Dresden and her guard dog rush to the aid of Kazbaz, attacking the skeleton with quarterstaff and bite, but neither is able to hit the surprisingly nimble opponent.
Eskis moves forward swinging his sword at the skeleton, but fails to hit it.
Carerris steps back to make use of her longspear, jabbing at the undead creature the attack lands, but hits nothing but air as she jabs right through the rib cage.
Reach weapons can't be used on on adjacent squares, so I stepped you back.
Note to Broain, wondered if you realized you get 8 Acid Darts a day.

Seeing the party distracted by the skeletal threat, the guards shoot each other furtive looks. Finally, the left guard says: I don't think the mistress would hire no orcs or birds do you?
Right! says the guard on the right as they both attack Braoin.
guard left short sword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Braoin |
Well, can't say that's entirely unexpected. So my understanding is I now have to perform a constitution check, subracting my negative HP (currently -1). If I'm looking at it wrong, let me know.
con check: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 - 1 = 5
Chaosorbit |
That's correct, you have to do that until you either stablize, get healed, or die.
Fail on 1st save so now at -2
Chaosorbit |
Kazbaz safely withdraws from the Skeleton and rushes to the fallen Braoin, who continues to bleed on the ground.
Diminian nails a skeleton with his club turning it into a pile of bones.
Dresden, guard dog, Eskis, and Carerris are all up.
Chaosorbit |
Dresden's guard dog bites down hard on the front skeleton snapping bones destroying the undead.
Dresden then attacks the other skeleton, bludgeoning it with her quarterstaff, smashing the bones into pieces.
Eskis slashes across the skeleton, but where skin would be is only air and his blow deals no damage to the creature.
Carerris misses her longspear attack.
One of the remaining skeleton swings at Diminian.
skeleton 2 attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Braoin continues to bleed out. Don't go into the light!
Diminian smashes another skeleton to bits.
Moved Dresden to the other Skeleton since Diminain finished off the other.
Dresden and her guard dog race to the other Skeleton and attack. The dog misses, but Dresden connects with her quarterstaff damaging but not destroying the creature.

Kazbaz's heal brings Braoin back to full heath. He suddenly regains consciousness, he's prone, but other wise ready to roll.
Since Kaz acts before Braoin in the round, we'll ignore the last missed check. Braoin make act in this round. It's a move action to stand up.
So Braoin, Eskis, Dresden, and guard dog can act.
eskis |
YOU HURT THE CHILDREN! VENGEANCE!!!
attack with meaning: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Braoin |
Braoin is rudely ripped away from the light, just when he was starting to come to terms with it. He regains consciousness lying on a stone floor, with what is obviously a battle going on around him. Upon regaining his feet, he sees a man who he has the nagging suspicion recently stabbed him in the back. Literally. With a sword. He looks the man in the eye, and hurls an acid dart at his head.
acid dart: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Thanks for the reminder about the acid darts.
Chaosorbit |
Standing up from Prone provokes an attack of opportunity.
AOO short sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Miss
Also, Acid Dart requires a Ranged touch attack (which normally also provokes an AOO, but he already took one this turn).
So go ahead and roll it. The 2 damage isn't going to be enough to drop him, so just roll it with your next post Braoin.
Chaosorbit |
Dresden's attack misses, but the effective guard dog chomps the final skeleton too bits.
Eskis passionately swings at the guard, missing.
Guard left con check: 1d20 - 1 + 3 ⇒ (14) - 1 + 3 = 16
The left guard stablizes
The final guard swings back at Eskis
guard right short sword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
guard right damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Landing a blow that disables the tengu warpriest.
Disabled - You gain the staggered condition and can only take a single move or standard action each turn (but not both, nor can you take full-round actions). You can take move actions without further injuring yourself, but if you perform any standard action (or any other strenuous action) you take 1 point of damage after completing the act. Unless your activity increased your hit points, you are now at –1 hit points and dying.

Uh Raggy old buddy...
Chaosorbit |
Eskis, you can take a 5-foot step with your standard action even when disabled. So I moved you back. Otherwise, when you cast CLW it will provoke.
eskis |
ok thanks, but i cant clw and move because of disabled?
btw, rolling a character with hero builder without reading the book may not have been a good ideal. dresden seems to have issues with focus implements
Chaosorbit |
@Braoin - Range touch attack would look like this.
ranged touch Acid Dart Rnd 5: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
ranged touch Acid Dart Rnd 6: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Should have made that clearer that it was an attack roll I was looking for.
@Eskis - a 5-foot step is considered a no action, not a move, so you can do one in conjunction with any standard action (as long as you don't use a move action) and even when Disabled. So your good. The guy was down by the time it got to you anyway.
@Dresden - I read through the Occultist playtest when you rolled it up; it's been awhile. As I remember reading it and probably effected by memory. Something like the Occultist has an implement that it focuses Mental power through, so you get a certain number of uses of Mental Focus, that you can use different "focus powers" through and something about casting spells. Is that about right? Where do you think the problem is?
Good news is after the adventure is over and until you play at 2nd level, unlimited (not in the middle of an adventure obviously) complete rebuilds are aloud. So if we decide to play another after this one, whoever can rebuild as needed.
Chaosorbit |
Braoin back on his feet splashes the guard with acid once, then attempts to again but misses.
As the acid burns into his skin, Diminian takes careful aim and delivers the killing blow.
For good measure the guard dog tears into the downed man's flesh until he is sure the man is not moving.
Combat over!
Carerris is still down, so you might want to get her some heals.
Both guards are technically unconscious.
Alrighty. What would you all like to do now.
eskis |
@Braoin - Range touch attack would look like this.

more a hero builder issue with the demo version of the occultist. that and i did not read the details on the class. trying to figure out how to use the focus traits.

Begins tying cretinz up.
I feel the unwarranted assumption that the guards wouldn't turn on us while we were fighting the skeletons was our greatest mistake. I don't think we'll make that one twice.
Nods toward Carerris. Someone really should stop that bleeding.
Chaosorbit |
Kazbaz cures everyone 6 points, and then Carerris another 6.
By my count Eskis is down 5, and Carerris 1. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Another heal for Eskis? Anything else in here?
Let me know when you are ready to move on.
Diminian Dusk |
Diminian falls on his knees and says a quiet prayer to Charon
"Oh great horsemen claim these souls in the void let them sit in the eternal abyss, in darkness..." Diminian rises to his feet and points at the door on the opposite side of the room "No doubt they're boss is through that door"
eskis |
Yup Eskis says while picking up his shield. Anything worth taking?
Chaosorbit |
Searching around you find that the mercenaries each have a sack filled with antique items. These sacks contain various armlets, bracers, and decorative weapons the total haul is probably only worth around 50 gold pieces.
If you are ready to go through the door, let me know the marching order as it is only a single door.
