I forgot to mention. You each get 3 potions each.
I'm confused. Three each of the ones you listed? So everyone gets six fly potions?

"We have come on behalf of the pathfinder society, bearing the "Book of the Titan", hoping to call upon your expertise... and giant heritage... to decipher its ritual."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas tries to help Davo out. "Out superiors, the Decemvirate, an august and mysterious body that you may have heard of is quite stumped. Even their great learning cannot unmask the mysteries contained within this book. We were hoping that you could help us unravel this tome. Some believe the titans were the ancestors of the giants, is that true?" Diplomacy: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24
LOL!!!
DM Amazing Red |
"Perhaps. However I cannot conduct any ritual while there is someone out there plotting my demise. So if you want me to do this ritual for you, you need to find out who sent a small army of hill giants to kill me and why. In the mean time, I will make repairs on my home and prepare the ritual for when you arrive back. I believe they came from the hills to the north."
Shinkeer Aswander |
Shinkeer begins searching over the giantess and the other giants, looking for clues.

What language is the engraving in?
Pallas Morningstar |
"Hmm, might be good to ask some questions." Pallas walks among the fallen giants to see if any of them are still alive.
Heal check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8 If I find one with a pulse, I will cast CLW on him and bring over a more experienced healer, or someone with a wand of CLW.

I think Davo is suggesting we rest and regain our spell slots and uses/day powers. Unless someone objects, I'll take the potion of cat's grace, one of the fire resistance potions, and the bear's endurance.
Dora D Asplora |
Dora will take the resist fire, displacement and bull strength, if available. She has used of her big spells, but has about half her songs left. She will cure herself with her wand as well (4 chgs) 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (7, 4, 1, 5) + 4 = 21
"So now what? Are we leaving or resting?"
Davoliznakamushka |
"Perhaps we could make a more informed decision if you could tell us who your enemies are, and why you think this is a tribe from the north. How far away are these hills? It is clear from this sword's inscription someone with a particular hatred for you organized this assault. There must be something you can tell us. "

"The closest tribe of Hill Giants are north of here. I honestly do not know who would want me dead."
There is a tribe of Hill Giants somewhere north. The lands are also the hunting grounds of another creature. A legendary Linnorm patrols it for food and fools, often the latter becoming the former.
Davoliznakamushka |
*clearear, not clearvar.
"Also, I do recall a recent tale of a mighty Linnorm eating travelers in the hills to the north. As I am not particularly fond of being eaten, I suggest finding a way around the hills; else, we find a way to defeat or bribe the beast."
Dora D Asplora |
"Wow, I always wanted to see a Linnorm...except not from the inside. My last mission, one of our team was able to see the inside of a t-rex, but it was not as fun as it sounds. And he was covered in goo. Yep, definitely better to remain outside of creatures rather than within."
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas turns to the giant, "You're not by any chance sitting on a flying carpet, are you?"
Pallas Morningstar |
"You should really get one of the carpets from the House of Ibizz of Zelshabbar. They make the best in the Empire of Kelesh. Even the flying dragoons of Tirakawhan use them when their pegasi are sick."

In the distance is a dark shape above the horizon. It is serpentine and winds its way across the sky, wingless. It must be close to sixty feet long, with grayish-brown flesh like the rocky crags all around it. The creature has a massive reptilian head with black, angular horns and a single pair of claws. Scales like crusty armored plates cover its body. Most of the beast appears to be a long tail that ends in three spiky tendrils.
This is a Crag Linnorm. It is a very powerful dragon who hunts once a day for its meal. But you also know that it does not hunt far from its lair/hoard.
Everyone except for Brom spotted it before it spotted you. So you can avoid it or set up an ambush for it.
Davoliznakamushka |
Same day?
Davo shrinks back and whispers.
"That is a crag linnorm, out for its daily hunt; its lair will be close-by."
He looks nervously at his companions.
Lore Master, 2nd use, K(arcana)(?) 44 (or 40 if not "adventuring hours") - defenses and special attacks
DM Amazing Red |
Same day. 6 hours from when you left the castle.
It has regeneration and DR that is only bypassed by Cold Iron. It is immune to curse effects, fire, paralysis, poison, sleep and all mind affecting effects. It has a permanent freedom of movement effect that is not dispellable and has Spell Resistance. In addition to it's natural attacks, it has a magma breath weapon that can inflict damage twice and inflicts a powerful poison with its bite. And if you do slay it, the one who deals the killing blow may be inflicted with a curse.
Davoliznakamushka |
The gnome professor pulls out Barlowe's Guide to Dracoforms and quotes from it:
The crag linnorm has regeneration and resistance to weapon damage that is only bypassed by Cold Iron. It is immune to curse effects, fire, paralysis, poison, sleep and all mind affecting effects. It has a permanent freedom of movement effect that is not dispellable and is resistant to spells. In addition to it's natural attacks, it has a magma breath weapon that can inflict damage twice and inflicts a powerful poison with its bite. And if you do slay it, the one who deals the killing blow may be inflicted with a curse.
Shinkeer Aswander |
Shin shakes his head as he listens to Davo. "It does not sound like a creature we want to meet head on." He whispers.
Davoliznakamushka |
Davoliznakamushka palms a protective potion of fire and a wand of expeditious retreat, ready to apply either. "So let us concentrate on evading the creature then, if we are not going to fight. We could track the creature to its lair later, if we are feeling particularly brave."
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas shakes his head. "I do not consider myself a big game hunter, and I gather these creatures are intelligent? Well, not dragon-intelligent, but at least smarter than your average dire bear. I say we avoid it, since it is not part of our bargain with the giant. I say we hide, and if that's not good enough we go invisible. And if that isn't enough, I can cast dimension door three times today. Each casting will take all of us up to 540 feet away, or so I have been told; I haven't tested the extreme yet myself to be honest."
Dora D Asplora |
Dora will watch it briefly in wide wonder before urging Rusty to move them out of line of sight.
"Wow, that thing is enormous even at this distance. I cannot wait to write in my journal...'today I saw a Crag Linnorm'. I hear some dragons can see invisible creatures. I am not sure if that applies here. I am sure the professor would have told us if it did. "
Dora D Asplora |
Dora has no idea. She just remembered a dragon in Goka that saw right past her party's invisibility. So mentioned it at Pallas's suggestion, not knowing if linnorms were similar to other dragons.
"Well, it sounds unpleasant to meet up close. We may want to circumnavigate from a distance, assuming the terrain will allow us the long road around. We are not well prepared for its form of aerial combat in my estimation."
DM Amazing Red |
By avoiding wide open spaces, the party easily avoids an encounter with a Linnorm. The rest of the day passes uneventfully. Early on the 2nd day you come upon a camp with what seem to be refugees. "Are you lot adventurers? Come join us for breakfast. What are you lot doing out here? "
Shinkeer Aswander |
Shin smiles and pats his stomach. "Greetings, you might say we are the adventuring type, who might you be?"
