Zane Shivers |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Zane has darkvision if that helps at all peer through the mist.
Danicka Raburnus |
As everyone enters the room and begins to look around, Danicka slips inside. She's wary at first--that last exhibit room was more dangerous than it appeared--but as she starts to look around the room at the fascinating exhibits, she relaxes, losing herself in the history around her.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Zane Shivers |
Zane is fascinated by the giant warrior, and tries to decipher which tribe and heritage the dead belongs to.
Kn. Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
He is oblivious to other dangers that may be stalking in the mist... 8!
Nadric Yarrow |
Nadric wanders into the room and looks vaguely at some of the ancient figures, but he is mostly worried about the thick fog and potential dangers. Wish I could browse this place under more pleasant circumstances, he thinks, and draws his shortbow once more.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Danicka Raburnus |
OMG. All tens to start last time and all eights to start this time? Haha.
Vogue |
What threats have inflitrated this room? Well, it will soon be eradicated by Shelyn's will. Eww, I think there's something unpleasant on my boot picked up from the restroom!
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Yaiho Crasher |
Yaiho enters the room and joins the others, he sniffs the air before saying. "Yaiho here now. Undead fight. Yes?"
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8; LOL...
GM Gustavef |
Right as Yaiho says "Yes?"
Four of the corpses in the room begin to animate.
One is a withered, mummified thing from beneath Osirion’s sands bearing a jeweled scarab on its chest among its spiced wrappings, a scarab seer and warrior-priest of an old Pharaonic age named Taltuma-Matl (Red).
Another is a hulking skeleton, a towering ancestor of the Kellid race who wields a greatclub fashioned from a mammoth’s ivory tusk (Blue).
The third is a shrunken, emaciated corpse wrapped in rotten silks, and holding a silvered Qadiran scimitar in its bony fists (Green).
Last, an armored warrior of a long-dead empire, clad in heavy discolored bronze plates and helm, is also present (Orange).
Fortunately, you are on edge enough, and they crackle enough that you are not taken by surprise.

ROUND1
Naseem
Kellid
Yaiho
Nadric
Qadiran
Vogue
Zane
Danicka
Osirian
Legionnaire
Naseem, Yaiho, and Nadric can go.
These are all undead, you may make one religion check a round for one of them.
The "meaty" ones are the Osirian and the Legionnare
The "boney" ones are the Kellid and the Qadiran
The Kellid will strike at Nadric since he started right there.
Greatclub Atack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Batter up! Swing and a miss!
Zane Shivers |
Sending my actions now as will be busy later, just adapt based on outcome of characters who go before Zane
Kn. Religion - Kellid; untrained: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Zane will step up to the Kellid 'boney' warrior and swing with his greataxe.
Attack greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage greataxe: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
If Kellid is already put down will do Knowledge checks and attacks against Qadiran warrior - Zane is 30ft away, so should be able to move and attack
Naseem Hamed |
Well, I assumed there would be some undead beats here. Can't be too surprised. Let's see if I can figure out what they are
Kellid one, the guys close to me.
Knowledge Religon with Monster Lore: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
He then steps up and attempts to slash the monster with his Greatsword.
I'll carve you to bits, you worthless sack of bones! He bellows as he slashes the Kellid.
Greatsword attack and damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 222d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7
Nadric Yarrow |
Nadric can't hold back a yelp when the nearest figure suddenly comes to life and swings a giant club at him. It misses, fortunately, because that seems like it would really hurt. He takes a step backward and glances around. Among the figures is what looks like a mummy from ancient Osirion. Nadric feels intrigued despite himself.
Knowledge religion on Osirian: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Will arrows even work against these things? Well, one way to find out... Since he already has his bow out, Nadric hopes that Naseem has the closest skeleton occupied, and he draws an arrow and sends it winging towards the mummy.
Attack Osirian: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Oops, or maybe it goes straight into the floor
Yaiho Crasher |
Seeing four undead appear, Yaiho smiles with glee. He then turns to the nearest undead as foam begins to ooze out of his mouth and his eyes become insane looking. With his earth breaker in hand he rushes the Kellid looking one and rams his weapon into it.
Earth Breaker (Rage) vs Kellid (Blue): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26; Sweet
Damage (Rage): 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 6) + 9 = 21; Double Sweet, Max Damage
GM Gustavef |
Knowledge on Kellid:
* Undead Skeleton (DR 5/Bludgeoning)
* Mindless Undead
Knowledge on Osirian:
* Undead Ghoul
* Bite attack can cause paralysis
* Undead immensities and channel resistance, no DR or SR
Naseem steps up and swings at the Skeletal Kellid. Although a solid hit, the fragile bones bend more than they break and the Skelleton is still standing.
However Yaiho jumps in to the frey and with a single swing turns the Kellid in to bone powder.
Nadric steps out of the way but fumbles with his shot as the arrow drops to the ground.
The Osirian leaps on up to Nadric and attempts to bite him
Attack, Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
However, Nadric deftly sidesteps from the ghoul's attack.
Zane since the board has changes, would you rather move up the Ghoul or the Qidarian?
Vogue and Danicka are also up.
Naseem Hamed |
Your character does have a certain paleness to him, but no lol. Yaiho moved, then attacked.
Vogue |
Vogue slips around the nearby shelf and swipes his spear at the animated Osirian seer.
"Vile abomination, your time is past! In addition to that out-of-date fashion!"
Attack on Osirian Seer, red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage, piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Zane Shivers |
I moved Zane besides the Osirian red and made checks and attack against him. I expect to have missed.
Yaiho Crasher |
umm, Yaiho's not attacking Vogue, is he? That's who he's showing as next to on the map. Vogue is kind of skinny but he's not that undead looking.
When Yaiho killed the undead Kellid, his icon was removed from the map.
Danicka Raburnus |
Unable to see the enemy past her comrades, Danicka goes around the displays the other direction, finally getting a clear view of the undead before her (red).
She clutches her staff tightly as she mutters arcane words, then points at the Osirian undead, firing a beam of cold from her fingertip. As a free action she activates her volatile conduit ability, dealing an extra 1d4 cold damage if her spell strikes her target
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 ranged touch
Damage: 1d3 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + (4) = 5 cold
GM Gustavef |
After the ghoul's advance, Vogue and Yaiho attempt to attack it, but miss.
Danicka's ray solidly hits the Osirian Ghoul, but unfortunately it shrugs off the cold completely. All undead are immune to cold.
The Qadiran moves up and slashes at Yaiho.
Scimitar Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Scimitar damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
It slices in to Yaiho for 7 points of damage.
The Legionnaire lumbers slowly up to Danicka, but is too slow to otherwise attack.
Round 2 I mistakenly swapped the Osirian, and Qadiran last round so this round will be in the right order
Naseem
Yaiho (7 HP damage)
Nadric
Qadiran
Vogue
Zane
Danicka
Osirian
Legionnaire
Naseem, Yaiho, and Nadric are up, before the Qadiran strikes again.
Danicka Raburnus |
Danicka doesn't have ranks in religion and has never fought undead before.
Also, are you sure all undead are immune to cold? I know some are (like skeletons) but that's specifically pointed out in their stat block, and cold immunity is not listed under undead traits. I don't expect you to change the ruling, just clarifying for this adventure. Thanks.
Perception check to see if Danicka realizes it's immune to cold: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Gustavef |
After looking up Undead Traits, you are correct. Cold immunity is not part of those traits, but is called out on its own. The Ghoul does not have cold immunity and does take damage
The Osirian Ghoul is pained by the biting cold but needs to take care of the threats in front of it first.
Osirian Ghoul (Damage 5HP)
Danicka Raburnus |
Awesome! Thanks for double checking.
Nadric Yarrow |
Nadric barely ducks out of the way of the Osirian's jaws, and stammers out, "Pa-pa-paralyzing bite!" He had definitely not been ready to have a snarling monster up in his face. He hurriedly takes a step backwards and reaches for another arrow, hoping that luck will guide it better this time.
Swift action for luck
Arrow to Osirian: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
His eyes dart over to the Qadiran attacking Yaiho, and he wracks his brain for useful information.
Knowledge religion vs Qadiran: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Somehow knowledges always seem to get the good rolls...
Naseem Hamed |
Naseem briefly smiles after watching Yaiho turn the skeleton to dust.
Gorum is pleased with that one. I could learn from such ferocity. He thinks. He just needs a little bit of direction and he would be a true force to be reckoned with.
He calls upon his god to help him guide Yaiho.
Focus your mind and strike with the heart of the warrior! Cleave these unbelievers. Naseem shouts.
Use Inquisitors Direction on Yaiho, granting him Haste for one round. +1 AC, +1 Reflex, +1 to hit and one extra Attack this round.
Zane Shivers |
Zane frustrated with his inability to hit the monsters growls, "Graaargh", and strikes at the Osirian undead:
Attack greataxe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage greataxe: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Vogue |
Unable to see the enemy past her comrades, Danicka goes around the displays the other direction, finally getting a clear view of the undead before her (red).
She clutches her staff tightly as she mutters arcane words, then points at the Osirian undead, firing a beam of cold from her fingertip. As a free action she activates her volatile conduit ability, dealing an extra 1d4 cold damage if her spell strikes her target
[dice=Attack]1d20+1 ranged touch
[dice=Damage]1d3+1d4 cold
Danika, do you have precise shot? Otherwise, you're firing into melee and have to apply a -4 modifier to hit on that target. Your roll is likely still a successful hit but still necessary.
Yaiho Crasher |
Yaiho grunts from the scimitar strike caused by the undead and swings his earth breaker at the undead in retaliation.
Earth Breaker (Rage) vs Green: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damage (Rage): 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 6) + 9 = 21
Free Action: Maintain Rage
Standard Action: Attack
Danicka Raburnus |
I totally forgot! Sorry! Thanks Vogue.
Naseem Hamed |
Yaiho, I gave you haste this round. You can take a second swing. with a +1 bonus to your normal attack.
GM Gustavef |
I totally forgot! Sorry! Thanks Vogue.
I took the firing into melee in account. You were well above the touch AC
Nadric's arrow strikes true and the ghoul is still up.
The Qadiran is a normal skeleton (DR 5/bludgeoning)
The Qadiran swings mindlessly at Yaiho
Scimitar Atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
However Naseems burst of Haste allows Yaiho to get out of the way at the last minute. Rage AC is 14 + 1 for haste
Zane's frustrated swing connects with the ghoul and puts it down for good.
Yahoo's haste attack, and Vogue the Danicka
Danicka Raburnus |
Thanks!
Danicka shrieks at the bronze legionnaire in front of her (orange), swinging her quarter staff at it in a panic.
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Then she takes a 5 ft. Step backwards, away from the growling undead. I can't move my icon right now but will do so in an hour or so when I get onto my other device.
Vogue |
Vogue takes note of the approaching Bronze Legionnaire undead creature and quickly bounds to the right to engage it before it attacks Danicka.
"Step away lightly, lass; best to not let it touch you!" he exclaims as he stabs forward with his spear. "Come at ME, you unholy blight!"
Move and standard to attack Bronze Legionnaire, orange
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage, piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Yaiho Crasher |
Yaiho, I gave you haste this round. You can take a second swing. with a +1 bonus to your normal attack.
With Naseem speeding up his movement with his magic, Yaiho reverses his swing with his earth breaker and takes another crack at the undead monster.
Earth Breaker (Rage)+(Haste) vs Green: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 = 11
Damage (Rage): 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14
Danicka Raburnus |
"Th--th--thank you!" Danicka stutters.
Naseem Hamed |
double deuces. Ouch! well let's try that again.
No Yaiho, too much force not enough accuracy! Focus your assault! Crush them beneath your hammer.
Haste to Yaiho again.
Zane Shivers |
Zane relishes in the thrill of the kill and then charges the Bronze Legionnaire repeating his growl, "Ggraaagh!!!"
Charge with Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
GM Gustavef |
Danicka swings and hits the zombie Legionnaire soundly, but does not do anything to slow it down.
Vogue follows up with his spear and although piercing it cleanly, only a little cosmetic damage was done.
Zane finally charges and with his mighty roar, in one swing deftly cuts the zombie in two as it falls to the ground in a slump.
Yaiho, embolden by the extra speed swings, but does not connect against the nibble skeleton.
However, as the haste wears off, Zane takes one more swing with focus.
Yaiho Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
And hits the bones cleanly shattering them in to dust.
When a skeleton only has 4 hp versus a earth breaker weilded by a barbarian, it is not really good for the skeleton
End of Combat
Taking time to examine the room a bit more, you find one of the corpses that was not animated by the Mists. It is A Mwangi warrior, his body preserved in hot mud, stands against the wall of the exhibit hall. In his hands he clutches a bone-handled kukri with a jade carved blade.
Danicak History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Nadrick History: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
This warrior was a member of the Jambala Jaeg tribe—a people who once vehemently opposed Angazhan’s followers in the Mwangi Expanse and were wiped out for their opposition.
Examine the Osirian corpse, the jeweled scarab looks to be openable and it contains the last will of Taltuma-Matl (the name of the corpse)
You can take some time before examining the office. Let me know when you are ready to enter the next room
Danicka Raburnus |
As Danicka gets splattered by the explosion of ancient gore that goes flying out of the legionnaire as Zane chops it in two, she lets out a squeal. Slowly, she picks a piece of zombie flesh off of her face and flicks it to the ground. "..Thank you..?" she whimpers.
---
As Danicka examines the kukri she turns to Nadric. "Is this one of the blades you mentioned?"
--
As Danicka examines the mummy, she opens the jewelled scarab.
Linguistics to get the gist of what it means: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
She frowns and lets out a light sigh. She closes the scarab and makes sure its safely with the mummy. "Sorry about that," she tells the dead mummy. "We'll put you back later, I promise. But, you really shouldn't go around eating people. It's quite rude." As she scolds the dead mummy her voice dies out to a whisper.
And... I'm talking to a dead guy. How embarrassing!
"Shall we?" she asks everyone loudly, blushing bright red with embarrassment.
Zane Shivers |
Zane scans the exhibit room for any more threats and then whispers a prayer to Erastil casts Detect Magic
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
He looks with particular attention at the kukri and the jeweled scarab.
Naseem Hamed |
I think museums supposed to be places where people come to look at stuff? Not places cursed by demon monkeys spirits or whatever. Let's figure out what's going on and put an end to it.
Before he checks out the area, he casts heightened awareness. on himself. Naseem then searches the room while listening for other nearby dangers.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Naseem doesn't really know what's going on, he's not that bright. But he wants to try to figure stuff out.
Nadric Yarrow |
Nadric gets quite excited when Danicka points out the blade. "This is one of them! The Jambala Jaeg I've heard about. Amazing to see him in real... well, not in life, but still. It would be nice if this one would come to life too and help us out. Well, I suppose it's best to leave him at rest." He sighs. "It might be one of those blades. I don't know if it has any special properties, or if it was the strength of the ones who wielded it that mattered. What do you think?" He turns to Zane, seeing that he is examining the artifact as well.
He also watches in awe when Danicka takes a peek inside the scarab to reveal an ancient Osirian document. He breathes, "Wow. This is what I joined the Society for. Moments like this. Not bad for a first adventure! I wonder whether Nigel Aldain knows this was in here."
He wanders over to another display, looking content to stay in the room for hours as he inspects all the artifacts.
But when everybody is ready to move on, he'll follow into the next room
Vogue |
"Explore, report, cooperate, of course, but I don't wish to dally too long lest our coverings lose their effectiveness at holding these cursed mists at bay."
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
GM Gustavef |
Detect Magic
Nothing in the Exhibit hall detects as magic, though there is the general low to faint background aura depending on the thickness of the fog.
The Will
The Will is written in Ancient Orsirian, though there isn't anything of specific importance, a historian or legal scholar may find some value as a collection.
Heading towards the offices:
Open the door and you can enter the room
The door to this chamber was once a pane of expensive frosted glass, which now lies in broken shards on the floor. Within, several desks lie overturned, papers in disarray, and chairs smashed to kindling. A sturdy steel cabinet sits against the back wall, its doors much battered and dented. The mist here roils near the floor and ceiling, creating a strange patch of visibility stretching from knee-height to a few feet overhead. The smoky tendrils flow up and down the walls unnaturally and savage visages swirl to life, fanged mouths agape, before dissolving into mist once more.
After placing yourselves make another Perception Check
Naseem Hamed |
Naseem confidently strides into the room, greatsword in hand, after magically heightening his senses. He calls to his allies
Let's get a move on, I want to get out of this fog as soon as possible!
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Nadric Yarrow |
"Ah, good point, Vogue, good point. And I'm sure Zane here would like to visit a proper healer before too much longer. Let's carry on." He follows them into the office, then stands with his back to the wall to look around cautiously through the ominous mists.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Yaiho Crasher |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Yaiho looks down at the shattered skeleton as he lets his rage subside. Feeling good for himself after crushing two enemies he follows the group into the next room.
Looking at the strange action of the mist. "Could place be source of bad mist?"
Zane Shivers |
Zane completes his observations and nods at the rest. As he passes by Yaiho he states, "You are hurt. May Erastil's mercy fill you...", he then casts a spell.
Cure Light Wounds on Yaiho: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He then moves to the office.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
