"We cannot bid 12 coins more than once, and we cannot bid less than 9 coins, so your logic is sound, Aryn. Hmmt..."

Shungur rubs his chin. "I don't know if they will react to our bids. But if we bid high the first time, they may try to bid high the second time. We will bid low the second time and perhaps they will cancel each other out. The third time is up to the fates, as we will have only 9 coins. So, 12, then 9, then 9. I am not sure."

The shaman lifts a finger and his owl silently wings down to his shoulder, two mousetails sticking out of its mouth. "Mehreh kto, Ptekoah. No, I don't want any." he says in Hallit and Taldan, chuckling at his familiar.

"I agree with that Shungur."

"Or I could just punch people. It's probably easier than all the math."

Erevan has another idea.

"I think that is a sound strategy, but perhaps we could convince these other bidders that it is not in their best interest to bid today. I'll go make acquaintances with them."

One other thought is to try to intimidate them into not bidding...I don't have the best check, but will try. If anyone else has a good intimidate score, might be worth some subtle whispering in their ears during the bidding.

Or the group pickpocket could just steal more tokens....

Also a good idea...if anyone has that skill.

"Or we mind control them. However, if we are caught doing any of these things, they will cry foul, now, or possibly later. I'm of the mind to play fair, even though this is an unfair system."

"Play fair now... if we lose... find out if the other buyers are evil and then take care of it then...?"

"Do your really expect slavers to be good people at heart?" Vanya asks Quinnik before moving near the other potential bidders and discretely trying to lift some tokens from their purses

Sleight of Hand check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Erevan walks up to the men that had been planning to bid between nine and twelve tokens.

"This first bid is really important to my master. You'll not be wanting to bid on it, if you catch my meaning."

intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Pree stands beside someone shorter than herself, with her arms crossed, and just stares at them for a while. And then a while longer. Maybe she snarls a bit.

intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Vanya is able to pick ten coins from the pockets of the other bidders. While Erevan and Pree intimidate other bidders to not take part in the auctions.
the scenario says there's two NPC bidders at each auction, I'll put it down to one bidder

You now have 40 coins in total, how do you want to spread them? The answer is clear, but I need to hear it from you ;)

If we have some extra can we buy a couple of slaves to give us back massages, and tally up our treasure, maybe be our wand and magic weapons caddy?

"And keep the spare change" says Vanya while giving Shungur the coins and grinning widely

Shungur keeps the coins and returns the smile. "I like the way you do business, Vanya."

There are only the three slaves for auction today (the three you have to take back to the VC), but on the way to the meeting point they might give you a massage and carry your gear ;)

For each auction Bounder collects the bids, or at least he tries to because almost nobody wants to bid on the slaves. "What's up? Look at these brave heroes. They still have most of their teeth! They are healthy and strong!" But he gives up soon.

"Let's see what we have here. 10 coins from the guy over there and 13 coins from the lady with the red headband. That's a win for the lady. Congrats!" he says, writes down a number on the bid paper and hands it back to Vanya. He continues the procedure for the other two slaves and hands the sheet of paper back to Vanya.

"You may collect your purchases outside." Bounder says when you leave his auction house. Obviously unsatisfied with the amount of coins he earned he stomps away.

Vanya approaches the slaves with a reassuring smile on her face:"Don't worry we are not in the flesh trade. We were sent to free you by none other than Ollystra Zadrian, in recognition of your efforts in Mendev"

"Best if we have this conversation away from prying eyes and ears for the safety of these folks just freed." Quinnik says to the others.

Erevan smiles as they "collect" the purchases.

"That went well...where do we let these guys go? Maybe outside of town?"

Did we have any purchase documents? It seems we ought to send them with proof they are freed...

You pick up "your" slaves and guide lead them to the meeting point, but before you leave the district the other bidder and his goons track you down. In an narrow alley they approach you.

"Hey, you have something I want!" he says and orders his goons to attack.

"We take them to VC Zadrian, as ordered, she'll take care of the rest" Vanya answers Erevan before pointing at the incoming thugs:"Seems like you'll finally be able to show me how that sword of yours solves problems..." she grins unsheating her daggers and suddenly disappearing from sight entirely!

Vanya casts vanish and then approaches the thugs, can't find the map though

"Is it death that you want?" says Shungur somewhat casually. While he is a generally peaceful man, he is still a Kellid.

Hmmm...not seeing a map still...

Erevan sizes up the enemy and nods to his companions and moves forward.

"Follow my lead and we'll all make it out alive. I could take these jokers myself," he boasts.

Using Sensei ability, basically Inspire Courage bard ability, everyone has +1 ATK/+1 DMG! DON'T FORGET!

Vanya vanishes and approaches the ugly leader while Erevan boasts to inspire his comrades.

The thug with red gloves approaches Shungur and tries to hit him on the head.

Shungur utters something in a gutteral tongue similar to Hallit, and the color drains around him, his eyes fading from starlight twinkles to pure blackness. A white-hot glob of flame appears around one hand, and he swipes it across the thug's face, to good effect.

"Kick a rock, start a landslide," he says. (It probably sounds stronger in the original Hallit.)

Quinnik moves forward to target the blue foe in the southern alley...

Aryn moves into a flanking position with Bree while raising her greatsword, which she then tries to bring down on the thug between her and Bree.

Quinnik continues to focus on the blue thug in the alley...

Shungur begins to cast a spell and fire suddenly hits the thug's face and leaves strong burn marks. The man starts to scream. Quinnik targets the thug with blue shoes in the narrow alley and hits.

I have to do the slave's action before Aryn's. The three guy in the middle of your group are the slaves you have to return to Zadrian. Only blue, green, red and the fat/ugly kid in front of Vanya are foes.
One of the slaves moves aside to give Aryn room for a strike. Aryn hits the same guy with her greatsword.

The thug in the alley picks up a bottle and pours it down.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The second slave moves up to the injured thung and attempts to knock him out with fists, but misses.
orange vs. blue: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 2 = 15
I know there's possibly an Aoo, but the thug just had a refreshment so he's not ready to hit the slave

Another thug steps up to Vanya and tries to hit her with his greataxe while their fat leader swings his sword.
green vs. Vanya: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
black vs. Vanya: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Ahem... Vanya is supposed to be invisible... She used Vanish so the thug should not have been able to see her. Also she should attack against flat footed when she appears

Suddenly Vanya's figure coalesces in front of the group's leader stabbing savagely at his chest:"We are in a hurry, these people need to be on their way now that they are slaves no more and you need to stop harrassing those who can kick your butt!".

Attack roll 01: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26 -> Damage roll: 1d4 + 4 + 1 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + (1, 6) + 1 = 15

That got to hurt... it's against flat footed so I suppose everything hits

Erevan's sword is a blur as he strikes at the blue-clad warrior before him with a fluid motion, then pivots to a defensive stance.

"En garde!"

+1 Dueling Sword (adamantine) (fighting defensively, crane style, defensive parry): 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 + 1 = 241d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6 (+4 dodge bonus to AC; AC is 25 through next turn)

Sorry, forgot to put that into the list so I did not remember. Just ignore the attacks and damage...

Vanya appears in front of the group's leader and stabs him twice. The blade pierces deeply into the man's lungs and he collapses. even without flat footed that would all hit :D

Pree may want to do her R1 action?

Huh, it seems I read it, but forgot to resolve it. At least I noted the AC25 :/ I'm really sorry for that. That happens when the boss walks in and asks questions...

Erevan's attack lands a blow on the thug with blue eyes while Quinnik's arrow hits the second remaining thug in the chest.

Sorry. was patiently waiting my turn and never noticed the middle of pile unbolding.

She takes up the turtle stance and waits for someone to take an offensive action with in her reach.

Aryn moves up the the thug fighting with Vanya. As the color's drained from her hair it's swept up by an invisible breeze no one feels. The color from Aryn's eyes changes as well, becoming as white as her hair. She raises her greatsword and, with the increased strength her bloodrage provides her with, swings it at the thug.

While Shungur attacks with his fiery fist Quinnik shoots an arrow at one of the thugs. Both attacks miss, but Aryn's greatsword attacks knocks out another thug.

The remaining thug attempts to flee and the slave tries to punch him, but misses.
