Assuming Hydraulic Push works with such a nice roll. If I'm mistaken and can't do this, I'll just get as close as I can without provoking attacks of opportunity after starting the song.

Atronia tightens her grip as she starts yet another song, this time about sunlight blasting away the terrors that dwell in the night and people pouring into the streets with renewed courage and vigor. As she sings this, she makes her way past Erhun's paralyzed form to try and put herself between the ghoul and its first prey.

Inspired rage again, for anyone who might like it. As usual, my boosted stats are in parenthesis.

Erhun's muscles seize up, like a statue with a heartbeat. A retaliatory strike from Etienne slices a surprisingly deep wound into its face. In a papery-thin, ragged voice, the ghoul responds to Arrius' goading. "Ghoulbane, you say? I relish the opportunity to sever that title from your mortal coil!" It is about to speak again, but a sudden geyser of water smothers his speech and knocks him backwards as his flailing arms try to shield him from the intrusion. The force of Callah's torrential blast knocks it into the bookshelf behind it, scattering aged tomes across the floor. Trying to keep the ghoul off of her vulnerable companion's throat, Atronia boldly steps forward, weapon drawn and singing the ghoul's call for doom.

With a snarl the Devourer disgorges water from its mouth and rakes its claws across Atronia's arms in defiance. "YOU WILL ONLY KNOW THE HOPELESS CONSUMPTION OF THE VOID, WORM!"

Etienne, since Erhun is paralyzed, the ghoul wouldn't have been in melee so you only took a cover penalty (and you still hit). I also 5ft step you forward, the web would have prevented you from seeing the ghoul from your original position.

Surprised to hear a ghoul speak so eloquently, Etienne wonders if he might be more susceptible to his particular charms, so to speak, than the average undead. He cocks an eyebrow at the ghoul, leaving the clever quips for Arrius' keen wit.

Fort save 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Fort save 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

I'm not sure how this would work considering it's me getting paralyzed. Does it take enough time to take effect for me to use Saving finale to reroll the save? I don't think it would, but just in case, I'll roll it below. That would also make my second save 1 lower, since it would end my performance.

Saving finale reroll?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

If this somehow works, I'll hit the ghoul with my sword. Here are the rolls for that too.

Etienne reaches out with his mind to jab at the ghoul, yet despite its display of intellect, his efforts are blocked by a dark miasma. In an impressive display of willpower, Erhun's pure rage commands his stiff muscles to move again and is eager to rip the Devourer to pieces. Meanwhile, Arrius does his best to help Atronia fend off her paralysis.

"HA-HA-HA-HAAAAA! Yes, Ghoulbane, come to me and we shall see who is the better!" he goads while trying to sink his teeth and claws into Erhun again. His needling costs him, however, as he barely manages to scratch the dangerous man with his talons.

Etienne breathes a sigh of relief as the ghoul falls and taps Erhun with the wand charge he'd been holding. 9 HP from above roll

Etienne would not be one to rifle through the ghoul's belongings, being too squemish, but once someone retrieves the case, he'd cast detect magic on it.

That was . . . bracing. An affray that truly I shall never forget, and proof positive that only by acting in concert can our most difficult obstacles be overcome. As for yonder scroll case, perhaps Nigel Aldain will recognize its provenance?

"I'm fine...I'm just glad that the rest of you seem to be fine as well, if a little worse for the wear," Callah gasps, leaning against the nearby wall. "At least, I hope everyone feels fine. If not, we should get your wounds seen about."

Nodding at Arrius, she adds, "And I agree, we should probably take the scroll case back to Master Aldain since there seems to be no way to open it ourselves. But before we go, we should make sure that we've found everything here that there is to be found - because I don't believe I want to visit this place again anytime soon!"

Searching the vault, you find a vast collection of historical works that may prove valuable to the Society. Additionally, you find a small cache of more immediately useful items that the magically inclined contingent of your party are able to discern: a potion of invisibility, a scroll of web, and a wand of burning hands (16 charges).

Heading back to the Museum, Nigel Aldain somehow manages to find you before you find him. "Back so soon?! Have you concluded your business then? Tell me, what happened! Is it safe to roam the streets again?!"

Sword back in its scabbard, Atronia spends most of the walk back to the museum rubbing her arms and shoulders, trying to get rid of the strange stiffness that won't seem to go away and thinking she might be imagining him because being fully paralyzed was most unpleasant, but she keeps it up, worried that she might be overlooking something otherwise.

When Nigel meets them in the street, she grimaces. "It certainly didn't feel so quick to us. You ought to be more careful about the things you keep in that museum of yours. But yes, the ghoul is dead. That threat is gone." After that she is uncharacteristically quiet as she lets the others fill him in while she keeps massaging her neck and looking around warily.

"We tracked it to the Tower of the Horn, or what was left of it," Callah explains. "It took some doing but after we defeated it we found this scroll case...no real apparent way to open it though," she continues as she offers the case to Nigel. "Maybe you have an idea?"

"It remains unclear, to me at least, if this scroll case is what triggered the grisly events in your museum, or if it was what the 'Devourer' was seeking in the Tower of the Horn."

"Aye, through a glass darkly do we perceive the causal chain. Nonetheless, the urgent danger has been suppressed and poor Anumet's killer faced its just desserts." Arrius holds up Anumet's Wayfinder and gazes at it sadly. "Memento mori, some ancients called it. The reminder that we, too, shall die. Yet what if death be but the beginning? Much I wish to ponder when our day's deeds be complete."

When the scroll case is offered, Nigel quickly plucks it from your hands. "...this..." he spins on his heels and beelines it for a set of stairs. As an afterthought, he waves you towards him without slowing his gait.

After a series of stairs descending into a lower level turn from wood to carved stone, you are in a large catacomb area. Nigel moves off to the side of the room and touches several points in the wall, causing it to open wide and reveal a narrow passage. At the passage’s end stands a gleaming doorway, copper in color, inlaid with malachite, and covered with intricate arabesques. No obvious handle or lock is visible.

“This was discovered a couple days ago when the museum’s workmen were clearing the basement levels out to store more of the Blakros family’s treasures. Its bizarre decorations make my stomach churn just looking at them," he explains. Looking at the door, you do feel the unmistakable sensation of movement, although the designs on the door remain stationary. "I don't know what this case will do, but further study is warranted. Thank you for your work here today, I shall include your names in my monthly bill to the Society so you can get your payment."
