
_Urien |
no issue with Skredli using a cure potion
When the guards arrive, Urien will attempt to help smooth things over and explain the attack in a manner least likely to either identify us as Pathfinders or land us in jail.
bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Urien will then shadow Zuri a bit, assisting him in finding additional information / someone to talk to in the marketplace.
diplomacy aid another: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
GM Andrew |
[When the Guard Comes]
Urien does some smooth talking to the guard, and with the crowd backing him up, they don't really question the crime and take away the thief and two accomplices.
[Asking Around the Market District]
You ask around for a bit, and eventually find a tall, obese man with a ratty looking red chin-beard. He seems friendly, and as you talk to him, he starts walking with you, and when he feels no one is watching, he says bluntly Are you looking for something?
I would suggest looking back about what Oraiah said about the Market District.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli downs the potion Zuri gave him
healing or killing the whole party? healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
That'll do, that'll do...
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Is he hiding something? 1
Tell the orc there he is hiding food 2
will post something tonight...if no one else does
Sister Morgan |
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Sister Morgan coyly eyes the man,"I'll tag along, but you best not offend a lady sworn to service of a higher power"
GM Andrew |
Ah, but those are the kind that need this stuff the most, eh laddies?
He dips into a back alley and motions you to follow. You see no one else in this alleyway, but there is a small table on the side. He then opens his trenchcoat to reveal several pockets inside. He starts taking out several bags of what appear to be all kinds of drugs and powders. Pesh, poisons, you name it. Also, not on the chronicles sheet LOL. Lots of these substances are illegal in town, which is a wonder how he got so many.
Anything I can interest you in? he states to everyone.
Anything you wish to question him about?
_Urien |
Urien perks up a bit, seeing the bounty of mind-numbing essentials laid out before them.
bluff on made-up drug info: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
My dear sir, you appear to be a paragon of alchemical industry indeed! I don't believe any of the alienists whom I've driven mad over the years had even half the supply you're showing. Over my many experiments, though, there has been but one that I continue to crave to this day... do you have any of ... the Kyton Strumpet's Tears? ... it's a rare and often costly bit of liquid, but I seem to have somehow also managed to get some rather... impressive folk equally interested and the last place I heard it might be available was in this area.
diplomacy to get information about local network: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
If not, perhaps you can do a fellow purveyor of alchemical sins a bit of a favor and direct me to someone who may be able to acquire such things?
The diceroller hate has abated, apparently Urien is no longer standing next to Skredli. =)
GM Andrew |
By asking where to be directed to acquire such things, he assumes the worst, and starts sweating profusely and taking out a handkerchief to wipe his brow.
I knew this was going to come back to bite me! You’re here to break my legs or something, right? Well you don’t have to — I’ll tell you everything! Just don’t hurt me! I used to buy from Guaril Karela; now I buy from whoever is stealing from Karela. Hey, what’s it matter to me? When I meet them, it’s always on the north end of town, so I figure they must have a hideout up north somewhere. Please, that’s all I know!
I don't have any Kyton Strumpet's Tears. Never heard of it, but I'd love to get my hands on some... especially if that's what's driving away people to competitors!
He takes out a notepad and writes down Kyton Strumpet's Tears - Look into this.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
hey i made it
SKDjfnwnww alko
Yes, you're right...he is lying to us Says Zuri, once again speaking out loud only half the conversation with himself.
I hate it when they lie 1
So do I, but what to do?
Probably don't need to do much guys...whoever is driving the meat bag forgot to use their inside voice. Just show him our face and point to the orc... 2
Good idea Says Zuri, pulling his hood back to show is scarred face and black void eyes. Skredli are you still hungry? I believe our friend is hiding fried critters on his person....or maybe it was parts that would be good fried...either way, lets find out
intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 to get him to tell the full truth, too bad the dice luck left me. maybe someone else can help save my fumble
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli doesn't know he's lying per se, but Zuri isn't being subtle. So he leans in to the fella and asks...
Are you SURE about what you're telling us?
intimidation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
woot!
GM Andrew |
He looks quite shaken up by the comment. Okay, okay, they come from the river, not from town! They sell for half what I used to pay Karela! I hope you never find them!
You have learned what you can from him.
As you leave, he starts muttering to himself. Hrm, Kyton Strumpet's Tears, Hrm....
-------------------------------------------------------------
[Leaving the Market District] - 12:00 PM Noon, Day 1
As you head out of the Market District, a small bird flies up to the party with a note it its beak. It perches at the party's feet, sets the note on the ground, and then poofs into an explosion of feathers.
There is a note on the ground that reads as per this link.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Whoa...Never had exploded bird before. Skredli ignores the note he can't read and pokes around the feathers with a stick, seeing if there is anything he can cook later...
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
i think i can try to the skill, i think the trained only is if i want to make a forgery
linguistics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
holy crap...i know everything. GM, please confirm that i can make the check
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
Huh... says Zuri while reading the note.
Nice of the smugglers to tell us where and when to be. I would hate to be late for an ambush Zuri passes the note around. I think this is a fake
_Urien |
Urien shakes his head at the exploded bird.
That's likely very similar to what may happen to our oh-so-helpful informant if he finds a kyton, calls her a strumpet, and seeks her tears. Knowing what he is selling, however, makes me strangely unsympathetic.
untrained linguistics with unfamiliar handwriting penalty referenced above applied: 1d20 + 0 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 0 - 2 = 12
After looking over the document passed over by Zuri, Urien continues.
Really? Looks legit to me, but rarely hurts to anticipate an ambush I guess.
Urien then passes the note along to the next interested party member (if any).
So do we await the ambush / meeting or do we see what we can find out in the area that we are relatively certain that cretin's suppliers are operating out of?
Skredli Oxbreaker |
So we get to bust some heads, great. I love a good ambush. Skredli smiles and finishes poking around the feathers. Awwww, nothin left. Stupid exploding birds.
Skredli stands and stretches, then tilts his head to the side...cracking his neck. I had my nap and I'd hate to be late for the ambush. I guess we should dress well and be early...earlier than them? He seems more focused and business-like now that the possibility of additional violence is present.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
Most likely it is an ambush...unless they are just trying to make us waste our time. Should report to the lodge so they know whats going on?
Looking confused, Zuri asks Did we go to that inn yet? Also, where is the monkey?
Sister Morgan |
The longer we wait on interfering, the less chance our little scuffle goes unnoticed. I say we take the fight to these thieves before a good night's rest.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Fend steps out of hiding "Who are you calling a monkey? We could check out the inn before we go get ambushed. and then he hides again.
[dice=stealth]1d20+14
so you are moving half speed everywhere? lol
GM Andrew |
[The Gar's Last Meal] - 12:00 PM, Day 1
Seems to be a consensus to go to the Inn.
The Gar’s Last Meal is a reasonably priced and relatively comfortable inn, whose only downside is that it smells of fish. The taproom at the Gar’s Last Meal is a fairly popular local hangout, and people are everyone in this rather large establishment.
NEEDED: Diplomacy or Knowledge (Local) to find a good source of information. Will take 1d3 ⇒ 3 hours.
GM Andrew |
The party asks around for a while, and eventually finds a group of two sisters at the inn.
One of them says Heya, you folk look friendly enough. Come sit with us! I'm Lily, and this is my sister Lilah. We are the Dueling Lutes! Both of them take out a lute from their backpack and start practicing.
Lilah says We were about to take the stage later tonight at this inn, but we love chit-chatting beforehand. What's up with you guys?
Gonna let this rest for the weekend, as I know people are out... plus I will be pretty busy as well.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli sits down at the table and offers the ladies some of his bread
Name is Skredli. Know any songs from Lastwall?
Sister Morgan |
"Dueling Lutes! How exciting!", Sister Morgan remarks. "Any chance you know "The Packages" by Kauri Guarila?"
Attempting to pass a secret message asking them for any information
bluff vs DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
GM Andrew |
Lily looks at Lilah for a second.
Lily says, "The Pathfinder packages? I heard the thefts were fake. One of those Pathfinders was in here a few weeks back asking around about the Shining Crusade, wanting to know if anyone had a picture or a drawing of what the soldiers back then looked like. I asked her about the thefts, and she said it was all a lie to let the smugglers drive up the prices."
Lilah adds, "Yeah, I remember that elf. She gave me the willies, her and her boyfriend both. Glad I haven’t seen them around town lately."
Lily speaks, "They had a strong, herbal scent about them; not really the good kind either."
They don't really have more information, although they are willing to chat more.
Can ask around town next or wait at the ambush meeting spot. It's now 3 PM and they told you to come at 11 PM.
If you wish to ask around town, would take 1d4 ⇒ 4 hours and would need a Diplomancy or Knowledge (Local). Aid another encouraged as it is a variable DC based on how high you get. (Finally, a typical Gather Information check :p)

[dice=bluff vs DC 15]1d20+3
That sounds like a terrible song, why would you request that?
_Urien |
yeah, was out of town all weekend, sorry about that
Urien smiles winningly at the lutists and draws his own instrument from its case on his back, a masterwork fiddle.
Lutes? How charming! My preference is Delilah here, she sings as no other I've ever found when properly stroked. Perhaps we can play together! Skredli here seems adverse to songs involving words...
Urien plucks out a quick Pizzicato version of the chorus of a Taldan song involving a noble girl outsmarting an Abadaran priest.
perform: string with masterwork tool: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
... so perhaps an instrumental score? There is an interesting Taldan piece that requires three performers I've not had a chance to practice in some time...
An unpleasant herbal scent? That doesn't sound like pathfinders - they generally smell of old books, spell components and violence. In other words, ready wit and excitement.
diplomacy with charming applied: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25 - to attempt to change general opinion of the Pathfinders and start questions about the motivations of those openly proclaiming themselves to be Pathfinders in an inept or damaging manner.
Sister Morgan |
"Silver Crusade, eh? I speak with their voice and heard no such nonsense. There must be more to it, let's ask the barkeep, and others"
Diplomacy to Aid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
