Blue Enemy -16
Garduk the Unteachable |
Fort, Aroden's bonus: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 2 = 21
Garduk the Unteachable |
When the vargouille starts to shriek, Garduk claps his hands over his ears (nearly jabbing himself in the eardrum with his wand). When he realizes the noise is bearable, he cautiously lowers his hands and stalks across the room to stand next to Kiaru.
When he reaches the rogue, he growls "Katoavat näkyvistä!" in his harsh, northern accent. He taps Kiaru on the shoulder, and the elf disappears from sight.
Apparently talking to himself, Garduk mutters, "Now do us all a favor and finish that thing off any way you can."
Garduk cast Vanish, duration is 4 rounds.
Aroden Reincarnated |
Kita, I think that 20 was good enough to hit, but don't forget I am giving a +2 sacred bonus to all within 30'; saves, attacks, and skills.
That now excludes Taman because he moved (after making the save) and Kiaru, but gets everyone else.
GM Ietsuna |
The vargouille falls to the ground with Kita's arrow through it's flesh.
Looking around, while the exhibits are interesting there is nothing much lying around. No loot here, that is
Taman Hornraven |
Taman stops raging.
"Which door first?"
Kita Kyuichi |
Picking up his katana, Kita steps toward the door on the left.
"I believe this was the door to Storage, where Nigel is supposed to be. We should check here first."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
GM Ietsuna |
I assume you are waiting for Taman's fatigue to wear off.
This simple room of unadorned stone is piled floor to ceiling with boxes and crates, allowing room for only a few small corridors between these towers of dusty, mothballed exhibits.
There does not seem to be anyone or any living thing here. You do however think you hear mad cackling coming from the room next door. Consulting your map you see that the room is the bathroom.
Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk scowls at the insane laughter and steps a little closer. "That's never a good sign," he mutters.
Garduk the Unteachable |
GM, did Kita’s arrow take down the vargouille before Garduk cast Vanish on Kiaru?
kiaru |
go to lower room first
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Garduk the Unteachable |
Yes Garduk, save your spell
Thanks.
Taman Hornraven |
Taman enters the Bathroom.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
GM Ietsuna |
Looking through the door you see the room beyond.
These public restrooms seem to be for the use of visiting clientele. Several stalls are here and a huge cesspool below collects offal. Mad laughter echoes in the cramped stone chamber. The stench of sewage battles the cold of the mist, but through the haze can be seen smears of blood across the floor, walls, and ceiling, as well as the doors of several stalls.
GM Ietsuna |
As Hessavi enters the room she sees a corpse over in one of teh corners. It is bloody and battered and clearly dead. She also sees an ape-creature and an enormous crocodile.
They move aggressively toward the group.
Kiaru: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Hessavi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Croc Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The crocodile falls into the 20 foot deep pit.
Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk moves closer to the doorway so he can see into the lavatory; catching a whiff, he immediately regrets it.
I really do not want to go in there. Who can I get instead? He muses on the question for a second or two, but quickly makes up his mind and calls forth an ally from somewhere ... else.
Marty the Mud Elemental |
Something appears suddenly next to Kita and the ape-man, smelling of earth and rot. It forms into a small, vaguely humanoid shape, like a grotesque parody of the simian thing before it.
From the doorway, the elemental hears Garduk growl in Terran, "Неутрализирайте маймуна, но не се опитвайте да го убивате, освен ако това е единственият начин да го спрете да убиете един от другите в стаята!"
The mud creature tosses off a sloppy salute in the general direction of the doorway, spattering Kita with mud and bits of gravel. Then it lurches forward, slamming its entire “body” into the ape-man.
Non-lethal slam!:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
If the elemental hits, the ape-man must make a DC 14 Fortitude save to avoid being entangled in mud.
Taman Hornraven |
I want to kill that monkey so much! Why don't they let me?
Taman goes closer to ape and strikes but he tries not to kill him.

The ape man reaches out and tries to slam Kita.
Slam: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The slam misses and Kita is safe... for now.

GM Ietsuna |
Kita strikes the ape-man and he falls to the floor unconscious. As he hits the ground mist flows from his open mouth and his body returns to its usual, human form. The man lies on the floor unconscious, but breathing.
Kiaru, you can redirect your attack to the rising crocodile if you like/
Taman Hornraven |
Taman waits that the crocodile reaches the ground level.
Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk barks at the mud elemental, "Почакай!", telling it to hold its attack until the crocodile is in reach.
Garduk and Marty delay until the pit expires, and will go after Taman unless that will interfere with someone else's cunning plan.
GM Ietsuna |
The crocodile returns to floor level and Kiaru strikes, dealing a hefty slash to it's flank. Hessavi also dives in but her weapon bounces off the thick hide of the reptilian creature.

GM Ietsuna |
Taman slices deeply into the enemy and it shudders as it collapses.
Combat over
The pudgy, bald human now sits where the ape-man previously was. He fumbles briefly around on the floor before finding a broken set of spectacles. With a sigh of resignation he squints at you all.
My name is Maldroog and I was working here with Nigel. Just before I blacked out I saw a group of mad apes and monkey carry him away. This was just after the mist started to rise in here. You may find me outside, where is it safe. With that he stumbles slightly and walks briskly to the exit.
kiaru |
time to go to big room, should we prepare for a difficult combat
Taman Hornraven |
"Let's go!"
Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk sighs, but nods. "Agreed. Let's get this over with."
This transformative mist is fascinating, but unless we can find the relics that are causing it, we're going to have to fight a never-ending parade of simian former citizens.
Garduk motions for the earth elemental to come along with the group. Before they leave the area, he pulls out his wand of mage armor and casts it on the elemental to increase its defenses.
GM - we can track the time however you think best. Marty's summons will last four minutes from when Garduk activated his spell-like ability at the beginning of the combat.
GM Ietsuna |
lets say it takes you a minute to walk to the door of the large room. You are familiar with the lay-out of the museum by now.
A long hallway leads to this grand hall, wherein the Blakros Museum shows off its finest collections. Mock vines cling to the walls and hang from the fifty-foot-high domed ceiling, and huts of grass are strewn about the open area. At the center of this sprawling chamber, a miniature replica of a traditional Mwangi ziggurat rises out of the mist to a height of nearly twenty feet. At the top of the ziggurat, a rail-thin elven gentleman is strapped to an altar, his bare chest painted with strange sigils and monkey paw-shaped blots of paint.
kiaru |
Kiaru takes a fast check of room searching possible threats
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
GM Ietsuna |
Hessavi and Kiaru see a large gorilla protectively at the foot of the ziggurat. There are also many, many gorillas, apes and monkeys that scatter to the edges of the room a you enter. At the top of the ziggurat they see three small idols.
