So this is also the communication center right? Do vehicles/units/soldiers have Friend or Foe transmitters? Can these be pinged for location? Same question for GPS. I am assuming simply transmitting on the missing folks frequencies has been tried?

You have not been told this was tried. But as a low level grunt you probably wouldn't be told anyway.

As for transmitters like you described Zochel may have only ever heard of them. And only for important personnel (like a sanctioned psyker you really don't want to go missing) but not for much else.

Quote:

Is there any civilian com traffic?

Oddly, no. Even if Zochel scans all the frequencies he only ever finds military comms, all of which you are pretty sure are your own.

"Hey boss, either this equipment is broken or the planet has gone silent. I'm not even getting weather reports."

Tark: Are there automated systems? Landing/navigation beacons. Automated muzak stations....anything?
And would the Inquisitor we are backing up have one of those don't go missing transmitters?
Can Zochel identify the frequencies used by the former PDF? And if yes, would it be a violation of orders to send out a hello?

Will post tuesday. New job is kicking my ass and I need ot take the time to read over the combat rules. Not to be OMINOUS or anything.

Feel free to interact together and contemplate your fate before then.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

While he has not used this rifle yet, Cormaeg takes a moment to check the ammo counter, taking out the charge pack and reinserting it, and in general just almost obsessively checking his weapon.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be Sarge."

Male Orc Expert 5

Well my back is pure agony after throwing it out trying to pull a pallet of wet mulch by myself with a pallet jack. I'm going to read up on those rules this morning. Sorry, this is all a learning experience for me. This whole initial set up is so Tark can learn the rules as much as anyone else.

WS 40, BS 20, S 35, T 35, Ag 35, Int 30, Per 30, WP 40, Fel 43, Wounds 14/14, FP 1/1

Ouch... also, feel free to have us step through the rules in thread as well. Oftentimes the easiest way to resolve them is with implementation.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

My sympathies, and yes, learning by doing is a good way to learn.

Ouch, not fun. Plus what they said about rules.

Hope you have a speedy recovery. And I don't mind learning the rules as we go. :)

Male Orc Expert 5

Right Ill get us moving when I get home from work in the morning.

Male Orc Expert 5

Alrighty let's start with an easy thing before I go to bed.

Awareness rolls at +20 please.

Then roll initiative: 1d10+your agility bonus (the tens portion of the bonus)

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

Awareness: 1d100 ⇒ 90
Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

Awareness (Per 35 + 20): 1d100 ⇒ 2
Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Lightning Reflexes: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Awareness+20-20untrained: 1d100 + 20 - 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 - 20 = 6 vs 40
Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Whatever it is I think Zochel saw it.

WS 40, BS 20, S 35, T 35, Ag 35, Int 30, Per 30, WP 40, Fel 43, Wounds 14/14, FP 1/1

Initiative: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Little later today guys promise.

Male Orc Expert 5

As you reach the third floor the whole place is dark. In the darkness you can make out plastic covering the furniture giving the impression of a haunted house. Dust covers everything and the clouds of spores and human skin waste floating across your flash lights play tricks on your eyes and the shadows putting everyone on edge as the general chatter of the squad fades into a graveyard silence.

Lining up on a door one of your mates checks the handle, and the world explodes.

1d100 ⇒ 79

Ducking out of the way as the familiar roar of a heavy stubber rips the door into fragments. Your comrade curses as he hustles the hell out of the way with hand on his helmet.

Combat time. Conditions dark. Everyone's on either side of the junk that was a door in a narrow hallway.

With a shout of "Grenade!" Zochel tosses a light globe through the shattered door.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

Waiting to see if the light globe reveals anything.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

As he takes cover against the wall, Cormaeg calls out, just in case this combat can be avoided.
"Imperial guard, 1st Black Regiment! Identify yourself!"

Male Orc Expert 5

Nothing answers Cormaeg as the glow globe reveals a large plastic covered office. Standing in the middle is a gun servitor slowly striding towards the door as peeping heads are answered by heavy fore from the heavy stubber replacing it's arm filling the air with thunder, fire, and lead.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

How far off is the servitor, and another question more to the rest of the group. Would using the Melta be overkill on this bugger? Bit uncertain what to do and wanted some feedback. I'm currently doubting between switching to lasgun and starting to lay down a full-auto or semi-auto barrage, or just shooting it with the melta. Distance obviously might also help me decide.

Male Orc Expert 5

He's roughly 40ft. away from the door and closing.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

Zaltys either switches to his lasgun (which is 2 half actions, one for storing meltagun and 1 for retrieving lasgun) or starts aiming with the meltagun as a full-action, as the servitor is currently in his long range and that would be to much of a penalty to just shoot. Don't want to waste meltagun ammo :)

Male Orc Expert 5

Sarge?

WS 40, BS 20, S 35, T 35, Ag 35, Int 30, Per 30, WP 40, Fel 43, Wounds 14/14, FP 1/1

Sorry - lost my USB stick and consequently every single PDF of RPG books I own when I came back from holiday. Taking a while to re-build the empire so to speak.

Hathin's training takes over as he takes cover to one side of the door, chainsword in hand. He bellows "Take it out lads" personally waiting for the servitor to draw closer to the doorway where he could draw close enough for a chainsword swipe.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

Anyone have an opinion on whether I should toast it with the melta when it gets close or switch to las?

WS 40, BS 20, S 35, T 35, Ag 35, Int 30, Per 30, WP 40, Fel 43, Wounds 14/14, FP 1/1

We've no reason to suggest that we'd have problems with resupply yet - so I'd melt away.
2d10+10 Pen 12 >>>>>>>> 1d10+3 Pen 0

Male Orc Expert 5

I forgot this game does things in metric. So he's about 11 meters away if that matters to anyone's action. Well within melta range.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

"On it sarge." With trained expertise Zaltys brought the power of the meltagun to bear upon the gun servitor.

Half action to aim for +10 on my Ballistic Skill, half action for Standard Attack providing another +10
Ballistic Skill vs 67: 1d100 ⇒ 46
If no evasion reaction, hit location is reverse of the ballistic skill roll --> 64 --> Body location
Damage (Pen 12): 2d10 + 10 ⇒ (9, 4) + 10 = 23

Male Orc Expert 5

Okay, I'm lost. What page can I find the rules for hitting and injury?

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

Well, the hit list is on pg 250, and the critical injury begins on pg 258

And the Full-auto attack rules on Page 245 as the Heavy Stubber only does 8 shot full auto. At least if I am reading the weapon table correctly.

We are so dead.

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

I think my meltagun disagrees with that statement Zochel!

Male Orc Expert 5

Evasion.

1d100 - 10 ⇒ (92) - 10 = 82

So Zaltys most definitely hits the gun servitor's body.

The gun servitor's armor and inhuman toughness avails it not against a steady stream of the emperor's wrath. Blowing a hole compeltely through it and through several rooms behind it the meltagun starts several small fires that trigger the floor's fire sprinkler system replacing the rain of bullets with a rain of water.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

"I'd say that was a clean kill Mootz, fine shooting."

WS 40 | BS 47 | ST 36 | TN 32 | AG 38 | PER 36 | INT 25 | WILL 35 | FELL 30 Wounds 15/15 | Fate Points 3/3 | current lasclip 59/60 | current meltaclip 4/5

Zaltys looks at the rest of the hallway and the damage from his shot. "Yeah. Just hope I didn't hit anything important down the line."

Just was checking something concerning my meltagun. It never says in the book if you get extra ammo for the Specialist Equipment you choose as a Weapon Specialist. Just was wondering if I only have 4 shots left and that is it :)

"We gotta get you a another gun Mootz. This one makes everything wet." Zochel says as he sets up from the squelching carpet.

Retrieve the Lamp globe if it survived and check out the new room and the new corridor.

Fires spreading?

"I wonder why the servitors want to kill us? They are usually programmed better than this."

Zochel stretches. "Suppose we should take a look at the new corridor
corridor you made Mootz"

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

"Well, they could be programed to kill anyone not giving a certain ode I suppose...but it's still kind of light deterrent for a determined assault.
Everything here seems fishy..."

WS 40, BS 20, S 35, T 35, Ag 35, Int 30, Per 30, WP 40, Fel 43, Wounds 14/14, FP 1/1

Zaltys - rulebook says somewhere that you get two extra clips for it.

Leaning around the corner to see the newly destroyed servitor, Hathin nods "Hold a few to see if that brings any fresh bogies before we scout out lads."

Male Orc Expert 5

Promise more regular updates.

AFter several minutes of wetness no reinforcements come for the fallen gunservitor.

Nodding "Aye, roll in... but keep weapons free and stay frosty" looking through and past into the office. He follows the rest of the squad through, keeping a weather eye for anything that reaches out to grab it...

Cormaeg pats Zaltys on the back, letting him lead with his deadly gun, then he follows behind quickly.
"Fast and easy, just the way I like it..."

<squelch...squelch...squelch>

Zochel falls in behind Cormaeg and says smiling...

"It's a great life in the PBI. Even in office buildings you get to march through the mud."
