Goupil |
I think too much sometimes.
Goupil imitates the demons.
When they move, they are like that.
Inspire courage.
GM Crucible |
Your realization that these creatures are illusory shadow made solid aids in combatting them.
They will do less damage to you, and their spells are less effective against you.

Ackuda calls fortune down on Cirri, and Goupil inspires courage.
Inkita's spell misses badly as she mistimes her throw.
Cirri charges her quarterstaff, and swings, her actions lucky and inspired by the help from her party, but the mist forms stay out of the way.
You still have the spell charged, however.

Bastion cleaves through one of the creatures, his well-made but non-magical blade seeping hard enough to drive the gaseous creature apart completely.

GM Red |
I'm dotting to get this table in my Campaigns. I'll have updates soon.
GM Red |
Okay guys, here we go. Please let me know if I forget anything. I have read the entire Gameplay thread, but a game of your own is a lot easier to know than a game that someone else has already run most of.
Staggered rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The gaseous creature freezes in place as Cirri extends her frozen palm at it. Its long tentacles go limp and cold, immediately releasing her as they turn to ice.

Echo of Exploration, Round 3?
Ackuda, Bastion, Cirri, Goupil, Inkita are up

I have forgotten where we left off so apologies if I mix this up
Inkita aids the next attack against the creature with her spear...
Aid Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Ackuda |
With a howl, a wolf appears behind the misty creature, and lunges at it, its eyes glowing.
Ackuda grins and points at the demon closing his right eye and opening his left, then cackles again.
Summon Monster 2 completes, Use Evil Eye to reduce AC on the creature for 9 rounds, DC 18 Will reduces that to 1 round, then Cackle to extend the Fortune on Cirri and the Evil Eye on the monster by 1 round.

"Ouch!" Cirri falls through the mist, and corrects her posture, readying her longsword. With last reserve of arcane energy she magically empowers her longsword to cut through its defenses.

GM Red |
Looking back a few pages, it seems Crucible used another table's initiative rolls accidentally, so I don't have a good indication of what everyone's initiative was. I will just use the order in which he had originally listed your names to resolve your actions.
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The misty form becomes a little more opaque as Ackuda glares at it horrifically, but even with that, the newly summoned wolf just misses it.
Cirri mightily cleaves the mist, cutting off several of its frozen tentacles and crumbling them into bits.
It still lives. Barely. Bastion and Goupil are up.
GM Red |
Bastion's blow proves fatal, and the creature is cleaved into two, littering the ground in shards of ice and a gaseous mist that slowly fades back into the vents.
Combat is over
When the demise of the two gaseous creatures, a hidden panel in the altar falls open. Inside is the icon that Wulessa spoke of, but rather than gold, the version you see is made of glass.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Focusing on the inaccuracy, you're able to will your mind forward into the next area.
Wulessa's memories fade into a different reality as the stone walls again become glass. The room's dimensions remain the same, but the altar, catwalks, and vents all vanish. The statue remains, but its form distorts into that of a featureless humanoid, all signs of either demonic or Wulessa's likeness melting away. Beneath the statue, a glass portcullis blocks off another passageway. Opposite the passage and statue the wall once again crumbles away into a fathomless void.
The walls around you light up. One of the panels displays an image of Wulessa's face being drawn onto a scroll, rolled up and placed inside the Monadistic Archive chest.
It then flickers to a montage of images of, all including Wulessa at different points in her life alongside piles of coins, jewels, and other valuables.
Finally, an image of a nest of rodents rummaging in the walls of a well-ordered house appears.
Suddenly, cracks form on the statue ahead and you swear you can see it begin to move ever so slightly.
Preps? Maps to follow.
Cirri Merryweather |
Cirri dusts off her armor and sheathes her longsword. "Thanks for the help, guys. " Cirri grabs her quarterstaff and checks for any long term damage. Noting none, she watches the terrain warp around her.
She pulls out her wand of shield and renews it, forming a wave of energy in front of her.
"Ugh. Now what?"
Cirri Merryweather |
"Yeah...the Venture-Captain's entire life is getting written up and wrapped away. We gotta help the captain!"
GM Red |
The map's updated. Where there was once open air, there is now floor as you've moved to another level. Behind you is the void.
An enormous construct suddenly steps out from where the lifeless statue was. The shadowy glass figure has a human's shape, save that one arm ends in a jagged hammer and another in a spike of glass.

"It's a...um...thing...construct?" Cirri ponders, then hefts her quarterstaff. "I guess we gotta smash it."
GM Red |
Apologies. I've now copied it from Crucible's tagline to my own. Lore will be up shortly.
GM Red |
Goupil recognizes the construct as a glass golem, although it doesn't appear to be any more real than the mist demons you encountered earlier.
Construct traits, DR 5/adamantine, immune to magic (spells or SLAs that allow spell resistance), has a bleed attack
GM Red |
Goupil, you're up. Cirri and Inkita may also post their actions.
Cirri Merryweather |
"Man, that's thing is big. Well, I can do big, too!" Cirri reads a page in her spellbook, then begins casting with a combination of dance and martial precision.
Casting Enlarge Person. It takes an entire round and will finish right before Cirri's next turn.

The golem brings both its fist and its glass spike down towards Bastion's head, but Bastion is far too heavily defended to be impacted at all and each slam glances off his armor.
Jesus that AC 29.

Cirri Merryweather |
Question: How many legs does the golem have? I like to trip, so if it's more than 2 I'll go back to bashing the thing.
GM Red |
It appears to have only two, so you should be good to trip it.
Ackuda |
Ackuda's spell completes, and Bastion grows in size. He then directs a Hex at the golem with a pointed finger and a fearsome glare. He chuckles unnervingly.
Enlarge Person on Bastion takes effect, then use Misfortune on the Golem. It's a supernatural ability and not mind affecting, so should work? DC 18 will negates.
GM Red |
Yeah, I agree.
Bastion doubles in size and Inkita is forced back as a result.

The golem appears to have dark clouds over its face as it's suddenly overcome with horrible luck.

Inkita gives the golem the evil eye, but it's able to resist the bulk of the effects.
Cirri knocks the lumbering beast off its feet and it crashes forward onto the ground, sending tremors through the otherworldly floor.
The golem places its huge translucent leg up and begins to press off the floor, shards of glass chipping off of its huge body. Cirri takes advantage and slices at it.

Thanks Misfortune!
Cirri clobbers it once and feels like she could have been clobbered twice. "Bastion! Let's surround it!"
Ackuda |
Ackuda genuinely grins as he cackles to extend the misfortune on the golem, and he points at it while he speaks an arcane phrase. A glob of sticky gray stuff flies out to strike the golem.
Cackle to extend Misfortune, then cast Web Bolt. Ref DC 17 negates. If it fails it is grappled (-4 Dex, -2 to Attacks)
