In fact, given that each carpet has its own aura, and each carpet has its own command words, I should allow for 5 spellcraft checks for the casters. Any successes identify command words that any of you can use.
In addition, for any "unidentified" carpets the four of you trained in UMD can attempt to blindly activate each of them.
With 3 of you trained in spellcraft, and 4 of you in UMD, hopefully we can get you all moving!

At tier 7-11 I'd consider the resto scroll cheap, so feel free to use it if it has even a chance of getting us a leg up on what's going on in here. Besides, I'm clearly not holding up my end of the costs on healing having drained my wand last adventure and forgotten to get a new one.
The only reason I'd consider holding onto the scroll is if we think there's a good chance we'll be needing it for ourselves, but I've got 2 of em and we have little reason to believe a group of specters is chilling in here. At least I really hope there isn't... I hate specters. And wights. Especially cairn wights.
In a homebrew game I gave a cairn wight class levels in swashbuckler for an 'On Stranger Tides' themed adventure and immediately regretted it.

By the gods!! You must have being drunk or something. Giving anything like wights swashbuckler levels means you hate the party lol.
Korai Shardwing |
In my defense, I was still under the mistaken assumption that you got a fort save to avoid getting the negative levels. They were level 7 so I figured that 1 scroll of restoration (which they had) would eliminate the worst of the results. As soon as the encounter started and I was informed of my errant assumption about energy drain I regretted my decision.
I have heard of worse though... I have heard of someone giving Specters spring attack and having them fight in a set of narrow corridors.

Sad to be fighting a Rogue's greatest weakness, even after unchained: Yes
I played this scenario with the iconic ninja. It was pretty rough in places. The naga dropped me below zero hp twice.
Korai Shardwing |
At least with the Naga, feint is a viable strategy. With elementals it's 'death by 1000 papercuts.'
Although with the iconic ninja it's 'RUN AWAY.'
Admittedly at this point, Korai's next action is withdraw.

I'm going to be travelling tomorrow (Friday) and away over the Easter weekend. I expect to have wi-fi, but my posting rate may be reduced until I am home on Monday night.
Wembly Templeton |
Ditto here...my driving is half done...but posting tomorrow and Easter will be limited. Happy Easter and April Fools and Passover as well. :)
The Magnificant Paicho of Quain |
Happy Easter! Passover and April Fools too!
GM supervillan |
Hi folks, been travelling all day. Will get a gameplay post up in the morning (GMT +1).
GM supervillan |
Have a face to face game this evening. Will get a post up in gameplay afterwards.
Gratus if you can post please do, otherwise I'll bot.
GM supervillan |
It is an Outpost game.
Boon rolls (a boon is awarded on a 1 or a 20)
Paicho: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Korai: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Wembly: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Rocky: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Gratus: 1d20 ⇒ 4
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Alas, no boons at our table.
GM supervillan |
Well, I think I was pretty useless in that one... At least the fear worked once.
It may only have worked once, but that once prevented a full attack from Moukadeem :)
Korai Shardwing |
That's 2 games completed with rather frightening final encounters. Just wrapped up the last encounter of Solstice Scar B at my table. GM, believe you're playing at a table with a friend of mine playing Watts Helm.
GM supervillan |
I am indeed! Our table has three tengu. Watts, Wei Ji's paladin Andrietta, and my own hunter Tooth and Claw. It's nice to see plenty of tengu in action. I rarely see any in face to face games.
The marid does have a scary full attack, especially when Zahra has buffed him with heroism and haste.
Korai Shardwing |
Watts is in my face to face group. There is also a Tengu Medium named Quoth, although that player hasn't been using Quoth very often. Watts I've seen in action starting from level 1, and I think the last time I played with him was for the Cosmic Captive, where he got to use his absurd linguistics skill in the final encounter. Definitely my favorite character from that player. I ended up making a Ratfolk investigator because of him.
GM supervillan |
Investigator is a really impressive class in the hands of a player who knows what they're doing. I've played with a few, but haven't made one myself yet.
GM supervillan |
Congrats on a fully successful mission folks!
I should have chronicles done by the end of the week.
I won't be able to post again till tomorrow, but feel free to continue rp.
I welcome feedback, in the discussion thread or via pm.
Rocky the Oread |
My main complaint was that we seemed to be spending a lot of time and effort on a minor boon but I didn't realize curing her was our second PP.
I think when I played this in Core the GM either handwaved it or we just discussed it for a few moments and split the cost of a Restoration spell.
And I guess Gratus has to explicitly list diamond dust in his gear.
The Magnificant Paicho of Quain |
Actually I appreciate the gentle prodding to follow through, I've had GMs not do that and then say, we'll you didn't earn the 2nd prestige. Which is fair, but everybody wants to succeed, so it's nice when the GM leads the action a little when it's clear the party is not maybe getting the importance of something.
Overall, I had a enjoyable time! Easy to see why this is a favorite for you Supervillan. Also, great GMing and good company -- thanks Supervillan and my fellow Pathfinders!
Looks like Aston Villa will need to win the Championship play-offs to make it back to the Premier League. I wish then luck. As a American soccer nut, the Championship playoffs are one of my favorite things every year, so much on the line. Usually great games!
As for my Hotspurs, I'm hoping they are lifting the FA Cup in a little over a month!
Gratus Leogil |
This is actually Gratus first time playing as a non tank and DPS and thus never had diamond dust listed in my gear as I've never had to cast it before.
Thank you for the game and also allowing me to further explore Gratus.
Rocky hits really hard.
Paicho and Korai are two entertaining birds with excellent skill sets.
Ermm I'm not too familar with Summoners so I can guess that Wembly's summons saved us from drowning?
Korai Shardwing |
I had a great time with this scenario and I hope to play with all of you again at some point in the future!
GM Supervillain: Admittedly I haven't recruited for a game recently, but as a policy I recruit by lottery but give my prior GMs a chance to bypass said lottery once per GM session.
Wembly Templeton |
Well done all. Really enjoyed this although fight with marid had me worried a bit- but being worried usually makes it more memorable
GM supervillan |
You have certainly visited Katheer and adventured in Qadira.
When I played this scenario I had the same idea as Paicho - try to get the genie back inside the lamp. But by the time I could reach the lamp (I was at the back of the line) the marid had already gone down to a barbarian crit and Seoni scorching rays. If I remember correctly, we had our sylph druid clear the obscuring mist away. As it turns out, the lamp's magic is spent anyway.
I've learned a bit from this game - obscure insanity rules, and the effectiveness of unchained monks for example :) Some aspects of the scenario would be much easier to deal with face to face.
Paicho, I think the Villa are in for a tough play-off! Can't see us finishing in 2nd place, and the likely play-off teams are all pretty strong.
ETA: I have reported the game. Chronicles will follow in a day or three.
GM supervillan |
Let me know if there are any issues with them.
It was a pleasure gaming with you - I hope to see you around Flaxseed again!
Rocky the Oread |
You added the gold earned minus the dust into the gold total. That blocks us from filling in item purchases. Just put the diamond dust in the items bought section.
GM supervillan |
I haven't changed anyone else's chronicles, but if your preference is the same as Rocky's just let me know and I'll do so.
I personally don't fill purchases in on the chronicle sheets for my characters, there usually isn't room on the later season sheets. I just use the ITS. From time to time I do a self-audit and I keep a master spreadsheet.
The Magnificant Paicho of Quain |
Looks great -- thanks again!
GM supervillan |
Apologies for the error - I'm much more used to the later version of the chronicle sheet.
Korai Shardwing |
Thanks! I gotta say, the best kinda final encounter is when everyone is at serious risk of death but the scrappy heroes pull through to save the day! Wait... the GM is a supervillain... hmmmm.....
Gratus Leogil |
shhhh
DOn't remind him.....
