Sirius Sa'luk |
Combat is over. Take a minute and recover. Somebody help Brundie, he bleeds out in three rounds.
He's got 8 rounds, actually - the threshold of death is negative hit points equal to one's Constitution.
Hanzo Yamizaki |
His stabilize roll is d20+con - negatives, so poor Brundie's still bled to -7, a larger # of negative HP is a pain.
As Brundie continued to bleed at first, the perceptive notice the blood suddenly stops flowing.
Brundie Hands |
4/8hp
Brundie slowly wakes up. He looks around, seeing multiple enemy corpses and thankfully no other friendly ones.
"Well, at least I stood my ground against multiple enemies and we won."
GM Ewok |
Once everyone wakes up, the party recovers slowly and begins to investigate the room. Among the fallen bodies, Sirius finds a note written by the dhampir that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave. In addition, a small pearl of power (1st-level spell) and a ring of protection +1 are found in the Dhampir's pouch.
During the investigation, but after the loot has been divied up and healing has completed, Takega finds a concealed passage in the northern wall; this tunnel leads to a tight and winding passageway.
You hear the faint sounds of combat and the voice of Janira Gavix shouting something.
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz pulls out all the healing items from the bag and offers them to whoever can use them... "Anyone need these?"
Takega Kawakami |
Takega attempts to speak but his wound confounds his efforts; the only sound he seems able to produce is a gurgling wet cough. He gesticulates at both Ystrizz-san and Felix-san in an attempt to convey his state and need for aid.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz walks over to Takega and hands him a potion of cure light wounds... if he can't drink it himself, he'll pour it down his throat...
Takega Kawakami |
Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Takega takes the vial with one hand and pours the contents into his mouth. As the magical elixir hits his throat the wound visibly glows brightly before receding and closing. Once the potion is fully consumed Takega bursts into another coughing fit, expelling a sickening mixture of blood, bile and mucus.
"My thanks, Ystrizz-san, and apologies if I got any of that on you."
Takega Kawakami |
Felix and Brundie should be full HP now. Sirius and I are down 4 and Hanzo is down 1 I believe.
Brundie Hands |
"Thank you, Felix. So, what is our next objective here? Also, it looks like the Minotaur has been led away, I don't hear it coming after us."
Takega Kawakami |
"Yamikazi-san is correct; there is the tunnel that went west from the shrine, as well as this one that continues from here. I also think we should advise Uori of our discoveries here so future visitors can be aware. I must retrieve Matsukaze regardless, so if we decide to press on from here I will inform him. In my opinion we should explore the western tunnels."
Takega Kawakami |
Taking notes as well
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz pauses to take some notes, while takeaway retrieves, his mount.
Brundie Hands |
Brundie, after wiping himself off of his own dried blood, he takes out his journal to continue to write.
"West is as good a location as any. If no one is taking the pearl and ring, I will. If only to hold onto them until the end of this ill-advised adventure."
GM Ewok |
After regrouping the group returns to the main cavern and comes upon Uori. "Zombie gillmen?!" He stands up in shock. "They have been missing for many months. I must go give them a proper burial." He gives the group a deep bow before leaving. "Thank you for giving my people their rest."
Entering the western tunnel, the entrance is about six feet wide. Sorry Takega. Also, the walls are covered in a bioluminescent fungus, giving off a blue light. After trekking through the twisting passages for about 20 minutes, the tunnel broadens You're welcome, Takega. to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline. The river is only 1 foot deep, and it flows languidly at an almost imperceptibly slow speed.
As the tunnel broadens, you hear two people speaking in a foreign language up ahead.
"No! The chief specifically asked for a cavern with a river."
"Boss. This is a river."
*Smacking sound*
"NO! My piss is bigger than this!"
New map opened up. No initiative roll necessary yet.
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz whispers softly... "SOmeone's speaking the language of dragons up ahead... something about wanting a cavern with a river, and arguing over the size of the waterway ahead."
"I'd take the ring but it really should go to someone who's likely to be in front and be a target don't you think?"
Sirius Sa'luk |
"Does anyone else want the ring?"
"Gladly!"
Takega Kawakami |
Just checking, is Matsukaze supposed to be with us? I got the impression from the exposition that she should but her icon is not on the map. If she's further back due to squeezing that's fine.
Takega lowers his voice to a whisper. "Do not alert them to our presence. The element of surprise can still be ours. Ystrizz-san, how close do you need to be to attack the dragon-speakers with your alchemical weapons? Gavix-sensei's pack has a potion that should allow you to close without being noticed."
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz whispers... "I have to be closer than this... throwing range close."
Brundie Hands |
Brundie walks with the group, a bit weary from being unconscious. In the middle of the group, he stays silent for the time being.
GM Ewok |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
As the party quietly whispers and deliberates on how to proceed, the harsh and high pitched voices continue to echo from the cavern.
"Boss, while I do not doubt the size of your waste stream, I think this river is good enough for the chief!"
The second voice answers, raised slightly. "Son, if I bring the chief to his new village cavern and there is not enough bathing room for all 14 of his wives, it will be my head!"
"But..."
"No! We'll camp here tonight and keep looking tomorrow. This river must widen somewhere."
Ystrizz |
"They want to locate a village here in this cavern and are worried the river isn't wide enough for their chief's 14 wives... they plan to camp here for the night... perhaps we should go talk them out of bringing their folk here."
Brundie Hands |
Brundie keeps an eye on Ystrizz as he goes to talk to the talking group. He once again takes out his journal and begins to write down what has, and is, happening.
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz slips out of the passage and to a spot across the stream where he can talk to the kobolds from.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
He does his best to move silently til he's close enough to talk with them...
in draconic: "Hello there, little friends.. I am Ystrizz and just want to talk with you... I couldn't help but overhear you. It seems you are considering this as a new village site. A fine idea, yes, but you should know that these caves are the home of a vicious monster, a minotaur. He's out right now, but I'm sure he'll be back soon, so I've got make this short, or I won't get out alive... Just thought you ought to be aware."
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 2
folio reroll:
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 14
these could be bluff rolls if that's more appropriate... but the rolls are the same for either skill
Hanzo Yamizaki |
Since the map of us and the kobolds is presented on a slide, this will take place when applicable.
<Lizards....armed.>
He looks down at his little fox, which just looks at him with a cocked head, then yawns. It rubs its paw across its head in a cleaning way three times.
Hanzo clenches his fists, and a few seconds afterwards, his form becomes transparant, like a wrathful specter.
Hanzo sinks into the ground.
Hanzo is moving through the ground to where the arrow is pointing.
He'll remain there for 2 rounds, before he'd pop out of the ground there.
GM Ewok |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
The two kobolds look up as Ystrizz enters the room. In Draconic. "Look boss, it's a Ratman! Can we keep 'im?"
DC 19 Diplomacy, if anyone else speaks Draconic.
The leader steps forward. In Draconic. "Stop where you are, rat! Not another step." He pushes out his chest, raises himself to his full three foot height and continues. "Are you trying to threaten us? I know there's no minotaur! We're great scouts, we would have seen one of those! "
He looks over at the other kobold and winks. "Now, if you're really that scared, we'll take care of you! Yes. Just drop your weapons and we'll come get you."
Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Ystrizz Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Hanzo: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Takega: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Felix: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Ystrizz, it's obvious that he is lying, and wants to enslave you.
As this interaction is moving forward, Takega notices that the sand directly in front of Ystrizz is dry, unlike the rest of the beach. It's a trap!!! There is a trap buried under the sand directly in front of Ystrizz.
Takega Kawakami |
Takega moves forward with Matsukaze to emerge in the cavern.
"YSTRIZZ-SAN, STEP BACK, TRAP!!"
He then addresses the creatures.
"DEPART THIS PLACE AND DO NOT RETURN!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Ystrizz |
Ystrizz steps back, careful to follow his own footsteps already taken, rather than brave new territory, just in case there are more traps in the sand.
GM Ewok |
Takega Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Felix Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

"Hey boss, that guy on a horse is yelling at us. His horse is scary..."
"He's speaking the language of the humans. They yell as a compliment!"
"No boss, I think you're wrong!"
The kobolds are shaken, but they are standing their ground!
Both Kobolds pull out their slings and begin calling Takega demeaning names in Draconic.
Kobold Left: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Left Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Kobold Right: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Right Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Fortunately for Takega, both kobolds are far to busy insulting him to aim.
Hanzo pops up on his turn.
The PCs in bold may act. Anyone, in bold, who does not act within 24 hours will be botted, for sake of time.

Takega Kawakami |
Takega draws his katana and spurs Matsukase on. Seeing Yamikazi-san appear behind the foes he positions Matsukaze to take the best tactical advantage he can.

Katana (two handed), power attack damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
He glares at the other creature.
"Flee, or join your comrade. Choose now."
Takega Kawakami |
Crud, didn't realize that, sorry Ewok. Fortunately the roll is stills probably high enough to connect, so I don't think there's a material impact to the result.
GM Ewok |
The party moves into the cavern, taking up tactical positions and preparing for battle. Suddenly, Hanzo drifts out of the ground, scaring the pants off these kobolds. Frightened as they were of the man on the horse, this just made it so much worse. Taking advantage of their distraction, Takega rides in and takes a swing at the first kobold. Never having fought a kobold before, he misjudges the strength necessary to fell such a small creature and cleaves the poor guy in two.
The kobold drops the sling and pulls out a spear with a rock tip.
Well, the chief will roast me over the fire if I return empty handed. Stupid tall-creatures won't be able to withstand my genius trap!
With that, the kobold runs across the river, and stands in front of his trap and yells at the human defiantly.
Hit Takega: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
The kobold slings a rock in the horse's general direction, which lands harmlessly in the river.
By the way, those rocks in the river are impassible terrain. So you can squeeze by them on your horse, but not stand on them. The PCs in bold may act. Anyone, in bold, who does not act within 24 hours will be botted, for sake of time.
