Feel free to "dot" in here with the character you wish to play (basically, making a post that marks this thread in your campaigns) (Wouldn't recommend posting in here until your character is decided, because you'll want to use that PFS alias).
As well, you can also post character introductions and roleplay if you wish before I post the introduction box text.
- Use normal text to describe actions or descriptions in-games.
- Use "b" (Bold) text for character dialog (your character speaking).
- Use "i" (Italic) text for character internal dialog (your character's thoughts).
- Use both "b" and "i" for dialog involving Message or Telepathic Bond.
- Use the "ooc" tag for Out Of Character talk.
- Use "dice" when rolling dice. Example syntax: (Replace <> with brackets) <dice=Attack Roll on Yellow (Bless, Inspire Courage)>1d20+5+1+1</dice>
<redacted>? Gonna take a stab at a Knowledge check. It's the only knowledge I have so might as well try it.

Move Action
Theodore pulls out his wand of Bless.
Standard Action
He waves around his wand of Bless, activating it. Including our party and <redacted> in this.
BLESS IS UP!
FYI, Theodore has his buckler and wand out. He currently does not threaten for a flank.
Sister Morgan |
Sister Morgan, a young human peri-kin Scion of Humanity in a nun's outfit glances nervously about the room. Those other adventures seemed like child's play, I hope this isn't any worse
Hello? If anyone is there I request they identify themselves. It is rude to not..oh *Blush* I am Sister Morgan, loyal follower of Milani.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
The mad prophet nervously paces a corner of the meeting room. His movements are jerky and uncertain, possibly the result of the empty wineskin in his hand that drips ale. He seems oblivious to the others gathering, focusing intently on the discussion within the darkness of his hood.
Why are we here? Sure you two like these outings, but you know we don’t enjoy them? he mutters, seemingly to no one. However, something in a deeper tone answers, all clicks and guttural alko . Others, what others?
With that he freezes in place and the shaking stops. He straightens his shoulders and turns to face the group as ash colored hands pull back the hood from his face.
We are Zuri he says to the gathered adventures, no trace of fear or nervousness in his voice. It was the calm, sober voice of authority, of a man who speaks the will of the gods. But what gods might those be? His once beautiful, highborn face was now a horrific visage. Where once there were eyes, there was now only blackened pits surrounded by claw marks.
An unearthly sound fills the air, like the chirping and buzzing of a thousand unholy insects. DC 14 ghost sounds of alko
Zuri smiles and says Ah! You can hear it too? Beautiful isn’t it? And with that his posture changes, the shaking and twitchiness returning as suddenly as it left. He draws the hood of his cloak up high and drunkenly resumes his pacing.
Li Feng Hu |
Keeping himself behind or under furniture, or cloth coverings, Feng crept quietly into the room. The lightly armored wayang moved with grace but the utmost care - only when there was nothing more to hide behind did he become visible to those in the room - he was armed with spiked guantlet, two short swords, and a hand crossbow - and wore a holy symbol of Irori around his neck.

Sister Morgan |
Ah, what a pleasure to meet you. Hesitating for a second, she realized potential disrespect and her eyes grow. All of you, I mean. You all want to be Zuri, together?...because that makes you happy! She fidgets while biting her lip before deciding on smiling before quickly looking away.

GM Andrew |
Gonna go ahead and post the intro stuff. There's a fair amount of talking in the first parts so we can get the ball rolling here.
Handouts and maps will be right below my name. Right now, the only handout is a picture of the people you are meeting. :)
Entering Meeting Room #8 is Ambrus Valsin and a very familiar Varisian man. Ambrus waves a sign of greeting to everyone as he heads to the far side of the conference table. The Varisian man quickly sits in the seat nearest the exit.
"Pathfinders, I’m sure you know our associate, Guaril Karela, if not personally then by reputation" says Ambrus Valsin while gesturing to the Varisian man seated across from him. “We’ve had reports from a confidential informant in the Aspis Consortium that trouble is brewing in Tamran. Probably not coincidentally, several of Karela’s shipments bound for Tamran have gone missing.”
Guaril adds, “You see, the Molthuni navy maintains a rather tyrannical blockade around the city—a blockade past which my associates and I have helped Ambrus move items numerous items. It’s not so difficult; the Molthuni are not the brightest stars in the sky. Or at least it wasn’t difficult until recently. An unknown party has intercepted my last dozen shipments, and I doubt Molthune is responsible. When I lose shipments—”
“—Our lodge in Tamran loses much needed supplies,” finishes Ambrus. “Not to mention the fact that Guaril provides many important goods to the people of Tamran, such as food and medicine. Your mission is to accompany Guaril to Tamran and investigate the disappearances and thefts. Hopefully Oraiah Tolal, our venture-captain in Tamran, will have more leads."
“You depart with Karela in two hours. If you have any questions, or any supplies to purchase, I advise you do so now.”
You can roll a Knowledge (History) check in a post, and if you get the DC, you can open the appropriate spoilers below. (remember Knowledge is trained only, but a 10 is still possible even if untrained)
Feel free to ask them questions you have, or make purchases.
Sister Morgan |
With a slight smirk, Guaril, please tell me that food and medicine is being given freely to the common folk in need. The crusade understands the importance of your methods and will aid as necessary to assure the common folk are taken care of. It would be like those meddlesome snakes to hurt our humanitarian efforts!
Ambrus, I know of Tamran some but nothing of Oraiah, can you shed some light on her?
Molthuni and and Tamran, Molthuni and and Tamran...The sisters always mocked me for reading history instead of their religious texts, but the Everbloom speaks that those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it!
History+Guidance: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 = 25
GM Andrew |
Gauril responds to Sister Morgan, his eyes dotting back and forth as he responds, You will have to ask Oraiah what she does with the...supplies. I just provide them.
Ambrus also responds bluntly, I don't keep in close contact with her. She is an older halfling who worships Alseta, I believe.
Gauril adds, I have arranged for a contact to lead us to the Pathfinder lodge in town once we arrive. Hopefully we will arrive on time...so things will work out.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
history untrained: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
And so it begins Zuri whispers to himselves. Amused by his own wit, a fit of giggles overtakes him.
Can't you see? he asks between breaths.
If only they could see what we see-1
They will, they always do -2
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli strolls in late as usual, his boots scuffing loudly to make sure no one is unaware of his arrival. Mistress Dralneen said you needed some muscle for some work Captain Valsin...Skredli Oxbreaker...where do you need me? His eyes scan the room and the other occupants. Zarta said this crew would make me feel inconspicuous, and she was right - where do they find these people? He stands a full six-foot-eight, dressed in worn traveler's clothes and an armored coat. A ridiculously large sword is strapped across his back.
Other than his worn clothing and gear, he is well-groomed right down to the shaved sides of his hair and the braid that runs down his back.
GM Andrew |
Ah, that's the type of adventurer I'm more used to seeing...no offense to the rest of you. Ambrus says, I'll brief you if you just open your mind for a second. It won't hurt. You'll just feel a rush of information.
Ambrus casts Mindlink and on Skredli to convey the briefing information.
Glad that spell got discovered. That makes briefing those who are late so much easier.
_Urien |
Sitting up from a nearby couch with a slightly alarmed look, Urien hastily utters an apology with a charming smile and a slight drawl.
My apologies for a late introduction, I fear I was catching up on a bit of sleep - I was tasked with a critical task late last night a wine run by our esteemed Drengle Dreng that had me running hither and thither through out Absalom until it was almost light this mornin'. I did hear your brief, masters Guaril and Valsin, so there is no need for magics to catch me up on the conversation.
Knowledge: History: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
GM Andrew |
Gauril smiles. Yes, Dreng loves his... he trails off without finishing the sentence. It is clear he knows more than he is letting on.
Ambrus, clearly confused at what Gauril said, reponds Ah yes, Dreng. Well, at least you have a long journey ahead of you so you can catch up on your rest.
If any of you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
Will probably move on tomorrow as there's more briefing to be had later.
Li Feng Hu |
The small ugly gnomelike creature wayang for those that make the knowledge local check, says, "Accompany Guaril? Escort Guaril? Protect Guaril? Of these which is our task, of greatest importance? And we have which limitations to our actions as protect the Society's interests we will."
He pauses, bows his head slightly to the gathered, and bows fully to Ambrus and not at all to Guaril, "I am known as Li Feng Hu - most of you may call me Feng.
GM Andrew |
Guaril looks at the wayang with a raised eyebrow. Actually, I am escorting you into town rather than the other way around, and you'll be the ones investigating...not me. There is a Molthuni blockade to get by after all.
Hmm, quick history lesson: Molthune was both part of the Chelish empire that broke into pieces following the death of Aroden. The country’s militant leaders continued to exploit the forests to the north, driving the rural population to secede and form their own nation called Nirmathas. Molthune has maintained an ongoing campaign ever since to recapture the rebel-held lands, though most of the Inner Sea region’s leaders now recognize Nirmathas’s legitimacy—or at least do not denounce their efforts. The blockade is one of Molthune’s ongoing ways of harassing its northern rival.
Ambrus answers the second part. Don't get caught or damage our reputation. You know...the normal stuff.
GM Andrew |
Looks like everyone has at least responded, so I'm going to move on for now.
Ambrus says Good luck, Pathfinders! and exits the meeting room. Gauril follows in a similar fashion, being sure to mention At the docks in 2 hours.
After preparations have been made, you all meet on Guaril Karela at the docks where he has procured a ship for your passage to Tamran. After a little chit-chat, you head off.
The journey takes several days, but is otherwise uneventful. The sailors are friendly and talk to each of you. They said they have been to Tamran several times before, but have recently had to rely on Guaril for guidance on how to bypass the Multhuni blockade. If you look around the ship, you find many boxes of goods, labeled as food, medicine, alchemical crafting materials, and magical crafting materials.
When you get close to Tamran, Guaril orders the crew to halt outside of the blockade and wait for the cover of night to bypass it. Guaril displays that he obviously has knowledge on how to avoid the patrols, because you don't meet any on the way into Tamran.
You reach the docks of Tamran safely in the early hours of the morning. After the ship is tethered, the crew goes into action getting all the cargo onto the deck of the ship. As they are doing so, a tall and slender human man carrying a longbow and a longsword and wearing a nice looking breastplate approaches you and surreptitiously flashes a wayfinder. I will be your escort to the Ashfall Lodge. My name is Reginar Lacklan, and I work under Oraiah Tolal.
When Reginar asks Gauril to join him, Gauril declines, saying that he has other business to attend to. I will reunite with you all in three days at the Ashfall Lodge to see what you've learned says Gauril.
Gauril whispers to each of you, letting Reginar join in the conversation, You are conducting the investigation, but I am going to pull sources to see who is doing this to me. I hope I can find out more from my contacts. It's also probably best that I'm not traveling with you. I'm known in this city and would skew your ability to talk to people around town. Go with Reginar to get more instruction from Oraiah.
Splitting up the "box text" so people have a chance to respond to it.
_Urien |
Urien look at Guaril. While your rates were steep, I and mine greatly appreciated the assistance in bypassing some unpleasantness with that thing in that place complicated by that woman that time last year. I am happy to assist with this endeavor, your ... competencies are of great interest to me and I look forward to learning a great deal.
He checks that his belongings have been offloaded, then turns to Reginar. Ser Locklan, when my companions are ready, please lead on to Ashfall Lodge.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
(We need to slow down a hair, we went from me walking into the room to the docks without even a party conversation or attempt at introductions. How about we get an acknowledgement before we move on major points?)
GM Andrew |
This is a learning experience for me as well, but I will say that common practice is 1/day to at least check the progress (more relaxed on weekends). That being said, I have no problem slowing down some of that's what the group wants. For now, I will take this as a sign that is the case. However, I don't think backtracking at this point is the way to go.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Skredli eyes Locklan suspiciously, and then gestures at the wayfinder. What's the social climate like here? How much trouble are we expecting? Either we can operate in the open, or you like trouble? I see we can walk around armed... He goes and helps the crew unload until it is time to go. Gotta do something to keep my strength up with all the lounging we did on the boat...
Skredli Oxbreaker |

So are you a monkey of some kind? I think I saw someone like you go through Freedomtown once, well, a few of your kind'in a cart, they were headed to Trunau. Merchants of some sort...
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
Before Zuri lay his few possession. He checks the dagger's edge before sheathing it on his belt. Next he turns his attention to the four scroll cases arrayed on his bunk.
Buffs go on my right hip he mutters to himself as he picks up two cases.
Yes, on my right agrees Zuri to himself.
...and others to the left Zuri finishes, his attention switching to the voices above deck. Knowing their task, his hands continue tying the first cases to the left side of their master’s belt…that is to say Zuri’s right, which is of course Zuri’s left…before picking up the last two scrolls.
After the noise from above calms, Zuri looks around for his spear before walking into the light of day. He draws his hood high before heading down to meet his fellow pathfinders.
Where do we begin?
GM Andrew |
What's the social climate like here? How much trouble are we expecting? Either we can operate in the open, or you like trouble? I see we can walk around armed...
Reginar replies, There's nothing wrong with walking around with weapons displayed. However, I would definitely hide the fact that you are a Pathfinder around here. Tensions are tight between us and the Nirmathians. But as long as you don't reveal that, should be O.K. just walking around town.
Sister Morgan |
Reginar, this is my first trip to Tamran so I apologize for the question. Are there any lingering effects of the Whispering Tyrant's influence? an overabundance of haunted tombs or the like? What about general cult like activity? With a slight hesitation, What is the post-Tyrant pantheon like here? Milani is revered, right?
Turning to the party, Also, I have brewed a wonderful pot of rose-tea if there are any takers. Milani recommends all friends and neighbors commune daily and I would like to consider all of you my...neighbors at least and friends by the end of this ordeal.
Skredli Oxbreaker |
Raising an eyebrow at Sister Morgan You mean like the flower? You made tea from a flower? He sets a heavy crate down and wipes the sweat from his brow and turns to Reginar again Noted, but with this group, a low profile may be out of the question. Well, so much for this being a kobold clear-out.
_Urien |
Nodding slightly, Urien gestures down towards the town.
Tea sounds lovely, but perhaps we should make our way off of the docks first? The scent of stale stevedore sweat is likely to interfere with the natural palliative nuances within your tea.
GM Andrew |

Reginar throws his hands in front of him like he's blocking a soccer ball from hitting his face. Whoa! Whoa! Hold up there missy! I can answer some basic questions here, but I think questions like that are better suited for when we get back to the Ashfall Lodge.
Sister Morgan |
Sister Morgan attempts to hide her impatience behind a wall of piety take 10 for a 13. Perhaps Urien is correct. Tea for the road will help us stay cool. Let us meet the leader of the Ashfall Lodge.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
Tea? asks Zuri, his voice a little shaky Does anyone have anything stronger...to help with the noise? This same old argument is giving me a headache. Both of them are wrong and we all know it. But do they listen to me? No. It's just the man, the number of wives and sons never ever into it.... They aren't traveling too
Skredli Oxbreaker |
The Fop is right, we should get to our destination. Weak tea can come later Skredli picks up his gear and puts on his pack. I wonder if there are any other Lodges or how talking about Pathfinder stuff isn't drawing attention to ourselves as Pathfinder...if I keep talking to myself in my head so I wind up like...him? Eyes Zuri semi-nervously and straps on his two-hander. Gorum help us...sheesh
Perception to notice if anyone is paying attention the convo : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
GM Andrew |
There seems to be a consensus to move on.
Reginar leads you to the Ashfall Lodge.
Like much of the city, Ashfall Lodge rises above the marshy ground; however, whereas most other buildings stand atop piers and pilings, the Pathfinder lodge straddles three broad cypress trees. Rope bridges and wooden slat ladders wind across its outer branches, leading to a handful of tiny cabins for storage and visiting agents. Two bell pulls hang from the southern tree—one weighted by a medallion depicting the Glyph of the Open Road and the other weighted by a bronze symbol of two faces in profile.
Reginar takes hold of the Open Road rope and gives it a sharp pull, sounding a high-pitched bell in the lodge above. From above, a gray-haired halfling woman examines the visitors, smiles, and drops a rope ladder. She nimbly clambers down and gestures grandly to the elevated structure. Welcome, Pathfinders. May Ashfall Lodge be your home away from home and your welcome to a new land. If you’ll accompany me, I can answer any questions you might have. My name is Oraiah Tolal, venture-captain of the lodge here.
Oraiah is a halfling and is wearing nice breastplate and a dagger by her side. You also see a holy symbol of some sort of a door hanging by her side as well.
As you talk with her, she leads you to a small meeting room inside the lodge to discuss further. Reginar accompanies you to this meeting room.
I have attempted to investigate these thefts of Gauril's myself, but unfortunately as Reginar might have told you, there have been rumors circling around Tamran slandering the Pathfinder Society's name. Specifically, they have been targeting Reginar and myself, claiming us to be Molthuni sympathizers. As you know, around here that is one of the worst offenses, but it hasn't gotten dire enough that the city has taken action. I suspect this rumor is linked with the disappearance of shipments but haven't been able to find out information about this.
You being here is an opportunity to learn more, since you are new to the city and hence relatively unknown.
_Urien |
knowledge: religion: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Oblivious to the potential sacrilege (or irony), Urien ties up his mule below the hanging symbol on the southern tree. Good girl, your Infernal Muletrix. He withdraws a carrot from the pack and feeds it to her. Now stay, here Cabbage-gail, I don't need to break in Cabbage-gail the X just yet.
knowledge: local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Molthune sympathizers? How very odd given that the society was actually made illegal in Molthune after we opened this lodge.
He looks around at his companions. To be fair, we are a VERY diverse society and Molthune's recent encouragement of troops comprised even of lycanthropes and centaurs might give some surface semblance of similarities between us, but Governor Teldas is far from a fan of the Society.

Zuri stands to one side, watching and listening. Since leaving the boat, he has tried to keep his face hidden within the shadows of his hood.
His mannerisms are calm and assured, no longer twitchy or nervous. Perhaps it was just the large amount of wine or ale in his system...

Skredli laughs out loud deeply. By Gorum that sounds like a good and worthy fight. Centaurs AND lycan..lycan..were-people on the battlefield?! That sounds like a great day, but not on this day, we have other work to do. He pauses and thinks for a moment. Maybe we should do some damage to the liars while we are here?

Oraiah thinks for a bit, then responds, Well, if it's the Aspis like Ambrus and Gauril seem to think, they certainly have the resources to pull off such a rumor campaign against us. I wouldn't mind slandering against them personally, but don't really see how it adds to the mission at hand. Right now, I think you need to prioritize figuring out what's happening with the thefts.
What sort of folk do you find around here? What sorts of things interest them, so we might find something in common," Feng asks.
Well, for one, it's best not to mention you are Pathfinder when walking around for obvious reasons. However, you probably can find some comradery around here by sympathizing with the locals about hating the Molthuni.
There's a few different places around here you could look for information.
1. You could check the Docks. Karela’s shipments across the lake haven’t been getting through, which means the bandits must have a ship. If they have a ship, they’ve probably visited Tamran’s docks.
2. Gar's Last Meal many consider the only inn in town worth staying at—a harsh verdict but a great place to dig up rumors.
3. The Forest Bounty, that’s the town’s most popular feast hall. These days it’s seen a lot of traffic from members of the city’s various militias. You probably won’t get a very friendly reception, what with the rumors around town, but talking to the militia patrols is your best bet at learning what’s going on outside the city.
4. You could also check out the Market District. We haven’t been getting our supplies, but several of the more...illicit...items Karela used to bring into the city are still appearing in the market. That suggests someone in town is fencing goods for the thieves.
5. Finally, you could just try asking around the town.
Oraiah smiles. And of course, I'd like to remind you that you are all welcome to stay here. Reginar and I will get your rooms set up while you are out on the town.
As well, I am a cleric of Alseta of some skill and have a shrine here dedicated to her. Let me know if you need any divine aid. If you come back needing those services, all you need to do is pull the rope with the two faces.
Oraiah can provide the party with spellcasting services for free for the duration of their stay.
She cast these spells in any combination, but no more than a total of six levels of spells per day. (IE, two level 3's, or a level 3, level 2, and level 1, etc.) (Caster Level 6)
3rd - cure serious wounds, magic vestment, remove blindness/deafness, remove curse, remove disease
2nd - cure moderate wounds
1st - cure light wounds
Any more questions?
Sister Morgan |
Thank you, Oraiah for your hospitality during this trying ordeal. We will do our best to expediently reveal these hooligans and overthrow their reign of deceit and deception. Given that this is a place of civilian uprising, I imagine Milani is revered and I should have no problem openly walking around, so long as I don't discuss the Silver Crusade, no?

Hooligans? C'mon, even Janira cuts loose with harsher words than that, and she's the patron diety of "bubbly and annoying." Good with a spell and a song though, that one. Shame we had to drag her back from that minotaur like that. Gave him good for that one. I hope the Society paid to bring her back after that fiasco...training mission my arse.
_Urien |
Turning to the group, Urien begins thoughtfully The Forest Bounty sounds like an excellent place to pick up information from loose... Urien pauses, looking at Sister Morgan...lips. Festhalls abound with loose... lips. The bounty of Cayden Cailean, and such, I'm certain - "truth from the bottom of tankard or somesuch proverb".
Looking back to Oriah, he continuesYou are a credit to your diety. Would it be any trouble for me to leave Cabbage-gail here as well?he asks, waving hand in the general direction of the mule.
GM Andrew |
Given that this is a place of civilian uprising, I imagine Milani is revered and I should have no problem openly walking around, so long as I don't discuss the Silver Crusade, no?
Oraiah replies Showing you follow Milani shouldn't give you any sour looks around here as far as I know.
Looking back to Oriah, he continues You are a credit to your diety. Would it be any trouble for me to leave Cabbage-gail here as well?he asks, waving hand in the general direction of the mule.
Reginar replies Your mule can stay. Will have to check if we have any feed, but if not, I can go to the market district for some.
Zuri “The Mad Prophet” |
work is crappy right now. I might not post every night, but I am still following along. I will definitely post if Zuri wants to do something or has an opinion.
What time of day is it?
Perhaps we should rent rooms at the inn. Maybe visit the market if there is time... Then see what scurries out into the comfort of the night?
Sister Morgan |
smiling wickedly at Urien she responds The devout understand the lure of Calistria and also that in today's sexist society sometimes women have to use all wiles to advance in the world. Milani is not so pious that she doesn't appreciate a women's plight. Lets head to the Festhalls and see what... and with effort to imitate Urien's emphasis on 'lips' (disguise gender -2: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 2 = 13) ...commerce... grinning at her attempt before returning in her normal, softer tone, that we can enter into that supports the downtrodden while advancing our causes
GM Andrew |
It is currently early in the morning, about 8:00 AM, if that influences where you want to go. Oraiah will tell you that The Forest Bounty is indeed open for breakfast, and really is packed at all times of the day (Open 7:00 AM to midnight). Travel time between locations is hand-waved in this scenario. (Yes, there are mechanics for taking time to gather information or find informants, typically done in hours. It varies based on location.)
