After 4 hours, one of the more roguish pirates comes down to see a sparkling clean bilge.
"Well I'll be-" he sputters before running back up not before telling all of you that Mr Plugg wants you topdeck immediately.
Yuki Okano |
"If I don't start getting rich though, I'm going to have find a real job." Yuki adds with a sigh.
As the group is summoned back up to the deck, the oracle puts on the buckler and grabs the handaxe, tendertwigs, and the money, along with the mace. "If you gals want to help me sell it all, pick up some too."
Did they take our armor when they press-ganged us?
Kiana Sunbane |
Kiana lets everyone take whatever they want, and will pick up any remaining items. Then she follows up, keeping her wings pressed tightly against her back.
Once she's up on the deck, she looks around for 'Mr Plugg'. She makes sure she stands upwind of him when she reports to him, so the wonderful aroma of the bilges can fill his nostrils. "Crewoman Kiana, reporting as ordered." She says crisply, a small smile on her lips.
nightdeath |
Yes. They took everything off you.
Mr Plugg glowers at you as you come back up.
"Land has being sighted, You swabs are among the first ones to get aboard the dinghy and go find us a safe harbour."
Malyoxa Zigair |
Malyoxa nods. "Aye, sir."
She thought to ask about their hidden gear, but decided against it. "Can we have a moment to scrounge up some more gear before going ashore?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Yuki Okano |
"Yeah, we'll be much likely to report back if we can have some armor and stuff." Yuki pipes in supportively.
Diplomacy (Aid Another): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
nightdeath |
Mr Plugg smirks. His answer is to be expected though.
"You're just swabbies and new at that. I see that you also have some weapons on you as well. So no."
Kiana Sunbane |
Kiana eyes the dinghy the way most people eye a stinking cess pool. She instead takes two long steps back to the ship's rail, and does a backflip over it. A second later there is a loud splash as she hits the water. The winged woman takes a minute to wash the grime off in the warm ocean water before extending her wings up to swish them through the air a few beats, the water rolling off them like a duck. Then she begins to beat the air above the water, pulling herself up and out of the water.
Fly: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Fly: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Hover DC 15
Once out of the water, she circles the ship a couple of times, stretching her wings while waiting for the others assigned to the trip to board the small boat. She swoops past Ral a couple of times, splattering him with ocean water with a grin.
Yuki Okano |
Yuki gently hops in the dinghy with Maloyxa, distracted somewhat with all of Kiana's flying, "She's lucky. That looks like fun."
Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll be a crew of good-natured guys on that land that'll let us join their crew. Yeah, keep dreaming!
nightdeath |
Ral sputters as the water hits him but he waves good naturely.
The dinghy itself is well maintained and is in a good condition.
I'm gonna need the following:
(1) Survival/Profession (Sailor) to row the dinghy.
(2) Perception to check out for dangers and sights.
(3) Survival to find harbor.
Acrobatics DC 10, Every 5 Above 10 Gives a +2 check to rowing.
Knowledge (Geography)/(Nature) DC 10, Every 5 Above 10 Gives a +2 check to Sighting a harbour.
Profession (Sailer) DC 15, for a flat +5 bonus to the labelled checks.
Tirmariah |
Tirmariah climbs into the dinghy with a look of excitement in her eyes. She had set out to see the world and make her own way in it. Finally, they were doing something fun!
Profession (sailor pirate): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Survival: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Profession (sailor pirate): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Kiana Sunbane |
Profession(Sailor): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 5 = 25 Plus any bonus for eagle view of area rather than surface view
Survival untrained: 1d20 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 5 = 10 Plus any bonus for eagle view of area rather than surface view
Kiana flys a figure 8 pattern over the dinghy as it rows slowly, oh so slowly, toward land. She keeps an eye out for underwater obstacles from above, and also for things swimming toward the boat. The clear water should make it easy to see.
She also looks for a good inlet.
Yuki Okano |
Yuki begins humming a sea shanty as she rows, stopping if anyone looks like they're getting annoyed by it.
Profession (Sailor) to row: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Profession (Sailor) general: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Malyoxa Zigair |
Survival to Row: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Survival for Harbor: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
The sea is not a kind mistress to Malyoxa. She hopes she can prove her worth ashore.
The dice roller officially hates me.
Yuki Okano |
"You know what, I'm kind of curious. What were you gals doing in Port Peril before you got kidnapped?" Yuki asks, trying to pass the time while they row, "I was looking for a ship to sail on, which makes it even weirder that they drugged me and stripped my stuff in order to press-gang me."
nightdeath |
The island comes into view and with Kiana's exellent scouting, Yuki's navigating, Malyoxa's skill and Timarah's help, you soon find a perfect inlet with safe harbor for the Wormwood to sail in though it'll be a few hours before it can.
Kiana also notices what seems to be a ship in disrepair, ruins and a village of some sorts.
The forest is thick and there seems no road or path leading into or out of the tree line.
High cliffs keep this sheltered and from first glance, food is plentiful here. A waterfall from an 120 feet cliff ensures that there is fresh water and the abundance of animal life should ensure that game is abundant.
Kiana Sunbane |
Kiana will do a scouting flyover of the ship, the ruins, and the village last. She'll stay at least 120 ft up, just looking for general lay of the land of each. If she's attacked by anything, she'll break off scouting and fly off (not toward the group in the dinghy) and then loop back at a lower altitude and report to the dinghy group.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Yuki Okano |
"You'd think so, you know? With the water and food around, it's bound to have someone living around here. I would hope they're friendly, but no telling what those crazies on the ship would do to a bunch of pleasant natives." Yuki muses in response to Malyoxa's question, "We should go explore it instead of going back. That ship is terrible."
Malyoxa Zigair |
"Hmm, it'd be interesting to explore our options," Malyoxa says in agreement. "I wouldn't mind not seeing that despicable Mr. Plugg again, but that would mean I'm being blessed."
nightdeath |
Map is up. Small Red 'X' is where you are. Large red 'X' is where the wormwood is. Ignore all Road markings.
Without your equipment or even a single piece of gold, it'll be hard to do anything as you are now as the stark reality strikes you. The town that Kiana sees seems populated but there doesn't seem to be anything else she can see as the evening is falling and mist is rising.
Tirmariah |
"I guess I should hold onto one of those maces until I can find something more suitable," Tirmariah says. "And I agree. Let's take a look around."
Yuki Okano |
"Yeah, let's go to the village, we might be able to find a real bed to sleep in!" Yuki says, with a little more excitement than she intended.
Kiana Sunbane |
So Kiana didn't get any more detailed information flying a once over on the ruins, ship and village? I haven't been posting in conversations because she was doing that first....
nightdeath |
Posted Map because that's what Kiana would have gotten as a bird's eye view and also because you're about to have company. Let's hope your perception doesn't fail you this time. I admit to being very amused at those rolls, considering you have a +10.
Kiana Sunbane |
12 is above average at least, and 20+ is always good for a final result.
Kiana lands where the dhingy is. "There is a village up the river there, about X hours walk." Fill in X hours for whatever the GM says it is away Then she points east down the river. "There is a wrecked ship up the river, it looks beyond saving, and has probably been looted, but it's there." Then she points northeast. "There are some ruins to the northeast, they look like they might once have been an outpost or monastery."
Perception while landing: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 How's that one GM
nightdeath |
Excellent
Kiana's keen eyes enable her to spot 3 scaled individuals in the water making their way to the dinghy, with their blue-green scales making it hard to catch sight of them. They're armed with spears and nets.
She also catches sight of another 3 loosing their nocked bows at her.
Bow 1 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 101d4 ⇒ 2
Bow 2 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d4 ⇒ 2
Bow 3 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d4 ⇒ 1
Kiana Sunbane |
Kiana growls. "Three lizards in the water..." She ducks, taking an arrow to the shoulder with a grunt. "And three in the tree-line." With a fierce growl her wings beat down and she moves.
Not sure how far away they are. Kiana has 60 ft of flight. If she has a full action, and they are within 60 ft, she'll fly and land in front of the middle one and then attack the middle one. If they are beyond 60 ft and inside 120 with a full action, or if they are within 60 ft but she only has a standard action, she'll charge the middle one using her flight.
Kick: 1d20 ⇒ 11 *sigh* I'm a ranged character who has no ranged weapons, +2 if she charged
nightdeath |
Kiana's kick manages to strike one of the archers which screeches at her in anger as it ducks safety out of the way.
50 feet away and on the shore.
Kiana Sunbane |
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Didn't think I hit, so didn't roll damage. Did the lizard run away, or just screech and duck it's head?
nightdeath |
Just duck. They got you outnumbered 3 to 1. They're confident.
Kiana Sunbane |
Well, I assumed the GM gave them first crack this round, since they all attacked or swam on us, so initiative isn't really important at this point is it? It will be important round 2 on.
nightdeath |
I'm kinda waiting on your Actions. I got Kiana's and Malyoxa's am waiting for the rest. Else on Monday I post Init and we'll go from there.
Yuki Okano |
If Yuki knows about the creatures in the water:
Readying an action to attack the first one in melee range.
Hv. mace: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
...and missing terribly!
If Yuki only sees the ones on shore and/or arrows flying into the water:
Ducking down in boat for cover.
nightdeath |
A shrill whistle breaks up the fight as the scaled ones flee despite dealing very little damage from a likely confused Kiana on land.
The ones in the water however continue on as they clamber up the dinghy!!! Yuki's swing made worse by the boat's rocking hits none as they laugh and point their weapons at you.
