You've been summoned to office of Venture Captain Drandle Dreng at Grand Pathfinder Lodge in Absalom, The City at the Center of the World.

Feel free to introduce your characters to one another while waiting to enter the office.

Kazbaz being the first to arrive drops his backpack to sit down when he does this, the pack flies ten feet toward the venture captain narrowly missing him. They hear a ghostly voice say "come on Kaz you know better than to drop things like that." My deepest apologies Venture Captain that was my um..... friend Reginald. Looks like I am the first one here whats on the agenda.

A slender man wearing black from head to toe steps silently into the office eyeing the venture captain and the gnome with a look of caution. He takes a seat in the chair stationed in the corner. His hood hides most of his sickly pale green face. His eyes are perfectly black and his hair is long and dark, on his chin he has a small amount of stubble as well as a large scar the runs from just under his mouth up and across his right eye."I am Diminian " he says in somber tone " I am here to kill, nothing more nothing less " He scratches his chin and gives out an almost none existent sigh.

Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng’s pinched face is hard to
see from behind the stack of books that divide the front of
his office from the space behind his desk. A shockingly old
man with white hair and slightly milky eyes, he is surprised
by the appearance of outsiders in his office, and looks up, half
startled and half relieved.

“Thank you for coming on such short notice. Let's wait for the others to arrive so I don't have to explain myself twice.

Thunder booms outside as Carerris enters looking slightly bedraggled, raindrops falling from her perfectly arched eyebrows.

Hello everyone. Venture Captain, please forgive my tardiness. Getting out of the dark archive tonight was madness with this unexpected rainstorm. Please let me introduce myself, Carerris Kilsewe.

Carerris scans the room looking at the other adventurers. I suppose you may all call me Cari. (Cari-like the baby-sitter from the movie the Incredibles.) She pauses when she sees Kazbaz.

With a formal nod to Dreg, Venture Captain Drandle Dreng, I am Braoin of Brastlewark. I believe we may begin.

Maps and Handout

“Thank you again for coming on such short notice, Pathfinders. I’d been meaning to give this assignment to you at a later date, and with less pressing time constraints, but it seems that time has conspired against us.” Dreng mumbles to himself as he passes out a stack of notes and maps from behind the wall of books.

“These notes are from a recent Chronicle — it contains some interesting finds, but one of them is now the utmost priority to the Society.”

Dreng lightly taps a bony finger on a map, on which can be seen a section of Absalom with a small corner townhouse circled in deep red.

“This townhouse is a façade for an underground vault. The vault belonged to an old noble family of Absalom that was expelled a decade ago — the Decklands. The family was forced out when their patriarch — a man known as Orias — was discovered to have written documents detailing the city’s defenses, documents he intended to hand over to hostile forces loyal to Cheliax. The Chronicle indicates that a copy of these documents exist within the vault."

“A Pathfinder looking into the Decklands and their Chronicle references in Cheliax was attacked and killed ten days ago. The thugs made off with a copy of his notes — fortunately, he’d already sent us another. We have reason to believe it was the work of the Decklands’ oldest child, a young woman named Celeena, and she’s the reason this assignment is now urgent. The fact that Celeena and her forces were willing to kill a Pathfinder for this information shows how desperate they are to retrieve the documents. If she were able to get these documents and return them to Cheliax, it would undermine the defenses of the whole city, as well as cause the Society undue headaches. Find Celeena, find the documents in her vault, and prevent this situation from turning into one big mess for the Society.”

Dreng pauses looking at each of you in turn.
"Do you have any questions?"

Silver Crusade

Maps and Handout

Between Braoin's study of the notes and Kazbaz's memory you know the following:

Regarding the Deckland family:

Orias was a beloved Absalom nobleman until 10 years ago, when he was forced out of the city. Rumors have it that Cheliax agents threatened young Celeena’s life and Orias felt he had no recourse but to betray the city’s defenses.

Regarding Celeena:

The agents in Cheliax report that Celeena hired mercenaries from the Devil’s Claw Company, a mercenary organization of failed Hellknights.

Regarding the Vault:

It was reportedly used to store a portion of the family’s wealth and was ingeniously trapped when the Decklands fled Absalom. The family archives, where the documents should be stored, should be right next to the family crypt in the lower levels.

Regarding the significance of the plans:

Although the plans are 10 years old, most of the information on the protection of the city is still valid. The architecture of Absalom is ancient. There are lost tunnels below that, if known of by an enemy force, would spell disaster for the city.

Liberty's Edge

After leaving the Grand Lodge you travel to the Eastgate district on Absalom’s quiet east side where the townhouse is located.

Sitting on the corner of a quiet street, the red brick Deckland townhouse melds in with the middle class buildings in this portion of Absalom. A small, flickering candle can be seen through a barred window on the building’s west side and a single door can be seen on the building’s south face.

Being very stealthy Carerris begins to sneak around the building.

You note the only apparent entry is the front door. That and perhaps the window. As you peak in, you notice the window is barred on the outside, however they don't look tremendously thick and someone strong might be able to remove them. Inside you catch a glimpse of the candle, which sits in a candlestick on a small table with two chairs in what might be a kitchen. You don't see anything there but you hear:

Now there's now way you draw the Ace of Spades there, your either the luckiest or more 'an likely a cheat

Then a second voice:

You know I ain't know cheat friend, you better watch that tongue or my sword might remove it

You won't do it, but I'd like to see you try, it won't end well for you and you know that. Cheat me again and I'll lop off your cheating hands.

You and what army! With that you hear both voices erupt in laughter.

Then the first voice:

Deal the cards you ol' cheat

The voices seem to be coming from another room not the one your are peaking into.

I was thinking a bit of trickery may be an order Carerris could pretend to be a lost child to lure them out and away as we sneak in then she looses them in some shadows and she meets us back here while they are out looking for the kid they lost! Kazbaz says with excitement and a lack of breath, then pausing.

Though Braoin has made some good points He says realizing his plan may a bit of a stretch.

You here a strange voice as Reginald speaks up "Dear Kazbaz have you forgotten about me? I surely hope not perhaps some haunting is an order. You know the classics throw the deck of cards make a sound, but whatever you decide I am sure it will be rather spiffing. Good luck chaps!" Reginald is the ghost that haunts me I can cast ghost sound and mage hand to do what he was talking about in the dialogue
