Xukong looks on at the distant past suddenly interacting with them. "This wasn't supposed to happen, was it?"

It quickly points to two wands at its side - one, a red coral wand shaped like a pitchfork (infernal healing), the other the other a verdigris-coated copper wand tipped with a stylized obsidian sunburst, as well as a few flasks filled with translucent black liquid (inflict light wounds). "If I am badly wounded, use these to heal me."

Amba looks in awe at the knight in the brilliantle gleaming armor. "Yes, Sir!" She later looks at Xukong, timidly asking. "Well, you don't have to provide my own healing. I've a healing wand as well, and would be more than happy to use that in case of emergencies." She nods gravely. At Volyana's reply about the rods, she looks up to the Varisian woman, in awe again. "A whip, huh? That must take a looot of practice to master."

--

As they meet the lizardfolk, Amba looks doubtful. "I am not sure they are friendly." Preparing for the worst, Amba gives her sling staff a whirl, dropping a bullet in with practiced speed. She takes a step forward next to Dearel, and takes the staff in both hands, ready to let loose.

Amba readies for combat, while Malik speaks the modern Taldane tongue to try and calm the situation.

I'll accept a Knowledge(history) to try and deduce their language, if any.

The lizardfolk don't seem to respond well to Malik's words, although it's not quite clear whether they understand.

In any case, the dinosaur with the bipedal lizards is fastest, and charges! Ready for action, Amba flings a stone with her sling staff, striking the beast and wounding it badly. Not surprisingly, this seems to only make it angry. Unstopped by the sling stone, the dinosaur creature continues charging the nearest target: Dearel.

@Xukong: Save your wand charge. If you want to do it now to prepare for future combats, that's fine. Just let me know.

Collectively, the group is able to down the attackers with nary a scratch. Such displays of martial skill would certainly go down in the Chronicles, if anyone were around to see it (and if Pathfinders didn't find themselves attacked multiple times on every expedition).

You have dead bodies on the floor and a dead beast at your feet, in a room you probably shouldn't be in, in a city where humans (and elves, orcs, and halflings) don't exist, heading somewhere you don't have a map to, in order to collect information about both everything and nothing specific.

What do you do next?

Let's see to these beings and see if there is anything we can do for them."

Both lizardmen were not so much "downed" as "splattered" by Volyana's flurry of attacks. The last to fall seems to be holding on to life, but he is bleeding out quickly.
You'd need a better heal check to stabilize.

Also, a second, more blunt hit about collecting data from all encounters during this adventure. Use any skill you think relevant, whether related to the thing you're studying (e.g., Handle Animal, Heal, Profession(farmer), Survival or others, or the method you're using to record it, e.g., Profession(scribe), Craft(painting). Rather than everyone roll for this, you may be better off with a couple of highly skilled rolls supported by some aids.

"Well, for someone who hasn't studied the healing arts, I must say you're doing surprisingly well," the halfling encourages her. "Here, this part looks interesting, I think maybe we should study that some more."

Heal, aid another on Baied: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 (Adds +4, due to the Helpful feat)

Amba also has a decent survival skill check, which I could see working here. GM, can a character make multiple checks after an encounter, or just one? for everyone else: Amba has Helpful to provide +4 on Aid another, so I'd prefer to spend my skill checks aiding rather than taking the lead.

Trouble in Tamran | Sky Key Solution | Between the Lines

Allowing multiple checks would be the effective equivalent of Take 20, and I don't think that's appropriate here.

While the group discusses their net course of action, Malik searches the room. It's spare, with rubble in the east side from a long ago collapse of the wall. The engravings on the walls are intricate enough to have once held some importance, but the room seems generally abandoned, save the track of footprints between each of the exits. This room must now be a just another room for travelers of the tunnels.

Baied determines that copies—or at least summaries—of the engravings would indeed be valuable. Appraise helps you recognize the valuable parts, and I'll grant a circumstance bonus for transcription, if someone else makes a check.

Xukong makes several notes that he thinks would be useful for the Society, but given his focus on engineering, the notes say less about the animalistic designs than the Society needs. In other words, partial credit, but I need a more targeted skill check.

Anything from anyone else? I'll move on, but feel free to still make those checks, if it happens soonish.

Trouble in Tamran | Sky Key Solution | Between the Lines

You move deeper into the tunnels, taking care to avoid further encounters. Perhaps today is a holiday, because the halls seem less occupied than you might expect.

Eventually, you find a deeper inner chamber.
No map for this one.

Clouds of steam rise from this balmy chamber’s countless pools. Small, rocky islands abound, separated by cloudy, mineral-laden waters. Each island supports a stone plinth carved with minute glyphs and elaborate pictograms. Sliding across the floors and floating in the pools, thousands of snakes of various species and sizes slither throughout the chamber and bask in its tropical heat.

Baied recognizes (Appraise, take 10) that these plinths would be of great value to the Society, and the party should do what they can to decode them.

To decode, you'll need a light source near each, and a skill check. Circumstance bonus if you know Draconic. Appraise, Knowledge (history, nature, or religion), Linguistics, or Perception will work. Take 10 okay. You can attempt a given skill check only once per plinth, but can still use a different skill on the plinth.

Decoding the plinths is likely the easy part. Traveling between them looks to be a bit more challenging, given the wet stone and large space between them.

Knowledge(nature) DC 12, untrained okay:
The mineral content of the springs soothes the snakes within, keeping them relatively docile, but they can startle and bite nonetheless.

You may can leap from one island to another with a hard Acrobatics check. Or, you can instead move through the water slowly with an average Handle Animal, Stealth, or wild empathy check. Or perhaps you can devise some other method.
