Overseer Announcement
********************************
GM Silbeg |
Marcos Farabellus makes rounds on the grounds and gathers all Pathfinder teams to him, calling for silence while he relays new information.
“Pathfinders, we have determined the nature of the threat which confronts us! As many of you have already ascertained, a number of Aspis Consortium agents remained trapped in the Hao Jin Tapestry after we captured their back door into it. To our surprise and regret, there remained a means to communicate with the outside world and the serpents have been conspiring. This raid is comprised of two different Consortium groups coordinating in a two-pronged attack. They are aided by creatures from within the tapestry, whom they have deceived about our goals and intentions.
“At this time, we’re still unsure about what is making Skyreach’s tower hover, but we know for certain that someone has activated the Hao Jin Tapestry. Normally the Master of Spells Aram Zey would be the one to troubleshoot this kind of problem, but he is nowhere to be found. We don’t have time to wait for him, and he may be in danger. I’m sending you in as search parties and giving you temporary clearance to travel into the restricted sections of lower and middle Skyreach. Check on the Sky Key and the archives while you’re there. Zey may have left notes around that could tell us how to shut down the tapestry.
“We must act with the utmost haste. I believe the Consortium’s plan has backfired on them, but there’s no telling how long before they regroup or, worse still, somehow make the situation worse.”
Gunari Maximoff |
See slide #6 for the map of Skyreach
"Thank you, Pip, but I am quite healed already. I will try and remember to tell Finarin that, when I get the chance, Durothil. We're supposed to head to Bloodcove as soon as this mess is over... but he's right over there... Why don't you talk to him?"
After the announcement
"Supposedly, there should be three places that you will want to check out. First, there is the restricted library, where you might find Aram Zey's notes. You probably also want to check out the Chamber of the Sky Key, to make sure that our artifact is ok. Finally, you might want to visit the Tapestry room, to see if you can repair it. Where would you like to go?"
Pip the fated |
Pip raises both her eyebrows at Farabellus' explanation. "Oh, boy. The Tapestry? That's not good. They managed to evade all of our defenses, by attacking from within?"
She gives Rravn an incredulous stare at his excitement, then notices that Brokhan is already running and starts after her. "Wait! We'll have to do the library first. We need Zey's notes to know what's going on, before we even try to get to it. Rravn, didn't you hear something about the chamber in which they're holding it?"
If it's possible, Pip would like to cast expeditious retreat once they enter the Library proper. Its duration is only 4 minutes, though, so I'm not sure whether she would be able to time it right.
GM Silbeg |
Ok, with the above responses, I am going with the library first
It takes ten minutes to find your way down to the Restricted Library. Once down, near there, Pip casts his spell, and you all move in.
Twelve bookcases line the walls of this cozy lounge room. Their shelves are crammed with books, scroll tubes, and tablets. Comfortable furnishings are arrayed so that scholars may examine the works without needing to remove them from the room. It may be here that Aram Zey hid his notes about the Hao Jin Tapestry. Inside the room, you see three individuals. Two look like strapping Ulfen lads, and one is a half-elf in robes. The the half-elf is definitely searching, while the Ulfens are apparently keeping their eyes open for Pathfinders. You realize that as they both say, "Mario! Pathfinders are here!" The half-elf looks up from his rummaging, to engage the party. Of note, he is hovering 10 feet up, looking through the higher stacks, just out of reach of reach weapons!

"Well, that's no surprise," says Pip when they notice the intruders in the library. "You've done enough damage in here. Drop that and surrender, or you'll be killed. I warn you, we have little patience left!"
With the speed afforded by the spell she has cast Pip deftly weaves her way between the furnishings in the room and the pair of Ulfen. She's in his back before he has a chance to react. "You'll be sorry you signed up with the Aspis!" With that, she grabs her sword in both hands for a mighty swing.

GM Silbeg |
Durothil groans as he slips on something as he swings, but his blow still lands true, dropping the ulfen.
As the team looks more closely at the sorcerer, you notice there are four of him. He casts a spell, and a sickly green blob fires from his fingers towards Lady BroKhan. The acid strikes here, and continues to burn. He then levitates to the ceiling, which is twenty feet high. (He is in the 4th square, vertically)

"Draw your bows, gentlemen! This sorcerer thinks he's a bird, so let us shoot him down like a duck."
Not a master marksman herself, Drusilla still thinks she can help by shooting down those illusory doubles. Thus she reaches into her purse and draws up a light crossbow. As always, her best contribution is still to tell the others to shoot.

Trying to catch up on posts and work. I'll take one of the CMW potions we found earlier if still available. Thanks for botting me. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Taking her time to load a bolt into the crossbow, Drusilla wonders if she actually has ever used the weapon before. Either way, this is as good time as any for a trial. She takes aim at the flying spellcaster, and pulls the trigger. At least the bolt started ti's flight in the right general direction.

Sorry Silbeg, for not rolling the damage. I forgot it when I made that quick post on my phone last night. I'll try to remember next time.

Rravn's eyes turn from the previous hodgepodge of colors into a deep red. His voice resembles one of a northern brute, a barbarian from a frozen wasteland. "YOU OVERGROWN IMBECILE! ARE YOU WITH THE ASPIS NOW?! WE COULD ABANDON THE LIBRARY NOW! THERE WILL BE NO NOTES TO SPARE!" As the tengu rants loudly, his grip of the falcata tightens and he turns towards the sorcerer.
