I'm working on a wizard. The armor requirement sucks for an arcane caster.

Peri-blooded aasimar with a penchant for purifying the guilty with the flames of justice.

Not sure if I want to go LE or stick with LN though. I'll know more by the time I get more of the crunch completed.

It does really suck that to play as a wizard I have to either loose a caster level or burn most of the feats. While a divine caster can walk right in.

I just saw this. Interested. Thinking of an Angel- or Archon- Blooded Aasimar Purifier Oracle.

EDIT: I noticed you said we need to get into the HK prestige ASAP. Are we allowed to drop back into our original class for a level? Oracle gets 3rd level spells at 6th, but there's a neat little revelation the Purifier gets at 7th that I'd like to grab. Alternatively are we allowed to deliberately avoid taking a last skill point required for entry until 7th level and then slide in at 8th? That being said, the HKSig gets a kind of armor training at 3rd, so it might not matter as much.


The GM changed the limit to level 8, so you have 7 levels to work your way to the prestige class. >I think< at least for the Hellknight. Anyway you can take more oracle levels after the 2 obligatory Hellknight/Signifier levels.


Per soldier 1st, as log as you hit hellknight at level 8 or earlier that's fine. You can delay skills or take them and just wait to take the first hellknight level.

Having a glance at the combats, is it true that the casters don't get any prep time (to cast protection/buff spells and the like)?


Dark Netwerk - As they said, so long as you take a level of Hellknight by 8 you're good. And you can attempt to pre-buff, but you'll be dispelled upon entering the Pit, and it's fairly unlikely that you'll keep anything.

Also: I do realize that this seems somewhat stacked against casters, but I'm trying to recreate the Hellknight mindset as well. And trust me when I say that once the game starts the extra tankiness will come in handy =P You won't be a "fully optimized" caster, but you'll be much more capable of dealing with surprises.

No, it's the same thing (or should be), but the pfsrd can't do copyrighted stuff, so they had to change the name.

Orth Maul - I'd like to see a slightly more fleshed out backstory than that. You're a bow wielding orc attempting to join a group that is primarily magic using humans. There's gonna have to be some sort of story there. I want to see that story.

Maeve - For the most part it looks (very!) good, but I'm confused about a few aspects. Your bab doesn't seem to be correct, you seem to have a -1 modifier on your cmb/cmd, I can't get your stats to add up right, and your spells per day are off. Please double check those (and correct me if I'm wrong, which is not at all unlikely).

Kayle - Why do you have a +2 save vs fire effects? Other than that it looks good.

To everybody, sorry for not posting any today, I had a surprise guest that took up my precious free time. I should be back on schedule tomorrow (though of course in my experience nobody but me posts on weekends anyway, soooo.... =P)

Brazen angelic flesh feat for aasiamar gives fire resistance and saves vs fire bonus. I am going to tidy up character sheet some more and figure out languages when I get back from work.


Fixed the BAB and corrected the CHA score, double checked spells per day, and I have them correct.

Wizard 4 gets 4/3/2, add 0/1/1 for Int 18, and 0/1/1 for arcane school for a total of 4/5/4.

Story stuff:
Ryzel's human mother, a Chelish woman of minor nobility, had a secret: a long-standing tryst with a wandering elf minstrel. On the pretext of picnics, hunts, and other such things, the young woman often stole away to snatch a few hours with her beloved in the forests of the Whispering Wood. One such idyllic day was interrupted when the twisted fey of the wood decided to torment the young couple, and attacked. Both the lovers were badly injured; it's probably they would both have died, if not for interference from a perhaps-unlikely source: a contingent of Hellknights, patrolling the forest for their own reasons.

The Hellknights quickly destroyed the minor threat of the fey, healed Ryzel, and insisted that the young woman be returned to her family rather than left in the company of some nobody elf. For Ryzel's mother, it was... literally... a religious experience: she'd flirted with other faiths, but the knowledge that the Hellknights had saved her put her back on the straight-and-narrow (so to speak, if by straight-and-narrow you mean 'the road to Hell'). She threw herself intently into the family worship of Asmodeus, going beyond the usual lip-service and into true fervor.

The captain of the Hellknights who had saved her took an interest in her, as well-- a match her family approved of MUCH more than they had the elf-- and Ryzel's mother was quite prepared for this new chapter in her life, leaving memories of her elven paramour behind.

Unfortunately for her, she was pregnant with the child of the elf.

Worried that the revelation would cause her Hellknight suitor to break things off, Ryzel's mother did everything in her power to hide her state of pregnancy, but as months ticked by and her belly began to swell, she became desperate. She prayed to the Father of Lies to fix the problem-- rid her of the baby-- anything-- so that her life could proceed on its rosy course.

Asmodeus answered.

Devils promised the woman that the child would not be a problem: that it would be made clear to the Hellknight that this pregnancy had the blessing of Hell, and that he should go ahead and marry her regardless. In return, however, Asmodeus claimed the child: the baby would be dedicated to his service, consecrated as a warrior for Hell. Ryzel's mother eagerly agreed, and several months later, Ryzel's mother was married to the Hellknight... and Ryzel was born.

True to her words, Ryzel's mother had the infant baptized by clerics of Asmodeus, her soul promised to the Dark Prince. As she grew, Ryzel displayed a fierce temper and a strikingly forceful personality.

The Hellknight, honoring whatever instructions devils had given to him, dutifully raised and provided for Ryzel, treating her as his own daughter and training her in the use of a blade. But Ryzel showed other gifts as well-- an inherited penchant for song. But where her biological father had sung of pleasant things like springtime and love, Ryzel sang of conquest, glory, and the power of Hell.

From birth, Ryzel has been raised in immersion to the worship of Asmodeus. She is fanatically devoted to House Thrune and dreams of becoming a Hellknight like her 'father'. She will do what she must to pursue this course, and longs to distinguish herself before House Thrune. In the meantime, she has attracted many eyes in Egorian as somebody with.... potential; she has patrons eager to see her succeed.

Here you go! I need to doublecheck some of the costs of her gear stuff (I use Hero Lab and there's no simple way to adjust for the cost of the 'freebie' gear bonuses, so I'll go over them manually at some point just to be sure, but I think these figures are correct), but I think everything else should be correct. Let me know if I've missed anything.

As a bard, she won't get 3rd level spells until level 7, but if I'm understanding it right, that still works out since she can enter Signifier at level 8.

Mwiba - Interesting backstory, glad someone picked one of the elemental races, really wanted to see that. On your page it says your a fighter 4 hellknight 1, which is not the case. Please change it to fighter 5 or whatever. Also: you have Restovi as one of your languages. Restov is in Brevoy, who's primary languages are Taldane, Draconic, Hallit, Skald, and Varisian. You can pick any of those as your Common substitute.

Ivari - Yay Paladin! I was wondering if I was going to see one. Of course, due to the nature of the Hellknights, you're going to have to be extremely diligent in your rp, as I will not let things slide for you as I would others. That being said, I am extremely pleased somebody took on the challenge, and am really hoping you make it! As part of the extra requirements of being a paladin, I'm going to need you to write up a code/oath of paladinship (It's good that you took the Oath of Vengeance, as that and the Oath of Order are pretty much the only ways a pally can really do Hellknight). This code must obviously not conflict with the Hellknight code (Adventure Path #28, The Infernal Syndrome, pg. 72-73). (If you need a copy I'll be willing to help you out)

You may or may not notice a distressing lack of full casters. There have been complaints that it is weighted against casters. This is not entirely untrue, but I can assure you that it is still extremely possible (I successfully ran through this with over 20 different builds, so I know you can do it too!)

Also: should a sorc/wiz make it through they will be just as disproportionately rewarded. So test your mettle and see if you can make it! Just over two hours left to submit!

Ok. Gotta be lawful for one. Also gonna need two ranks in Knowledge Planes and gonna need heavy armor proficiency. The latter two you can still get before level 8, but you need to change your alignment at the very least.
