M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Here is the official thread

Calius looks(not visually) at the other contestants with disdain. The fact that he even has to prove himself shows what a sad state society is in. Hopefully their deaths will be swift. It is not their fault they have been locked in a cage with a predator.

Male Human Monk/2

Being away from the forests and the like of District 7 was uncomfortable. That it was a situation of his own making admirable. That he would have to kill in order to get back to the comforts of his own home was not an honourable thing, but simply was a necessary development. At least the family had been kept safe for another year. He would do what he had to to survive, and if that meant making an alliance of convenience with someone then so be it.

His general air is one of resignation, not necessarily to his fate, but to the world general. On the other hand, he is mentally preparing himself more and more for what he will have to do.

Male Human Barbarian

Varik crouched in the corner of the area designated to them, glaring belligerently at the other competitors.

'By the gods I hate this damn place. Look at em all, thinking they are better than me. Bring on the killing already. I just want to be free!"

Shaking his head softly, he listens to the calming chime of the beads in his hair, going still for a moment, as he closes his eyes in thought. It had been many years since he had been allowed out on his own, and even more since he had been allowed out of his collar.

"Just a f%@!in dog!" He growled softly to himself, rubbing the thick rigged scar that circled his throat, a scar that cut to the bone and deeper.

Male Human Berbarian/2

Egric lounges around silently observing the other competitors.

'Nothing impressive in this group, other then us of course.'

Egirc eyes become unfocused and he stares off into space.

'Don't get cocky Egric! We haven't seen the extent of their abilities yet.

'I know Skrag. You focus on killing them, I'll be the strategist.'

After all the fanfare and the welcoming arena of Capital citizens, when everyone begins to wonder....

A man walks in..... Trainer

"Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. I am your trainer and with luck you might survive the hunger games."

still on hold for everyone to get their PCs made!

Not in use

This shall be Mark's tribute - give me a bit longer and I'll get details and such on the profile :)

Jhorryn stands in line, his back straight and his eyes weighing. He looks at the other tributes. As he does he hears his fathers voice in the back of his head, No matter what you do, a little luck could change this game in any way, but your best chance, is to know your competition. And so, Jhorryn watches. When the trainer comes in, he watches for reactions before looking at the trainer.

Calius looks at the trainer thinking, "I could probably take him if I wanted to."

Not in use

Zadlu stands in the group, but alone. The words of the trainer are heard, though he does not appear bowed by them. He turns to scan the room and take in the other competitors.

Male Human Barbarian

Varik sighs softly and shrugs, before looking the trainer up and down slowly.

"When do we get to hit stuff? This waiting around is a drag!"

Glancing at Varik Calius thinks, "That one's impatience will get him killed. Being good with a weapon alone does not make one a good warrior."

Male Human Berbarian/2

Egric looks at Varik

"oh look, someone fun to watch."

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Trainer

"Guys, what would you wish you'd done before you died?"

Male Elf Ranger 4

Lets cover that some other time, I don't plan on dying today

"Win the Hunger Games, and here I am."

Shadow Lodge

Flexing his hands, Rowan thinks for a moment before answering.

"Lived." He says simply.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Trainer

"You have to know the answer to this question! If you died right now, how would you feel about your life?"

"I guess I am askin what motivates you to win!"

Male Elf Ranger 4

My family and its protection. The smell of pines in the morning. The birds as they call to one another. Life is what motivates me to live. What of it?

Shadow Lodge

"Nothing, I'd be dead." Rowan thinks.

"I'd regret not seeing the trees of my District again."

Male Human Berbarian/2

"I'd regret not eating more food on the train."

Male Human Barbarian

"Id regret never being free!"

Jhorryn stands for a moment thinking to himself. He knows his reason to live immediately. Returning to Evie was reason enough to get through this. But these cretins need not know that. He shook his head and said, "The waters of my homeland are beautiful, and they will see me through these games."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Zadlu regards those around him before proffering his answer "I look not to win... merely endure to continue taking a further step after the last. If I were to fall, then I would wish to have been perhaps six inches to the left when the hammer blow fell..."

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Trainer

"Not good enough! Pretty this and all that crap. I want to know which of you to put my money on!"

"Look at your opponents! What are their weaknesses? Ask how can I beat each one of them? How can I beat two of them?"

"What if there are too many of them, master?"
"Then you will lose."

Shadow Lodge

This man wants us to rate how easily we'll be to kill or be killed? Rowant thinks angrily. Let him in the Hunger Games and let him bet on himself!

"Who you bet on is not our problem. Why should we care about what you think is important? Our survival is all we care about, not how much blood money you can make off of us."

Not in use

Zadlu gives a wry smirk, before walking around a little in contemplative thought. He appears to have a distinct limp. He then turns back to the trainer to ask "Surely such knowledge would be better kept to ourselves for now? - might not want to give away the game before it has begun..."

Sense Motive DC 7:
He doesn't have a limp.
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 - fail :P

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"Fine then I am your trainer who wants to ask me a question you can have one in the group and one privately, in the group questions first."

Rule

Spoiler:

Info gained in group tops out at DCs around 15
info gain in private tops out at DCs around 20+

Looks at Zadluzeny
"If you stepped in something clean your shoe outside!"

Male Human Barbarian

Varik sits there for a second, lost in thought, before speaking up. "If I get the chance, is it better to kill a few of the weaker ones off first, or leave em to last?" Varik gestures towads Zadlu with a nod.

Not in use

"Where will they be setting us loose?" hoping to get an inkling of the lay of the land before the fray.

Male Half-Elf Paladin (Undead Scourge) of Phaulkon 4 HP 34/34 AC 21 FF 20 T 11 CMD 26 Init +4 Per +2

"How soon can we start hurting people?

"What dangers are out there other than the other contestants?"

Male Human Monk/2

How deadly will the vegetation in the arena be?

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"Where will they be setting us loose?"
”In the arena.”

"How soon can we start hurting people?
”As soon as the games begin and you can acquire a target.”

"What dangers are out there other than the other contestants?"
”Main dangers are Mutts, and tracker-jackers.”

How deadly will the vegetation in the arena be?
”Vegetation can be poisonous if you eat the wrong thing, if you are not certain: do not eat it!”

Is tracker jacker supposed to something our characters would know about because I don't know what they are.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Tracker Jacker
A large golden yellow wasps that attacks angrily!
Even one sting is dangerous!
Created by the coven of witches that control the games.

Mutts
This immense black wolf is the size of a pony, its fangs as large and sharp as knives.

also a created creature!

Mockingjays
birds that repeat what people say.....
also a created creature!

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"So one day of training under your belts anyone feel more confident more capable, more full of something?.....well that is s@~$ you are full of!"

"I jus heard tha games are a little different this year, remember the land mines, the ones that keep you from leaving your pod before the games start? Well this time, you will be either let go toward or away from the cornicopia. Won't be your choice and you won't know till it happens."

Male Human Barbarian

Varik shrugs, staring at his hands for a moment with a sigh. 'Well can not really change that can I? Will have to do my best!'

He sighed, standing and stretching. "What should we do in our meeting with the Gamekeepers?"

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Private training session

Spoiler:

You meet privatly with your trainer...

He walks towards you...

”Now, a question of etiquette - as I pass, do I give you the ass or the crotch? “
As he approaches both …He holds up both hands in the classic surrender pose…..

He suddenly spreads his fingers into the claw position and gouges each of you in the eyes.

”Pay attention and be aware, because beware is too late!”

Add +2 to intiative checks!

Male Human Monk/2

So either we have a clear run to the Cornucopia, or we have a clear run away from the damn thing? That's if what you are saying is being properly being understood by me.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"That's right you will not decide which way to run instead you will be informed by a red light either to your front or back as to which way to go, stay away from the red light unless you want no chance to win."

"Surely someone else has a question, before you receieve the scar."

Male Human Barbarian

"Will there be food at the Cornicopia? Is there food throught the arena?"

Shadow Lodge

"What, in the past, didn't go over well with the sponsors?"

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"Has always been some type of food at the cornicopia, I have not heard of any changes."

"Whining and pleading are things sponsors tend to hate."

Male Human Monk/2

So quiet confidence and a determination to do whatever is needed to get through this is what they admire then I take it?

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"There have been a few who have won over sponsors even from rival districts, it is rare, but it has happened."

Male Human Barbarian

"Well this should be interesting... I don't think I have ever asked for anything politely in my life!"

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"Polite where the f&*~ are you getting polite?"

"When the tributes from one district perish in the games, they do not reward the victor, but the person who kills that tribute in turn might see a reward. Although you will know who dies, you will not know who killed them."

"Other questions."

Shadow Lodge

"Just one." Rowan says with a lopsided, mocking grin. "Have you figured out who you're betting on yet?"

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

"Not yet!"

"You still have to impress the judges!"
