There's no murals or paintings or any other art here. Well, except that little statue. A snake, I think it is? Or maybe an eel? They all look the same, 'cept one's in the water and one's in your boot. Har!

"Lady Zhatara? Who are you? We are under orders to search this building for someone spreading lies and falsehoods" Guard 1 says as he waits at the door for it to be opened.

"You there! Stop!" You hear guard 2 yell (RED) from the corner of the building as you attempt to sneak out the back way. Whoever went GREEN ROUTE was spotted. "By order of the Magistrate you are to be detained!"

The green route is Kolris' intended route (as explained in this post), but he hasn't moved there yet. His 'round 1' movement was just to step out the door and scope out the scene. I think the only actual party movement beyond the door has been along the blue route.

You put it down, so I was under the assumption that it was your path that you were taking, and was going to take. And, with some people moving so fast, well, whatever. As soon as you get to that point near the guard, he is going to stop and spot you, and call out. Not that there is much you can do now about it.....

I wasn't trying to say that Kolris hadn't gotten spotted, just make sure that the timing of it happens correctly. I'll go ahead and move him to the likely position where he would be noticed during his 'round 2' movement. In theory, he would have traveled as far as the green "X" on the map this round had he not been spotted.

He lowers his voice calmly, trying to defuse the situation. "As I said, I am a Pathfinder and I am here legally. You may know that our organization has only recently been allowed back in Cheliax. I hope you will excuse me if our long absence has made my interest in the city overly broad; I am prone to exploring alleyways and such. He makes a show of studying the guard before continuing. "Now, if I'm any judge of character, I can see that you are actively in pursuit of someone or something. I didn't mean to make you tense. It should be exceedingly clear by now that any time you spend with me is time better spent seeking the rapscallion you pursue. Is there anything else that I can do to help you on your way?"

You have to remember the setting. Cheliax is one of the most law-abiding (evil, but law-abiding) nations in Golarion. Your bribe was actually pretty risky; that alone could have landed you in jail as well. Not paying a gambling debt is essentially theft.

I suppose so. It is also exceedingly obvious that they were going to put SOMEONE in jail after your string of awesome die rolls got us nowhere.

Giving them a simple reason to take us in at least kept the situation from escalating. Not sure how I was interfering by "reporting" an offense, but I'm not about to start arguing with the guard. Probably better than Zhatara getting taken in for impersonating a noble.

With no real help from the non-arrested group, after spending three days in jail, Kolris and Jacque and are finally released. When leaving the prison one of the jailors hands Jacque a note from Marcos. It goes on at length about all the diplomatic hoops he had to go through, and next time he might want to hold his tongue to prevent a diplomatic incident. The note goes on to say that the group might want to make it to Emberhold without further embarrassment.

When Kolris and Jacque finally makes it back to the museum, their first logical place to look for fellow companions (or at least hopefully get their location from Zefiro), everyone is overjoyed to see them. While prison wasn't bad, it could have been much worse. Three days of neglect is often as bad as three days of insults and beatings.

Given how well you handled Zefiro and Mireille I am not going to require you to roll a Diplomacy/Intimidate/bluff roll here to get the best information from Zefiro, he is thankful for all you have done, and not gotten Mireille in to much trouble - and the DC is low enough that it would only delay the scenario a bit unnecessarily.

Zefiro, once everyone has gathered back, tells you all of a major piece of evidence that he has found. Slide 10, Handout #2 While the remainder of the group not in jail assisted Zefiro in researching Emberhold the information gathered shined little light about it, except that the Thrunes set fire to the keep after starving the Davians out, and during the siege, residents demolished Emberhold piece by piece to reinforce other structures.

Zefiro informs you that are welcomed to spend your last night at the West Drenches’ Wicked Fork. It’s a weatherworn building marked by a trident with the central tine broken off and run by a talkative proprietor, Neld Havasavu. When you awake the following day, you find Cassian already downstairs, drinking at the bar. His disheveled clothes, damp hair, and grimy brow suggest he’s had an industrious morning—or perhaps just a sleepless night. After he downs another shot, he informs you that he’s through sneaking around for Zarta. He tells you that he met with her contact, the same Tamrin Credence they met at the docks, and delivered Zarta’s message. Neld inches closer as you all speak, working over a glass with a dirty dishrag.

Cassian continues, “Then I come back here and find that rat is an agent for the Aspis Consortium!” Neld leans in and states, “Well, that’s what I heard, anyway. His ties go back— way back. But that’s how it goes around here. Everyone ties their cart somewhere, you know?” Cassian tells you he couldn’t sleep, fearing that Zarta is slipping into old habits too quickly. He collected their supplies early that morning to keep his mind off these developments. You find everything is loaded and ready for the trip to the Eismonts.

SLIDE 11 - EMBERHOLD SURFACE

Little remains of the town of Anglemire. Nature is reclaiming the few sturdy stone buildings still visible from the coastline. At the north end of the city, where the Eismont foothills meet with the rocky steps of the Menador Mountains, is a short square tower surrounded by the crumbling walls of Emberhold. Thick curtains of lush, green ivy reach upward from an ocean of waving grass and cling to the cracked stone walls—all that remain of the keep.

If there was any last minute shopping (or planning) to be done before leaving, do it now. We will continue when everyone has checking in by posting, as well as placed their marker on SLIDE 11, at/near the enterance to Emberhold, though players are free to walk around/observe the entire structure if you so wish to do so..

Kolris laughs at Jacques' presumption, enjoying the man's misinterpration. "I'm glad you think so; it means that my presentation works. I've actually seen this side of the bars plenty. Though I always try to respect the law wherever I am, in my career, it can be hard to avoid running afoul of it from time to time." He spends the few days he and Jacques spend in the Chelish prison sharing stories of some of his exploits with the man. "One thing about the Chelish, in a nation so firmly rooted in law, you tend to find pretty orderly prisons. It could have been a lot worse."

Kolris has no shopping to do. He will mix an extract of blend before they arrive, leaving his other extract unmixed at this time. Before they enter or begin investigating, he'll ask if someone can activate his wand of heightened awareness. If nobody can, he will try himself.

Jacques looks over the missive, finding it strangely simply worded for a legal decree.

"'...knowingly or unknowingly...'

We aren't somehow unknowingly giving aid to House Davian, are we? I'd hate to be sentenced to starvation. That seems like a harsh way to die."

Jacques has no need to puchase anything else.

I'll try to add my icon to the map later.

"If there's anything to take out of this, it's that Thrunes made sure Davian does not exist anymore. I think. That said - I doubt we could, even if we wanted to."

Malik looks over the glooming walls that might have been impressive at some point.

"Speaking of which - how was prison food? Anything to look forward to if we get caught?", he smirks, not moving his eyes away from the walls.

Added Jacques. And I would love to help, Kolris, but I don't do spells.

"Her infernal majestrix seemed like she was a girl who held dear to her grudges. The Davians were at the forefront of the civil war against Thrune and the infernalists did not forget nor forgive them for it. A sad story, maybe, but there's a lesson to be learned there somewhere I think..." Zhatara says dispassionately commenting the document provided by Zefiro.

Once the group reaches the ruins of Emberhold Zhatara considers them briefly before asking:"Well then... shall we?"

Korlis, I got you for the wand... I should drop the PP for one of those wands myself.

"Isn't this family dead? What are we worried about?" Nali states after looking over the imperial order. "It tells us why the site was ... broken though." she shrugs. "It is a truth to the place we seek to look over; interesting to us at least."

Nali relaxes upon retrieving her bow before the party leaves for Emberhold, and getting out of Coretyn only furthers her ease. Coming on the ruins of Anglemire, however, causes her to tense slightly. As the others prepare to enter the ruins, the half-elf huntress speaks up. "Let me scout out first? Maybe find clues about what is inside?" she asks before performing a silent scouting around the building for tracks and anything she can find outside the building.

Looking in the front doors (which are pretty well smashed in and damaged) you notice lots of greenery. While you didn't get close enough for a more detailed look, when circling the remainder of Emberhold you don't notice as much greenery. You also swear you can hear movement inside, but you aren't especially sure where.

Quietly, Jacques will suggest, "Let me get a bird's eye view", pointing to the stairs visible in the ruined portion of the building to the east.

Jacques will quietly attempt to take up a sniper position to see if anything can be seen from above.

Kolris drinks his extract of blend, the colors of his flesh and clothing immediately taking on those of his surroundings in a chameleon-like fashion. He begins poking around the smashed entrance to the ruins, moving slowly, trying to ascertain the source of the movement that he thinks he heard.

(Kolris will dismiss heightened awareness for a +4 bonus to initiative if initiative is rolled during its duration)

Stealth, blend: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 4 = 19
Perception, heightened awareness: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22 +1 vs. traps

If you move more than half your base speed on your turn, you gain no benefit from this spell until the start of your next turn. If you make an attack, this spell ends (as invisibility).

If this spell is active when you have to make an initiative check, you can instantly dismiss this spell and gain a +4 bonus on that check.

KNOW Nature to ID - Kolris or anyone else who comes in/peaks in

Kolris:

A fire long ago removed the roof and floors of Emberhold’s great hall. Five thick columns still stand amidst a dense gourd patch at the bottom of the large pit that remains. The main doorway on the south side is flanked by two stone staircases that wrap around the interior of the west and east walls, much of which have crumbled to the ground. To the northwest is a square tower that’s only partially standing. Weeds have overgrown a doorway on the east wall, which breaks on the northeast corner for a wide set of stairs descending from the ground level. A rusty iron gate still stands at the center of the pit’s northern wall, rising from the densest portion of the gourd patch and fencing off a descending set of stairs.

However, as you walk in you almost swear that three of the gourds were moving, but stopped as soon as you entered the great hall.

"I know this sounds crazy, but I think some of the gourds in the basement might have been moving." he whispers while pointing towards the two possible ways to climb into the gourd patch.

I've circled what looks like a third way down, is that some fallen feature that could be used to climb into the pit, or am I mistaken?

What you see, or rather think you see, is a gourd patch kept up and farmed by some (and he can't tell how many) Gourd Leshy's.

Creatures of nature often know Sylvan. :)

Kolris is happy that he guessed right on the language, and tries to explain what the Pathfinders seek here.

"במונחים הפשוטים ביותר, אנחנו כאן רק כדי לחקור. אנו שמחים להשאיר את הדלועים לבד. אנחנו חלק מארגון שכבר מזמן אסור. לאחרונה רכשנו את הזכות לבקר באתר זה, ואנו רוצים לדעת מה קרה כאן. אנחנו מחפשים עדויות, או פרטים. אתה יודע משהו בעצמך?"

Sylvan:

"In the simplest terms, we are here just to explore. We are happy to leave your gourds alone. We're part of an organization that has long been prohibited here. Recently, we've acquired the right to visit this site again, and we want to know what happened here. We're looking for evidence, or details. Do you know anything yourself?"
