Elise cuts and stabs at the soldier, her knife more fluid in her hand than the rifle. After his failed attack earlier, his defenses are slower and she jams the blade under his chest armor and into his gut. His eyes go wide and it looks as if he is about to say something, but instead only blood pours out of his mouth.... Elise's charges look up at her and then back at the body before standing and starting to run down the stairs..

Smith reloads his AK-47 with a fresh magazine and runs towards the troop truck as Macomb runs back towards the van. Majors looks at him quizzically from inside the van.

Skipping ahead a couple of minutes of combat time to the next fight...

Smith finishes disabling the troop transport and rushes inside to catch two pairs of boots heading up stairs in a hurry. Following after them, he is about twenty feet away from two soldiers and at the other end, about fifty more feet, Elise and a woman and child come down the steps and see the two men running towards them.

As Macomb starts the engine on the van and gets ready to bolt when his team returns, he notices up the street aways, about 100 yards, another troop truck is coming down the road at high speed...

Elise pursues the woman and her daughter, at least they're heading down. hopefully they'll run into Smith and and Macomb before any hostile soldiers.
I think I dropped the rifle, if I can grab it on the way without slowing down I will do (or grab the soldiers rifle), but if not she'll just leave it there. Don't want to let them get too far ahead

On seeing the new set of soldiers, the woman ducks into a side area to avoid being shot. One of them tries anyway and is rewarded with pieces of plaster flying into the hallway.

I think you guys might be confused where you are at. Elise and Smith are already in the hallway with the soldiers and the two refugees. I will allow Elise to state her actions before continuing.

Elise's weapon barks back, its sound even more distinct than that of the Ak-47, two rounds slam into the man, spinning him around and sending him spiraling to the ground. Elise then slips next to the woman and takes cover just as the second one fires at her, the bullets harmlessly whizzing by her. The girl is terrified and covers her head in the middle of the hallway. Her fears don't subside a bit when the other soldier's chest explodes in front of her. She starts screaming. The woman moves to comfort her...

The driver of the the truck floors it, narrowly missing an older woman trying to cross the street out of the way. It comes to a halt in front of the apartment building and troops start getting out of the back. At this moment, Majors hands Mac his weapon. "Good luck, buddy." About that time, Mac sees what must be the squad leader get out of the cab and start barking orders.

The truck is 50 feet from the van and stopped in front of the building.

Smith grabs a Soviet (hat or helmet) puts it atop his head and then yells loud enough to be heard outside, all the while setting up right next to the door. "

Smith to do a 3-round burst you only need the first attack roll. Which was an awesome 29. The 2nd and 3rd damage rolls apply if you beat the defense by 5 and then by 10. In this case I would bet you hit with all three shots unless the soldier had a defense of 20. Page 355 of my book if you wanted to reference it.

I've been using the first shot and you've been doing just fine as you can tell with all the Soviet letters to the family being written... Mac swerves around a bend and the truck tries to compensate but can't and has to slow. In his rear view mirror he sees the sergeant move the driver over and switch places, stepping on the gas. Majors decides it is too far to make a shot and instead checks his magazine. "Five," is all he says.

The woman exits the building through the side door and takes her girl with her, not realizing or not caring about the danger outside. Elise and Smith sit ready to fire at anyone entering the front door, but at the moment, none do...

Razor laughs as he grips the wheel and weaves the car through the traffic. Before slamming on the accelerator once through a crowded patch.

Smith didn't have time to Ready the shot because he had moved and braced last round. Ready is a Full Round Action, however with this round, moving (entering yet another foot chase by the way) and shooting he has time for.

One of the last rounds of the car chase, Mac caused a lot of stress and ended up taking 3 of the 4 soldiers and the original driver basically out of the fight. That leaves the sergeant and one of the soldiers still combative.

Mac suddenly feels the engine get less responsive as smoke starts pouring from under the hood. He powers through however and loses the truck somewhere behind him. "I think we lost them," Majors says obviously.

At least 5 to 10 at most if you stay put. The AK has a 125ft range increment, max 10. That's 1250 ft. Given cover, etc...

Since the soldiers don't seem to be taking shots at the moment, Carter focusses more on trying to outrun them. keeping an eye for any obstacles to throw in the way.

explanation?:
I will say that the previous round had the soldiers 100 feet in front of Smith per the post above Smith's attack. That's still 1 range increment of the rifle so I think I agree all 3 bullets should hit. I am assume that the soldiers have some DR armor that is why the save was so low and judging by the rolls for damage saves it looks like DR-8. So the second shot hit but the soldiers are wearing some really good armor and it didn't do any damage. That was my reading of what happened.

Macomb shakes his head as he guides the van through a series of turns to begin making his way back to the building.
He would plan on return the opposite way he took off. So if he left to the West he would want to return from the East.

hmm... I will double check the range, but I'm out of town at the moment. Mac has it right so far though in that they started at 100 ft due to the chase and then a round of movement. I had to look again and I see what I did with the 3rd round. I had subtracted the 5 over for the second round rather than just counting it. That's my bad. Oh and pretty close on the DR, it's 7. So...

Elise pours on some speed, but notices she too is getting tired. The soldiers behind her spur her on however. As they run across a street, she notices a car coming and she times her run to get past before the soldiers can get near her. Unfortunately, she times it incorrectly and she is clipped by the car. She stumbles a bit and trips in the street. Several other cars come to a screeching halt around her. The woman and her daughter keep running, barely pausing to look back and then stop in front of Mac's van coming around the corner. Majors jumps out and points his pistol at both of them. "In the van, now." Whether they understood him or not, they quickly comply and he gets back in the van. He points the weapon at Mac and says simply, "Drive."

Elise glances up and sees the two remaining soldiers making their way through the cars to her. Smith can still see them. It appears their cockiness has overcome their smarts as they march right towards Elise.
