G, as he briefly names himself to give it a try, is not used to acting in a team. He's not sure if he likes how these agents keep calling Z by his initial, at least he thinks it is jut an initial, and he's certainly not sure he want's to be called G by anyone, but it does kind of work when he tries it mentally. And in an emergency situation it makes sense to shorten a name to improve response time. But why aren't the others called by their initials too? And why bother out of combat? And these plans of theirs are quite confusing. He's relatively sure some of the comments are jokes, or insults, he's not sure which (like that one about tying each other up, or wanting to get hit by a fireball), which seems like a waste of time and even counterproductive, and hellashishly confusing!

What he gets out of their plan: get away from them as fast as possible so he doesn't get caught up in whatever mess it is they get into. They will probably still be jabbering when the door opens.

I'm going to assume that means that she checked for traps. If Z would open the door, I might be able to do a 150' move and then breathe from above, catching them in a group. From my calculations if I breath from 20' up it should produce a 20' radius splash. Unless it has low ceilings, then I'm going to have to slither and crawl.

That means she has Trapspotter, and she didn't notice anything with her passive ability.

As Zurnzal and Gazwyr look at the door, Gazwyr notices something a little odd. There seems to be something a little funky with the mail slot on the door. It doesn't look seem to be sitting quite right.

Like it has lower back pain?

Screw it. While all the other players are asleep in Sioux City Iowa, Z turns the handle unbarring the door, but not quite opening it. Then he twists his pre-invasion purchase around his wrists behind his back in what he imagines is a convincing enough imitation of bindings and then shoves the door open with his shoulder.

There I did it, and I'm glad.

Gazwir calls Shihoraj to the door, as Zurnzal reaches out and opens it. A small note card falls to the ground from the other side of the door and onto the floor. Zurnzal cannot tell what the card says, for it has fallen face down. 322 notices that an additional magic aura now exists on this size of the door.

Dark Archive

Fury's Toll | MotD

Rataji would need to cast detect magic and observe the note for 3 rounds to get a spellcraft check. Since you rolled, I am assuming that the door has been quickly shut once more, and you are trying to determine what the note is.

Rataji takes some time, after getting Zurnzal to close the door once more. Given this time, he has determined that they are quite lucky, as the note has the aura of explosive runes. Had it fallen the other way, and someone saw the rune that must be inscribed on the other side, it would have exploded. He does know that they can be destroyed with dispel magic or erase, but failing to dispel will set off the explosion of force.

322 spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
322 cannot confirm this, however.

Door is closed... or barely cracked. Zurnzal did see light from the other side... it is apparently well lit in there.

What magical aura?

Also, 322 will back away from the party 30 ft then try to identify spell on door.

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Gallows of Madness |Midnight Marauder

The aura is on the card, not the door. That's what your spellcraft was for.

While the door is open, 322 and Rataji can sense overwhelmingly powerful magic now coming from the room.

Jack, so long as none of us reads the note, we're safe from the runes, right? Rataji would know this, even if I don't.

Zurnzal throws open the door once more, and bright light spills out from the room. This tall library is ringed by a walkway around its perimeter, which provides access to a second level of towering bookshelves. A broad Qadiran rug leads to a short pedestal within a tall glass case that itself sits within an inscribed circle—all cordoned off by a velvet rope suspended by brass poles. A strange armillary pulses with energy from atop the pedestal. Several plush chairs and a few low tables bearing curiosities and curios line the lower floor, and two decorative suits of armor stand at attention, each with a crossbow resting against its shoulder. Heatless torches blaze with remarkably even light in sconces throughout the room, and a tall pendulum clock on the eastern wall ticks each passing second.

On the far side of the room, partial concealed by the pedestal and case, stands a Taldan man, casually looking at the bookshelves. At first, he barely seems to acknowledge you all, or that the door has been opened. "Well, it is about time," he snarls. "I don't know why you fools have even bothered. I've heard your babbling, and I honestly think that my first year students show more sense than you all put together, and if you've ever dealt with Pathfinders you know how pathetic that truly is. Just surrender now and spare me the effort of subduing you fools!"

He then turns back to the bookshelf, making an effort of obviously ignoring you.
