Mavin lands a wicked blow on the winter wolf, opening up its belly from haunch to shoulder. Then Hootie feathers an arrow right through the open wound and into a vital organ.
@Lyteonira: The only creature you could actually heal is Rigrory, so I'm going to assume you want to retcon that last action?
Zootloot and Lyteonira are up.
Zootloot |
Seeing that there is no way around a battle, Zootloot backs up and starts playing his guitar.

Zootloot begins a song on his guitar, stirring his companions passions. Lyteonira moves up to the wolf and momentarily drains the luck out of its body.
The wolf steps sideways, then exhales a blast of freezing air on half of your group.
Hootie, Lyteonira & Mavin: Reflex save vs. cold for half damage.

Moved you Therrach
Darak winces as the ic cold breath catches his beard and his companions, glad he wasn't taking the brunt of it. Seeing Therrach step up, the Dwarven soldier sees his chance and darts up, getting an advantageous position. With a roar, he slams his Axe at the Wolf's back.

Mavin - 6 damage?
Hootie - 6 damage
Lyteonira - 6 damage
Therrach quickly dispatches the white wolf with his sword, then wipes off the blood on a clean patch of fur, further staining the once pristine, snow white mantle.
After healing up, you begin to explore the excavated area. Intricate gilded stonework adorns the entrance, and a complex marble mosaic paves the floor. Arrow slits flank the north and south sides of the hall, but the north side has collapsed and is choked with rubble. On the eastern end, two 10-foot-tall marble statues of armored dwarves flank a fresco depicting an opulent throne room. The faces of the statues have been broken off.
Ice covers the floor. Characters must spend 2 squares of movement to enter a square covered by ice, and the DC for Acrobatics checks increases by 5. Note: this is a different effect than difficult terrain.
Darak "One Eye" Silverbane |
Nodding as Therrach dispatches the Wolf, Darak looks down at the mantle with interest, as if sizing it up. Rollig their shoulders to re-adjust their armour, the Dwarf sighs and looks to the rapidly melting ice.
"Nothing like a fight to warm the blood, think ye can do one of those special toasts Lytoneiria, to get us all better?" he asks as he waits, "That pelt is gonna make a fine coat."
Once they are prepared, Darak steps into the chamber and immediately begins slipping, but treads his heavy boots down to keep balance. It is slow going but eventually he reaches the end of the corridor. Looking up at the Dwarven sentinels with dismay he sighs.
"Bet it was Orc Kin, scum always ruin such great work! Now let us see if there is anything about." he says in dismay.

"We need to explore this place and while we are at it, Milady Haltani, perhaps you'd like to explain the deception? Ws it necessary?" Hootie makes sure her tone isn't harsh but ore of a questioning one as she tries not to antagonise the woman.
"The puppy there may have being one of your subjects, would you like us to check and see if it could be saved from death?"
She doesn't like the ice though, making her way step by step slowly.
Mavin Krane |
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Not sure it matters with Lyteonira's channels at this point.
Mavin comes out of rage, and then turns to confront their guide. "Care to explain yourself? What was that beast rambling on about?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Mavin also begins peering around the interred hallway, looking for secret doors or hidden secrets.

GM Granta |
Zootloot - 7 nonlethal
Lyteonira stabilizes the wolf's wounds and heals the damage he caused to herself and her allies. Therrach does not find anything of interest or danger, nor does Zootloot know any relevant facts about this historical site. However, Mavin finds a secret door that leads to an abandoned, caved in armory. The only items of interest or value are an ivory-handled heavy crossbow and a heavy steel shield, both of expert craftsmanship. And lots of empty wooden shelves.
Uliyara responds to your questions, "My mother, Baroness Nadya, sent me to Dalun as a trade envoy. I do not know exactly who struck first--or even who all was fighting--but it wasn't us. My entire envoy was murdered and I only escaped because of this disguise."
"When you found me, I was seeking a safe way home. Guiding you provided that."
Darak "One Eye" Silverbane |
How have we got non-lethal when we have warmed up and been in a channel?
Taking the well wrought Shield, Darak places it on his arm whilst keeping his old one on his back, still displaying his allegiance to his liege lord. Unable to see much of note, the Dwarf listens to 'Haltani's story with a narrowed eye, clearly not trusting her.
"Yet you have followed us out here, why is that? For a trap for that Wolf?" he snaps sourly.
Hootie Bell |
"Peace." Hootie attempts to intervene.
"While she may have deceived us, she has done us no harm as yet. We had best clear this area and then see what else we can do from there." Hootie feels obliged to sepak up though she's deeply hurt by this as well.
Betrayal does not sit well with her.
At all.
Mavin Krane |
Mavin also tries to stay the dwarf's anger. "Hold on there, Darak. Sounds like our guide was just as much a victim of the violence as the Ulfen were, in which case she's welcome among us. The wolf mentioned the Baroness of Saarbotten, do you think she might be behind the attacks?"
Having cleared out the secret armory of valuables, Mavin bears her glaive in her hands and moves to investigate path on the opposite side of the tunnel, keeping her eyes peeled for secrets.

Lyteonira Ceilidh |
"Well looking at those dwarf statues i think this must be Naldak's point. Whats through there" She peers to the east (assuming top of the map is north)
Zootloot |
"You guys shouldn't worry about our guide. Everyone has their little secrets. So far no harm has come to us." Zootloot walks to Lyteonira and looks down the eastward passage. "Yeah, let's go here. This cold is really getting to me. The sooner we can get somewhere warm, the better."
Darak "One Eye" Silverbane |
Darak shrugs and turns to Lytoenira, pointing down the corridor with his drawn axe he shrugs slightly. It is clear he has more questions for their guide, but has decided to ignore the matter for now, shooting her suspicious glances every so often.
"Just a corridor so far as I can see, a fairly long one. May well be rigged with crossbow traps and the like, perfect killing zone." he says proudly.
Starting slowly, the Dwarf begins to move down the eastern corridor, his one eye looking around for signs of traps.

GM Granta |
@Lyteonira: spells recorded.
Nobody detects any traps in the east hallway, which leads to a cylindrical chamber. Thousands of icicles cover the ceiling, and the outside edge forms a perfect circular curve, cutting into stone without mark of chisel or tool, impossibly smooth. Only places where ice flows over the stone, or where the structures have collapsed, mar the perfect precision of the cylinder. The remains of workshops and living spaces, still furnished, pea through holes in the cylindrical void. At the southern and western edges of the cavern, large portions of the stone and ice have collapsed, cutting into the immense void with piles of rubble.
The map isn’t even close to scale. This sphere is HUGE.
When you're ready, please position yourselves on the map and choose the red or blue door.

"B-by the beards of the gods!" he stammers in surprise as his jaw drops wide. "What happened here?!"

Lyteonira - longstrider, magic stone
Uliyara draws a flint and steel, "Gladly. I forgot what the weather can be like for those who aren't used to it."
After warming up, you check the left door and find nothing but an abandoned guard post.
Darak and Zootloot are now warm enough to heal their nonlethal damage. Please place all icons, including Haltani, before we open the blue door.

Zootloot |
Zootloot moves to the edge of the big void. "That is pretty amazing. I wonder what happened here." Then he notices everyone congregating around another door. He moves to where he can see what's happening but is still out of the way.

Lyteonira - longstrider, magic stone
Lyteonira heals some of the nonlethal damage her allies still suffered, while people begin searching. Unfortunately, nobody finds anything of value, danger or interest.
Upon opening the final door, you find a dwarf frozen in solid ice, staring out at you. His clothing and equipment are obviously archaic.
The floor in the room is not icy.
Therrach |
Does any of you have anymore heating, so that we can see if he has the key?
If it is a stove, ore something like that, I move over there to see if I can light a fire.
Zootloot |
Do we have more of those bricks or did we use them all to get into here?
"Wow. Frozen solid?" Zootloot approaches the frozen dwarf and inspects him as closely as the ice will allow.
Knowledge(history): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Have I ever heard of him or recognize anything from the clothing?
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Is he alive still, will he survive thawing?
Darak "One Eye" Silverbane |
Feeling much warmer thanks to the fire, Darak rubs the feelings back into his hands and stamps his feet to get the blood flowing. Following Zoot and Therrach into the room he gives a low sigh. Sticking with Zootloot as the gnome goes to investigate the frozen Dwarf, he bows his head in respect of the dead.
"Now that ain't no way to go." he laments, looking at his ancient kinsman. "Frozen and alone, I wonder who he is?"
