Alex1:

Hi there!!

Female Human Alchemist-2

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

After 3 weeks of travel, your destination is finally at hand. The caravan master tells you that tonight you should be comfortably ensconced at the Travellers’ Inn at The Keep. It cannot be soon enough for you.
You set off from the southern city of Oakchester on a bright, but chilly autumn morning. Your party consisted of 3 medium sized wagons pulled by teams of 4 oxen each. This was followed by a mule train of 10 animals. The four merchants, whose goods the caravan represented, were also there to give final instruction to the guards and drivers. A small group of 6 porters also accompanied the caravan, to assist with the packing and unpacking of the goods. When all was said and done, the caravan consisted of the master, mounted on his fine Idlasian stallion, the 3 wagons with 2 drivers each, the mule train with its 3 skinners, the 6 porters and 10 guards. There were also 3 travellers with the group; a merchant looking to setup shop at the keep, a healer, with her many bottles and beakers, and a wanderer, looking to make a name for himself in the north.
The first week or so was quiet. For a few days outside the city, small hamlets and farms were common, but the further away you went, the wilder the lands became. Soon only overgrown fields and ruined towns could be found. Just two days ago the caravan was attacked by a pack of wild dogs. While no one was hurt, 2 of the mules were injured by the attack and had to be put down. The goods were redistributed to the other animals and soon the caravan was on the road again.
It has been a very lonely road, with no other travellers encountered for almost the entire trip. It is then, with some surprise, that you round a bend and see before you a group of robed figures. They wear the mantles of the Grey Friars, a monastic order that travels the wild lands attempting to help those in need. The caravan slows as you begin to overtake the group. The caravan master leans down from his horse to speak with one of the brothers, when suddenly he is yanked from the saddle. His horse screams and bolts further down the road. As you watch, the cowls are thrown back and green bestial faces leer at you. Weapons appear in their hands, almost like magic, and before you know it, they are among the party, swinging and stabbing.
Ok, this is your introduction. Please roll for initiative..you need to enter a formula like this – Initiative: [dice]1d20+(Ini. Score)[/dice}…the last bracket will be a square one as well..I just used that one so I could show you the formula. They are all listed under the text box and are fairly straight forward.

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Female Human Alchemist-2

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Female Human Fighter-2

Dan, are you seeing my init roll? It keeps saying 0 seconds ago.

Hmmm, now it's gone. Let's try again.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

got it!!! ok...the initiatives are as follows;

Guard Dog
Orc#6
Orc#4
Sasha
Orc#3
Inamm
Alex
Orc#2
Guard Dog
Orc#1
Orc#5

Sasha: You need to order your dogs to attack and who/what to attack. You are being attacked by Orc #5 and #6, Inamm by Orc's #1 and #2, and Alex by Orc's #3 and #4.

Cursing herself for a fool, Sasha drew her swords. Whistling to her two dogs, she gave them the command to attack the nearest orc. Working in tandem, as they'd been trained to do, they lunged and bit at the fake friar. (#5)

Attack Dog 1: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Attack Dog 2: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Damage Dog 1: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Damage Dog 2: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Her swords flashing, Sasha closed on the other foe.

ooc - I'm not sure how to write up the rolls for my swords. Can you show me for the first time? I'll attack both swords on orc #6.

Female Human Fighter-2

Attack #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Attack #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

ROUND ONE

Sasha gives her dogs the order to attack, and the first one lands a savage bite to the orc's face.
It made a critical hit, so it does 2x damage..I will roll for its additional damage. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The orc (#5) goes down with the dog still chewing at its face.
The orc standing beside the one brought down by the dogs lunges forward and attempts to hack at Sasha.

Orc #6 Attack-melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9

The orc's sword catches Sasha just below her chain shirt, opening a long and bloody gash across her abdomen

Alex, still stunned by the sudden transformation of the monks is not prepared for the savage orcs attack, as one bears down on her.
You are flat-footed until your action

Orc #4 Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 = 9

You are lucky as the creature misjudged the distance and the heavy sword whizzes only a few scant inches from your body.

With both her swords out, Sasha attempts to retaliate against the monster which struck her, unfortunately the damage must have been more punishing, as it threw off her aim and neither attack struck.

Seeing his partner fail to connect, another Orc moves to attack Alex.
Orc #3 Attack-melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12

Like the first one, this orc also missed the alchemist.

Inamm you are up next

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

Being out in the open air had been a blessing to her, but the tedious hours, then days of unchanging landscape was starting to wear on her. When she felt the shift in the wagon as it slowed, she immediately propped herself among the cargo to see what was up. Just as she managed to pull herself high enough to see from the wagon, the sound of a screaming horse arises.
Trying to maintain some degree of cover, Inamm throws a dagger at the nearest orc (#1).

ATTACK - ranged - orc #1 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Critical confirm - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage - 1d4 ⇒ 2
Crit Damage - 1d4 ⇒ 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

The dagger leaves the half-sylph's hand and lazily tumbles towards its target. As if on cue, the orc looks up just in time to have the point of the dagger enter his left eye. He drops to the ground dead before he knew what hit him.

Alex you are next up

Female Human Alchemist-2

Alex barely had enough time to process what was happening before two orcs were bearing down on her. Thankfully their skill was not as menacing as they looked and she had escaped their attacks. Taking a step back to remain clear of their swords, Alex removed a couple small bottles from her readily accessible belt pouch and immediately mixed them together before throwing the concoction at the nearest orc.

Attack - thrown - orc#4 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

ooc: Alex will take a 5foot step to avoid any AoO

Female Human Alchemist-2

ooc: sorry but forgot to specify that she is throwing a bomb at one of the orcs

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

The bomb soars past the first orc to hit squarely on the fellow behind him. As the chemicals mix, a bright flash, followed by a deep "boom" tosses the orc some 10' across the clearing, leaving him shattered and broken like an old rag doll.

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

One of the orcs, seeing the dagger fly from the bed of the wagon, charges over and tries to strike at Inamm.
You will receive partial cover against the attack (+2)

Orc #2 Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11

Its heavy blade chops at the Sylph, but comes nowhere near hitting her.

The last 2 orcs (#1 & #5 are already dead, so we will start at the top of the initiative again. So Sasha you need to roll for your first dog. Everyone has 1 orc attacking them.

Guard Dog #1
Orc#6
Sasha
Orc#3
Inamm
Alex
Orc#2
Guard Dog #2

Female Human Fighter-2

Whistling again, Sasha directed Wes to attack the remaining orc near her. The heavy-set rottweiler lunged again, attempting to clamp down on the creature's knee.

Wes attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
damage:1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

I seem to have different stats for my dogs this time! Am I reading the sheet wrong? Am I crazy?

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

Round Two

Well they seem to be the same...lol...Happy Mother's Day as well!!!

Wes attacks the orc he was directed to, taking a chunk out of the creatures calf.

The orc, in retaliation, swings its falchion at the dog.

Orc #6 Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8

The wicked blade descends and strikes the hound a resounding blow. He falls to the ground, blood leaking from the gash it his flank. Howling in glee and triumphant, the orc steps over the prone animal.

Your up next Sasha

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

Inamm squeaks as the orcs blade blurs passed her. Instinct, this time, guides her reflexes as she throws another dagger from her belt.

ATTACK - ranged - orc #2 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage - dagger - 1d4 ⇒ 1

Female Human Fighter-2

Furious at the beast for wounding her animal, Sasha takes a step forward, spinning her blades in her hands. A flurry of movement, she strikes high with her right hand, chopping for the neck. Simultaneously, she thrust with the left, hoping to skewer the beast through the stomach.

Attack right: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage right: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Attack left: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage left: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

Your overhand chop at the orc's neck is blocked, but you are able to thrust your off-hand weapon past the monster's guard and strike a weak blow. The orc grunts in pain, its eyes boring into yours.

Orc #3, after watching his partner get blown-up, and being burned by the splash of chemicals from the explosion, decides to rushes the alchemist in an attempt to take her down quickly.

Orc #3 Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7

The orc's swift attack overwhelms the alchemist's defenses and results in a crushing blow to her left shoulder.

Inamm attempts to dissuade the orc trying to attack her in the back of the wagon with a well placed dagger throw, however the creature dodges at the last moment and the dagger soars off into the surrounding brush.

Alex you are up next...also the orc that hit you took splash damage from your bomb - 3 pts. Sorry I forgot to add that last round.

Female Human Alchemist-2

Alex's shoulder was throbbing and blood trickled down her arm. Thankfully the orc's attack didn't impair her ability to throw. Even though the orc had closed the distance, Alex moved again to remove herself from his immediate threat range. Again she mixed a couple bottles together and threw it at the orc who had just tried to take her arm off.

attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

The explosive concoction detonates, tearing the entire right arm of the orc and spinning him away from you.

The last orc, still trying to get at the girl in the back of the wagon, again swings at her.

Orc #2 attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9

Timing his strike just right, he is able to catch Inamm on her left leg before she could pull back. A deep gash nearly brings her to her knees, and by willpower alone she remains upright.

New round, Sasha's dog goes first. You may all post if you wish, and I will sort it out. Only 2 orcs left...#6 on Sasha and #2 on Inamm

Female Human Fighter-2

Since Wil didn't go last round, I assume I roll for him, then Wes for next round? Also, I wrote this hours ago and thought I'd posted it, but somehow it lost everything and I have to do it again. Grrrr...

"Wes, Wil, guard kill!" shouted Sasha, pointing to Inamm. The dogs needed no encouragement to attack the orc that had struck such a cruel blow to the sylph. Lunging in unison, they snarled and bit, tearing away chunks of robe, and hopefully the flesh beneath it.

Wil attack : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Wes attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Meanwhile, Sasha turned spun on her heel, using her momentum to add power to her overhead slash. Aiming again for the neck, she hoped to finish the orc off for good. Simultaneously she stabbed again with her left hand, aiming for the heart.

Attack sword 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Attack sword 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Oh for goodness sake!!! What a useless meat shield I'm turning out to be!

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

Inamm growls with pain as the Orc hit her. Anger spurs her to engage the foul beast directly.

Two weapon fighting:
Melee Attack - dagger - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage - dagger - 1d4 ⇒ 3
Melee Attack - 2nd dagger - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage - 2nd dagger - 1d4 ⇒ 4

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

Sasha:

Wes is down and dying. I will take Wil's attack from your roll here as his attack and start round #3 after he goes (he is last on the initiative)

Wil, seeing his partner struck down by the orc, throws himself at the monster, but is unable to connect.

ROUND 3

Orc#6
Sasha
Inamm
Alex
Orc#2
Wil-dog

The orc fends off the vicious dog, swinging its blade at the animal in an attempt to free himself from its ferocious attack.

Orc #6 attack-melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8

The orc misses the wiley dog, as Wil scoots out of the way of the sword stroke.
Taking advantage of the orc's distraction with the dog, Sasha launches into a attack with both he swords. While the first swing missed, her second one did not, laying open the orc's belly from side to side. It joins it's entrails on the ground.

Angry at the orc for daring to strike at her, let alone actually hit, Inamm takes her match set of dueling daggers and hacks the unprepared orc to pieces. It falls to the ground, both eyes pierced by the flashing knives.

COMBAT ENDED

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

As you survey the area, you see at least a score or maybe more dead orcs. Only two of your party lie with the dead; a porter and the brash wanderer who was looking for adventure in the north. The orc's are stripped of their possessions and tossed into the brush on the side of the road. The caravan master approaches you as others clean up and ready the party to continue onwards.
"You have done a great service to me and the others here. Between the 3 of you, and your dogs, you killed over half of those beasts. I will not forget such heroism, and once we arrive at the keep, I will arrange rooms for each of you. As well, I promise you a full half the price of the possessions gathered from those monsters. For now, is there anything I can do to assist you? I see you took wounds..I have but 2 potions I can offer you, but here they are. Use them with my blessing. Please also ride in the back of this wain, we should reach the Keep within a few hours."
With that he hurries off to take charge to the caravan and get it moving. Soon the sway of the wagon tells you that once again the caravan is moving and you are drawing closer to your destination.
You have 2 cure light wounds potions

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

Feeling stupid for getting hurt, Inamm, sulking, settles herself back into the wagon bed. She slowly lifts her tunic to get a better look at her leg and attempt to mend it the best she can.

Heal - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Female Human Fighter-2

Sorry, I forgot the dog was down. I blame baby brain.

I take it we have to keep track of our own damage? Or can you post a final tally at the end of the battle?

Seeing that the people were safe and in good hands, Sasha turned her attention to her dog. Wil, his short white fur stained red with blood, was lying beside the larger Wes, growling at anybody who came near.

Booting the pit bull out of the way, Sasha knelt down to see if the rotty could be saved.

Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Liberty's Edge

Male Historian/Curator

Good idea Ang...I do keep track of HP...and XP...so here is the tally
Alex 8/15 HP
Sasha 11/20
Wil -2/6
Wes 6/6
Inamm 8/17

Looking at her wound, Inamm is able to stop the trickle of blood and bandage it up. Beyond that, she is not too sure what to do.
Sasha is able to bind up Wil and stop his bleeding, but like Inamm, is not sure what to do after that.
All three of you and the 2 dogs are in the back of the wagon. You each know each other by sight, but have not actually spoken, as you were all in different parts of the caravan.

Female Human Fighter-2

Here are my dogs

Wes - Rottweler
Wil - pitbull

Female Human Fighter-2

Eyeing the other two women, Sasha spoke a quiet word to Wil. The pitbull quit snarling at them and lay down protectively beside Wes.

Sasha was tall and thin, but her lean muscles bulged and her body was a network of scars. She wore stained leather pants and jacket over a very fine looking chain shirt. She wore a leather cap on her head, which she removed and raked her fingers through her short, sweaty hair.

"I am Sasha," she said, "and I suppose that finally we are well met." Looking at the two other women, neither of them looking particularly like fighters, she said, "You are both skilled, and I would be pleased to know more of you."

Can I have descriptions of you ladies please? :)

Female Sylph Rogue (Knife Master)-2

The sulking female in the back of the wagon is long and lean, almost to the point of looking fragile. She is wearing a well faded homespun tunic and leggings. The slight bulk, and rustle, of some sort of armour is apparent underneath the tunic as she moves, clumsily trying to bind her wound. She is slightly above average in comeliness, most of that stemming from the slightly exotic cast of her features. Her eyes are a bright green, like well watered grass. Her most striking feature is her braided hair, as it has a slightly purplish hue highlighting its light brown colour, and it's ends are currently moving in a breeze all of its own.

She is muttering under her breath as she tries to doctor her leg. As she finishes with the wrapping, she sighs as she notices the tear in her leggings. With a quick flip of her hand, the blood staining her pants is gone. This is when she notices the scar covered girl is talking to her.

Embarrassed to be caught in one of her vanities, she jumps down from the wagon, and smoothing down her hair, speaks as she approaches.

"Ahhh... Well met. I am Inamm. Ahhh...how is your dog?"

Female Human Fighter-2

Sasha shrugged. "Badly injured. He may yet die."
Nodding towards the other woman's injuries, she asked, "And your leg? Perhaps you should take one of the potions my employer has offered."

Female Human Alchemist-2

Alex sat in the corner of the wagon assessing everyone. She definitely had a different look than most travelers. She was dressed in studded leather armor tinged green which seemed normal enough but she also wore a bright orange cloak overtop. She had many pouches attached around her waist from where she would pull odd coloured bottles from time to time. Her long auburn hair was pulled into two pony tails on each side of her head but they were at different heights. Her green eyes were constantly moving as she took in her surroundings and a wave of freckles splattered her fair skin. As she sat in the sun she pulled out a jar with some cream and rubbed it into her skin to avoid it reddening.

Suddenly Alex burst into a giggle after moments of watching the one called Inamm try to dress her leg wound. She pointed at Wil and Inamm, "He should drink one of the potions and you should too. Then she pulled two amber bottles from one of her pouches and put one into Sasha's hand. Alex clinked her bottle against Sasha's and said, "Cheers!" before giggling again and downing her own. Her hand then began to glow and she touched her shoulder which then healed over. When Sasha just sat with a confused, somewhat frightened look on her face Alex laughed and said, "It won't work if you don't drink it. Just drink it and then touch yourself." This seemed hilarious to Alex as she burst into another fit of giggles.

Cure on Alex 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Cure on Sasha 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 assuming she drinks it :)

Female Human Alchemist-2

Alex caught her breath after her last fit of giggles. "They call me Alex." A smile spread across her face, "Well met indeed!"

Female Human Fighter-2

Sasha stared at the lopsided giggling ginger, and eyed the contents of the bottle. The intent was clear enough, and when the ginger woman's shoulder healed over, Sasha drained the contents of her bottle. She then laid a tentative hand on her wound and felt a warmth spread across her.

"My thanks, Alex!" she said. "I don't have enough to pay your for your potion, but when I'm paid at the keep I shall reimburse you for your generosity."

Turning to where the dog lay panting shallowly, the warrior shook her head. "As for my brave Wes, it would be inappropriate to use such magic on him. He was trained for war, and if he dies it is simply proof that he was not good enough. I would not want to trust my back to such an animal. If he pulls through, then his strength and anger will increase likewise, and only then will he continue to be an asset."

In truth, Sasha was surprised the woman had even suggested such a thing, but she was a ginger, and they were notoriously mad. Still, a useful sort of mad to have about. Turning to the quiet one, she said, "It's true that you should take one, though. Then all of us will be back to fighting strength, which may be important soon."

Female Human Alchemist-2

Alex listened to Sasha's words and shrugged. "If you don't want to use such magic on your dog then at least let me take a look at him. I may be able to help heal him in a more conventional manner.. Sasha pulled out her healer's kit, "May I?"

Healing check 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 22
