GMsui |
Both guards retreat, the lower one drawing an attack from an adjacent skeleton in the process.
One between the two skeletons withdraws, and thus only provokes when passing under the orange skeleton. The other moves normally, so provokes from blue.
Blue AttOp: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Orange AttOp: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Both evade the skeletons' bony grasp. One rushes over to the captain, and picks up his crossbow, still loaded. The other takes his position in front of the wannabe arbalestier.

Bold may post. Guards have taken 12 and 13 damage. Skeletons are unharmed apart from already being dead and all.
E'li |
Know religion 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
On his turn he will cast magic stone.
Rathor |
Seeing the skeletons distracted by the fleeing guards, Rathor steps past his companions to take up position to the north.
This move should only provoke attacks of opportunity from the blue and orange skeletons.
Able to finally bring his full size to bear, he slashes at the nearest skeleton.
Attack on red skeleton: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage on red skeleton: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8

And load your sling, I presume? You have a move action remaining.
Believe it or not, for the commonest of enemies, 5 is the base DC, and none of these guys are CR 1+, so...
You know it's a skeleton. And undead. And for the bit of useful information, though you might have guessed this from witnessing the proceedings, bladed weapons don't do so well - they are resistant to weapons except those that do bludgeoning damage.
Hangust |
Hangust comes to and through blurry eyes sees a gnome standing over him. He listens as he's warned not to get up, then nods towards the crossbow bolt still lodged in his chest.
Give me a good reason not to kick their asses. He whispers back.

[dice=Attack on red skeleton]1d20+4
[dice=Damage on red skeleton]2d6+4
By my reckoning, only from blue.
Your blade struggles mightily to cleave bone in the absence of flesh. While you do damage the creature, it remains a threat.

I'd like to point out that, post-decomp, skeletons kinda lack asses to kick.
I'd also like to point out that the ownly skel that threatens you has taken an AttOp this round.
Adriana Korinne |
Adrianna winces when the claws strike, but struggles through and lashes out with her own blade.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 + 1 = 7
17---> 12 HP
Hangust |
Alright I'll give this a shot then, pretty sure even my max nonrage damage isn't enough to get over DR though.
Hangust stands up, and takes in the situation then holds his Kukri up in a defensive stance.
Fighting defensively AC18

You'd do better damage with your fists against these things anyway. Just attack one of the skeletons that's already used its attack of opportunity.
E'li |
He will load the sling and tell the party Use blunt weapons on these undead creatures. Other weapons are ineffective.
Hangust |
An unarmed strike would do a maximum of 2 nonlethal damage and with me having two health the skeletons are providing me a shield from another crossbow bolt to the chest. I'll just use my defensive action and retreive my weapons later, I have my bow for now as well. I had assumed my getting up included weapon retrieval since that's how it worked previously.

Drawing a weapon as part of a regular move is free, but you are picking up a dropped item, not drawing, while standing up, not taking a regular move. Unfortunately, one of these distinctions also prevents you from picking up both kukris via two-weapon fighting in the same action.
Then again, I realize now I let Rathor get away with not dropping his weapon, so in the interests of...
What were we discussing?

Oh, snap. That one slipped past me, too. Maybe I'd have remembered to channel if I'd been forced to leave my useless longsword behind. Balls.
E'li |
You transmute as many as three pebbles, which can be no larger than sling bullets, so that they strike with great force when thrown or slung. If hurled, they have a range increment of 20 feet. If slung, treat them as sling bullets (range increment 50 feet). The spell gives them a +1 enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls. The user of the stones makes a normal ranged attack. Each stone that hits deals 1d6+1 points of damage (including the spell's enhancement bonus), or 2d6+2 points against undead.
Flyn Rider |
As Flyn gets surrounded by the undead monstrosities he swings his blade out quickly to strike at one of the undead.I will target the green one
Rapier: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

This is the last round of Puks performance, and I believe Flyn enchanted his blade at the start of combat.

Roger. Green is dead then. Dead-er.
Losing the purple prose for a bit. Green crumbles, Red is damaged, Blue is damaged.

Yes, I dont want to loose another turn for being sick or being at work/
Hangust |
You'll have 24 hours from whenever GMsui posts the guards next combat round, which will come after Puk posts next. Don't resign yourself to being unable to do anything just yet.
E'li |
Well it gets frustrating that I missed a turn because I was sick and then being told I didnt have permission to post despite being given a 24 hour timeframe. Is there any point to my character even being here?
GMsui |
I'm driving to Pacificon tomorrow morning and probably won't be able to post again until maybe midnightish tomorrow. To make things a bit easier, assume the skeletons delay next round so they and the guards move at the same time. That is assuming the skeletons continue undeading.
The two guards step further back and ready themselves.

Rathor |
Rathor growls as he raises his holy symbol high. "I've had it with these damned skeletons! Erastil, hear my call! Destroy these affronts to the life energy of your world!"
Channel positive energy to damage undead: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Will save DC 11 for half damage.
Hangust |
Since it looks like the skeletons are gone I'll use both my actions to grab my kukri.
GMsui |
Red's and Blue's saves don't actually matter.
Orange Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Rathor calls upon his deity's aid, and the remaining skeleton burn away into ash.
One of the guards' readied action goes off. He trains his crossbow on Rathor and fires...
Readied Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
... but his bolt bounces of the half-orc's armor!
Off to the races, I suppose? Note: Green-bordered guard was the one that picked up the crossbow. Also, since Rathor seems a bit antsy, he should know he still has a move action remaining.
Rathor |
Sneering at the two guards, Rathor points threateningly at them. "You got two chances to surrender, little humans, which is twice as many as most get who try to kill me." He looks around to draw attention to how outnumbered they are now and adds, "Which means you're going to die screaming down here just like people who became those skeletons did."
With that, he brandishes his large longsword menacingly as he advances, his massive feet shaking the ground as he marches toward them.
Adriana Korinne |
"You talk too much for someone that was taking a dirt nap moments ago", Adriana responds, moving up near the guard, and slashing with her sword.
