A senior agent walks into the common room of the Grand Lodge and looks around. Seeing several new faces doing nothing useful, he gathers them up and says, "Venture Captain Drandle Dreng is looking for a few lazy Pathfinders to put to work. Meet him at Lenni's Apothecary in Westgate."

The walk will take at least a half hour, so there's time to get to know one another.

A tall, slender woman stands up and gathers up her few belongings. She is dressed in a stylish yet sensible dress. As she begins to leave, the other Pathfinders notice her adjust the ring on her finger. It is a bit unusual, as it is in the shape of a serpent swallowing its own tail.

She looks to see which other Pathfinders join her and greets them cordially:

"Well met fellow Pathfinders, my name is Althera. I possess a little skill with the arcane arts and have been training to be a diplomat. Please, tell me about yourselves."

Tahltria looked at the senior agent and wondered how long this act of treating new members like neophytes would last for.

I could probably cut him down with Dirgesinger before that condescending tongue uttered another word

But she knew that would do nothing but get her expelled from the Society. She had already finished one mission successfully so being expelled for a rash action would do her no good.

She saw the man waiting impatiently so she rose to keep him from making another snide remark. While the room was by no means full there was a certain lack of urgency on the part of others minus a slender lady who was quickly gathering her belongings.

Dressed in her dark forest green leather sleeveless jacket and chestnut brown leather pants Tahltria's appearance breathed outdoors. She wore no smile on her face and her jet black raven hair was unkempt and wild. Grabbing her gear, the lean muscles in her arms were easily seen even though both arms were covered in tattoos depicting a flock of ravens on one arm and the scene of a massive elder tree with ever watching ravens sitting on the branches on the other arm.

"Let's...move...then." barely louder than a whisper her voice squeaked out the words as she soon fell in line.

"Why do people always assume when someone is sitting quietly that they are doing "nothing important"? "Although singing is a noicy 'nothing' that often prevents others from being productive while sitting quietly."
A tall, powerfully built man stands and makes his way towards the drawf. He ofters his hand. "Farlen Mizzul, glad to meet you. I am just arrived from Sargava and am new in town. So if one of you know the way, lead on."

Well... I suppose it's my turn turn now, then.

Akter is a socially awkward figure in his own way; the type of serious and shy forest-bound man that assumes too much about his own charm. Yet, he carries bow and sword, and looks obviously seasoned. He isn't tall or powerfully build as some of the others; in fact, he's of average height and somewhat slender.

Akter Phruse, woodcutter extraordinaire and Pathfinder on my leisure time. - the joke wasn't funny - A pleasure to meet you all.

Farlen offers his hand to Aktor to shake and starts to walk with the group.
"When I say 'just in from Sargava', I am being a little misleading to explain my accent. Really i have not been there in some time. I should say ' by way of Westcrown in Cheliax for schooling and lately by way of Andoren's capital city, Almas where i help stablize my uncle's business." i have been in town now for about a month." "So you know, i know a liitle magic. And i am here to help you currently and the pathfinder society in general."
This all being said to Kavor and anyone wanting to listen as they walk.

Farlen is dressed in travel clothes, has a backpack and carries a thick staff with several metal bands ringing its ends.

As you approach the meeting place, a hooded, hunched beggar bumps into Althera and holds out his palm, "Have you any coin to spare, fine folk?"

A moment later, the figure doffs his hood and you realize this senile face must be Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng, "Sorry about that. I always like to play a little joke on agents when I stumble across them during my jaunts into town. Now, why did I summon you fine folk here . . .?"

Dreng scratches himself in several places before continuing, "Ah, yes, the Wounded Wisp! I'm undercover now and can't stray far from here, so I need someone to retrieve a bottle of wine for me from that fine, fine establishment. It's one of Absalom's most storied taverns, you know, and one that holds a special place in the hearts and lore of the Pathfinder Society."

It's clean for a tavern. The patrons don't look to be very rowdy either. And there is only one employee.

After a moment of silence, the bartender takes charge, "Ah, you must be Dreng's rookies. Your faces might as well be green. My waitress is late and I'm alone, but I'll take you to the wine cellar soon as she gets here. For now, enjoy drinks on the house and go mingle."

As you look around the room, most of the tables give the sense of private groups, but four do seem open to interruptions.

The first is a halfling animatedly telling stories from the Pathfinder Chronicles to a group of young men and women. The second is a middle-aged man with a holy symbol of Sarenrae round his neck. His eyes constantly scan the room, and he nods to several of you when your eyes meet. The third is a pair of half-orcs who have already challenged several people to drinking contests since you got here. Alas, nobody seems interested in accepting their offer. The fourth is a scholarly looking old man who hasn't looked up from the book he's reading since you arrived. His table is covered in books, but curiously, there is a book-free space in front of every chair at the table.

Althera looks a bit surprised when the "beggar" reveals himself to be Drandle Dreng. She recovers well and is more than happy to assist in recovering the wine.

After entering the bar, Althera's voice seems to get caught in her throat, which is normally quite out of character for her. She is relieved when the bartender offers up some information.

"Well met, sir, and thank you. I'll have the house wine, please."

Althera's eyes follow Kavor as he rushes off for some drinks with the half-orcs. While no teetotaler, she knows that her services might be best employed only if that encounter got out of hand.

She joins Farlen in speaking to the man with the books.

"May I join the two of you?" If not forbidden, she will sit down.

The Sarenite responds to Tahltria, "Old habits, you know. An adventurer should always know who's nearby, in case they pose a threat. I take it you are the new Pathfinders I've heard about? Hopefully you can help bring the Society back to its senses and standards."

Garl slaps Kavor on the back hard enough to knock over most anybody, except of course a dwarf. "Both! I've heard about a game they play at Cayden's Hall. Follow if you can."

Acrobatics (DC 10): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Garl lifts a chair above his head with one hand, then picks up a full flagon from the table and drinks it. Only after setting down the empty flagon, does he lower the chair.

DC 12 Strength check to lift a chair. DC 15 Strength check to lift a table. DC 10 Acrobatics to drink one ale. DC 12 Acrobatics to drink two ales. If you successfully drink one beer while lifting a table or two beers while lifting a chair, you win.

"I spend my time in Absalom now," Kaleel answers, "running a shop in the Coins district called Kaleel's Curiousities. I come here occasionally for news of the Society, but tend to be disappointed. We have fallen far since the golden days. Tell me, have your trainers even educated you on dangers like swarms and traps, and how to survive them?"

Yargos' eyes sparkle for a moment, but then his shoulders slump a little when Farlen only asks about the history of the Wisp. "Before the Pathfinder Society was even called the Pathfinder Society, it met here. Adventurers like Durvin Gest and Selmius Foster would convene at the Wounded Wisp to share their stores. Althea hears the man speak his name, and turns it over in her mind for a moment.

"Yargos Gill... I remember that name. My first assignment as a Pathfinder was to chronicle a mission to save Absalom from an undead invasion. You played a critical role in that effort if I remember."

I often RP my GM credits as though the character merely transcribed the adventure. It's also a handy way to explain why Althea didn't recognize Yargos right away.

We busted them out, and ended up with these field commissions. Haven't gotten too much work since, though. Seems most Venture-Captains want folks who're good with other folks."

Farlen looks at the plank. "Did that plank give much when you went across, Heryn?" "I would hate to break it or me." "Do your more weighty employees use it?"

Farlen looks around at the board and surrounding area for something to reinforce the plank.

Perception of area: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

I am assuming Farlen didn't see anything to reinforce the plank.

"We should probably cross one at a time."

Back with Yargos Gil.

"The man I'm speaking of is a pretentious wizard named Guilford Baldwin. He's a veteran Pathfinder, but not yet on the level of a Seeker, let alone a Venture-Captain. Still, he seems bright."

Not that anyone else should know him. Just another PFS character of mine.

In the wine cellar.

"That sounds wise, Farlen."

She takes a quick look at the plank and the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Sovereign Court

The plank looks sturdy enough to both of you. Heryn is being over-cautious.

She nods her head towards Kaleel indicating she will see him again another time and then heads off with Heryn and the others down into the cellar.

Tahltria waits as the others cross to the other side and then crosses over herself.

Kavor Doan crosses the plank slowly and carefully.
Any checks required?

Farlen will get in the queue to go across and crosses when his turn arrives cautiously.
"If the plank can hold Kavor, we are probably all safe. But I don't think we should do jumping jacks on it. No offense intented, Kavor. You Dwarves are notoriously stout, strong, and good in a fight. But your not light."

Sovereign Court

No checks. Just describe how you cross the plank. What is Kavor's total weight?

He weighs 192 and his gear is 45, so 237 lbs. He crosses slowly and carefully -- and has Feather Fall prepped if needed.

Akter checks the bag for his rope, instinctively. The ranger had been silently for most of the past minutes - somehow, his mind wandered around holidays in distant lands, and good roasted turkey - but, now, he felt he was back and focused on the mission.

Looking at the map, it looks like we have enough room (10 feet) to a quick run and jump to the other side? Just in case something happens with the plank.
