Kristev |
Could you use a druid and do you allow the Advanced Player's Guide? (That and the core rule book are the only two books that I own.)
Thank you, Silas Proth.
I believe I'd like to play an urban dwarven druid with the Defense subdomain, since urban druids can pick Protection as a domain and Defense is a Protection-subdomain.

Count me in! Level 1 nagaji paladin here.
And Kristev, yes the APG is legal for Society play (most of it, anyway), but there are some very specific rules about making a character. This free PDF will tell you everything you need to know. This page will tell you everything from the various books that is legal and not legal.
GM Lamplighter |
OK, we have more than enough for one table now, so we'll get that one started.
Please post the character you wish to play, and I will select a team of 6 that works well together. If possible, and there are enough applications, I will run a second table as well.
Deadline for application is Friday, Jan 9th at 11PM Central Time.
If you are new to PbP games, please read this post.
Before you commit to this game, here are the expectations that I will hold you (and myself) to. Much of this is stolen from GM Damo and Painlord's excellent PbP GMing Guide. Some of it is me being picky, since running a game takes my time, and if I don't have fun I find it's hard to keep the game fun for everyone. You don't have to agree with my opinions, but if you do you have a better chance of making the cut.
Posting rate: at least once a day. If you can't do this on a regular basis, please don't sign up. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this is what kills games - everyone is just a few hours late, and suddenly it takes a week to open a door. If you will be away for some time, you can either give me general orders to run your PC by while you're away, or just let me know and I will run you until your return. I will reserve the right to NPC anyone who hasn't responded within 24 hours of my previous GM post.
Character builds: I prefer games where the characters are actually realistic Pathfinder graduates - not just a walking bag of hit points with a single weapon they can swing really well. This isn't the game to try out your uber-death machine. I'm not good at that style of play and I don't enjoy it. I would strongly prefer people to bring characters that make sense from a campaign point of view as Pathfinders - good in combat and out of combat, with wit and knowledge to back up cold steel.
Roleplaying: By signing up, you are committing to joining this party of adventurers. That means you will post as if your character is there, not just pop in to roll dice and collect a Chronicle. The game is more fun for everyone when everyone plays it.
That's it - let's see some characters!
Silas Proth |
Not entirely sure what you mean by "realistic Pathfinder graduates." But this paladin has a personality I've been wanting to try out, and I've used him in one scenario so far and loved it.
Basically, he's what you might call a Bible-thumper. His holy book, The Acts of Iomedae, is with him at all times and he quotes it frequently. Everything evil is either a demon or an agent of one. He's not the "lawful stupid" many people hate paladins for, more of a "valkyrie" who isn't afraid to take the baddies down-- tactics are not lost on him, and if mercy isn't warranted he won't grant it. Though, to be fair, he is pretty stupid; he doesn't let things like "facts" get in the way of his goals and convictions.
EvilMinion |
Sure, why not!
I will dust of my good old lvl 1 dwarf cleric for another scenario (no healing skills to speak of!)
Jiggo Maelerant |
Still working on his character sheet, but Jiggo's personality has been around for about 15 years.
Jiggo's a very kind person who believes that no one is born evil - only the weakness of man gives into temptation. He's a big believer in communities and urges people to cooperate rather then compete. If he thinks there is a chance to redeem someone, he will try, even if that leads him into a trap.
He's here to spread the word that good feels good. It makes him happy, it should make you happy. While he will gladly beat that into your head with his trusty quarterstaff, he'd rather talk it out.
Lumnessa Raziel |
Oooooo! Pick me! A small gnome with blue hair appears out of nowhere raising her hand high in the air. Suddenly she stop and her eyes go wide. Oh no! I hear my other GM calling! She then scurries away just as quickly as she appeared.
I"m definitely interested in playing. I have a couple of 2nd level characters I could bring if we are playing up, and a million ideas for 1st level characters if we play down.
2nd Level: (I'll have their profiles updated tonight-ish)
Vohnkar: A Oread refugee from Numeria. Knows nothing of his past or what he is. Desguises himself to look human.
Shechera: A young woman from Diobel. She fell on hard times, had to flee her home and ended up with a group of bandits. She almost perished in a failed raid on the Red Redoubt, but was rescued by Pathfinders, there on a training mission.
1st Level: (I have the characters sheets filled in I just need to get in into a profile)
Nentayra: A Half-orc Druid from the Mwangi Jungles. Growing up a sheltered live she is a little naive. She seeks to see the world as a pathfinder.
Ahnmett: A Sylph Arcanist, desperately searching for information on his linage. He emphatically believes that is a distant descendant of a great Osirioni arcanist, possibly Nethys himself.
Silas Proth |
Kristev, this is for Pathfinder Society (PFS). If you want to build a dwarven druid, you should build a dwarven druid-- the dynamics of this particular group are completely irrelevant to your character. In PFS you take your character with you from module to module, so you'll be in a wide range of diverse groups. (That being the case, versatility is more prized in PFS than in most Pathfinder campaigns.) The links I posted earlier will tell you everything you need to know about making a PFS character-- point buy, hit points, level advancement, etc.
Garikai Frendosherks. |
Allow me to introduce you then to Garikai Frendosherks, adopted son of the half-orc druid Mako Friendofsharks and last survivor of a dwarven mining colony murdered by drow.
http://3edb.com/viewCharacter.asp?cid=23056
He is a healer and protector, but don't expect him to be nice about it. Would the DM allow one variation: To change stonesinger to seasinger? It makes more sense, since he was raised ever since the dwarves he came from were killed by the drow by a half-orc who lived by the ocean and befriended the sharks, that Garikai would have more of an affinity for cold and water spells than for earth ones. If not, I'll understand.
Well, what can I say? When your parents are killed by the dorw, your adoptive father is a half-orc, and your nanny is his animal companion - Mrs. Jaws, you learn to get tough, and how to treat wounds and protect the weak from attack, at the cost of simply being not nice.
Thank you for your consideration.
Taliesin Staccato |
Would still love to play. This character, Lvl 2 bard, is big on cheerful RP...backstory below.
She is tired of getting everything she wants and receiving preferential treatment from everyone because she is so beautiful, funny, witty, influential, and charismatic. School has been much too easy, since Taliesin remembers all the facts. Her professors, schoolmates, and family all love, adore, and worship her. Men fall over themselves trying to get her, and she is the envy of every woman. Something has to change.
That's why the young woman has left Magnimar in the dark of night to join the Pathfinders, leaving her noble, wealthy, and influential family distraught by her disappearance. If it's any concession, she did leave a note. Taliesin's main concern leaving is that she doesn't want to get dirty...perhaps she will miss her bath.
She also consulted a map before leaving. Surely this "Sandpoint" will have beaches to relax on, but hopefully some other challenges, too. Taliesin is tired of everything being so easy.
Piety Angelbane |
Piety Angelbane is a young Tiefling Witch from Cheliax. At the first look he look almost like a human with pale skin and black hair. But at the second glance you can see tiny horns beneath the black hair in his face which he tries to hide under a hood or a hat. Treated badly by the other children in his childhood due to his origin, Piety preferred to stay away from them. He studied five foreign languages and learned much about nature, the planes and magic.
After his mother died he left Cheliax looking for a new assingment. He heard about the Pathfinder Society and went to Absalom to learn from the best. He was tought to use his talents in magic, but also how to use weapons. Despit his high intelligence he also grew muscles. After years of education he finally did his Confirmation* by successfully completing some tasks for VC Valsin. He's now the owner of a brand new wayfinder.

GM Lamplighter |
Would the DM allow one variation: To change stonesinger to seasinger?
Alas, because this is for Pathfinder Society, GM changes are permitted. Since you may play this PC at a bunch of other GM's tables, everything is done according to RAW to avoid GM discretion from causing problems for the next GM.
Lumnessa Raziel |
OK looks like there are more than 2 tables here. I'm already in a bunch of games so I"ll bow out of the running. Unless he feels like running 3 tables :) I'll catch this scenario some other time.

I will create campaign threads this afternoon, and we will juggle at that point if needed. PLEASE update your character sheet, and not just with math. I need your PFS record in terms of scenarios played, and also your background and personality. At the very least, I need to know where you come from, what your goals are, and why you joined the Pathfinder Society.
Game on!
GM Lamplighter |
Just this PC is fine for scenarios.
This thread is connected to the Table 1 campaign threads.
Table 2 is here: Table 2
Table 3: Table 3
See the post above for table assignments. We will see if we can get another PC or two where needed, and start first thing tomorrow.
I've never run three tables of the same scenario before, and I hope that I'll be able to keep pace - I have run three different scenarios at the same time, though, so this should be easier, right?
Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida |
If I can't make table three, maybe we'll get four. Also, if my formatting is terrible, please let me know a better way to post/introduce my character.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
AC Bonus (Ex) When unarmored and unencumbered, you add +1 to your AC and your CMD.
Armored Scales (Ex) Nagaji have a +1 natural armor bonus.
Bonus Feat A flowing monk replaces the normal monk bonus feats with the following - Agile Maneuvers, Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, Dodge, Improved Reposition*, Improved Trip, Nimble Moves, and Weapon Finesse. At 6th level, the following feats are also available - Acrobatic Steps, Bodyguard*, Improved Disarm, Improved Feint, Ki Throw*, Mobility, Second Chance*, and Sidestep*. At 10th level, the following feats are added - In Harm's Way*, Repositioning Strike*, Snatch Arrows, Spring Attack, and Tripping Strike*. (Asterisks denotes feats from the Advanced Player's Guide.)
Bullied You were bullied often as a child, and you are now constantly ready to defend yourself with your fists when an enemy comes near.
Flurry of Blows (Ex) You can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action.
Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.
Low-Light Vision Nagaji can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Redirection (Ex) At 1st level, as an immediate action, a flowing monk can attempt a reposition or trip combat maneuver against a creature that the flowing monk threatens and that attacks him. If the combat maneuver is successful, the attacker is sickened for 1 round (Reflex DC = 10 + 1/2 the monk's level + monk's Wisdom modifier to halve the duration), plus 1 additional round at 4th level and for every four levels afterward (to a maximum of 6 rounds at 20th level). The monk gains a +2 bonus on the reposition or trip combat maneuver check and the save DC for redirection increases by 2 if the attacker is using Power Attack or is charging when attacking him. The benefit increases to a +4 bonus and an increase of the saving throw by 4 if both apply. At 4th level, a flowing monk can use redirection against an opponent that the flowing monk threatens and that attacks an ally with a melee attack. At 8th level, a flowing monk can make both a reposition and a trip maneuver as part of a single immediate action with this ability. At 12th level, a flowing monk can use redirection against any opponent that attacks him in melee, even if the flowing monk is not threatening the opponent who attacks him. A flowing monk can use this ability once per day per monk level, but no more than once per round. This ability replaces stunning fist.
Resistant Nagaji receive a +2 racial saving throw bonus against mind-affecting effects and poison.
Serpent's Sense (Ex) Nagaji receive a +2 racial bonus on Handle Animal checks against reptiles, and a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Veteran of Battle (Gorum) You have fought in several battles, and each time felt the presence of Gorum guiding your sword-arm, making you ready to act at a moment's notice. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Initiative checks, and if you are able to act during a surprise round, you may a draw a weapon (but not a potion or magic item) as a free action during that round.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency Monks are proficient with club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shuriken, siangham, and sling. Monks are not proficient with any armor or shields When wearing armor, using a shield, or carrying a medium or heavy load, a monk loses her AC bonus, as well as her fast movement and flurry of blows abilities.
