So, we're going to an unknown defense of those knights to discover it?
We must suppose it will be protected against intruders, being them bandits or pathfinders like us
GM Chyro |
Unfortunately, none of you decipher the whereabouts from the crypt in the poem.
"Quite a mystery, this poem. I'll hire a scholar, maybe he or she will figure it out.
Come check back later today."
--------------
Some later that day...
"Ah, welcome back. The site in question is referenced in history as "Rondeau of Righteous Retention", a tomb where the Shining Crusade set up powerful layers to keep Tar-Baphon imprisoned.
It is safe to assume centuries of absence, has not done much good for that cause. I'll mark it on a map."
VC Besnik hands you a chart with the borders near Lastwall, and an X where the site is said to be.
"Take this, it should come in handy."
He also hands you a wand of CSW (5 charges), a wand of protection from evil (7 charges), and a travelers-all tool.
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji, unable to use wands himself, takes possession of the magical swiss-army knife and tucks it away in his pack for now. "Thank you, that could definitely come in handy."
Sele the Thorn |
Can anyone else use these wands? If not I shall hold them and use as is needed."
Sele takes the wands if none can use them.
Keera Airbornt |
I can use the CSW wand in case it's needed, but not the other then she removes the CLW wand of his springloaded wraistsheet and put the new wand. This way I could use quickly if we need it.
The she picks some bags from her backpack and gives them to her companions. Recently I've discover how to transform myself in an elemental, but I could not use my magic in that body if I don't have one component's pouch, so please carry them for me, so you can give me one, yes?
Kenji Nishida |
Kenji takes one with a little frown...."Not sure I'd know what to do with this... what to give you and when."
GM Chyro |
As you travel through the lifeless Hungry Mountains in Virlych toward your destination, a drizzle transforms into an ever more aggressive snowstorm, as if the weather itself was trying to keep you away, and strange whispers fill the air.
Eventually, you find a toppled obelisk on a peak marking the entrance to the underground fortress.
A staircase descends 30 feet into the mountainside.
Down below, light is absent, everything is pitch black.
Map updated.

"Well this looks promising at least... " Kenji peers down into the darkness. 60' darkvision While doing so he checks for traps near the top of the stairs.

Sele just has his Ioun stone with the continual flame spell on it.
As deep dark dank holes go... yes
GM Chyro |
Kenji finds no traps, much to the team's relief.
The hallway you have entered, stretches for quite some distance, and the floor is decorated with a great number of sharp spikes, serrated blades and sprung traps.
Moving too fast could be harmful to one's health.
Though in the immediate vicinity, you notice a few corridors.
Marked 1,2 & 3.
Btw, what will be the marching order for this mission?
Sele the Thorn |
Kenji... Sele or Spenser based on Per.. then whomever with last being the low per warrior?
Keera Airbornt |
For the marching order I prefer if Sobrino can be the last, he can fly over us to go to the front if needed.
Well, this looks a good place to see how my new form can get along says Keera as she letfs in the floor his backpack, weapons, wraithsheets and wands. Then she starts to change, her skin becomes more blue and her body smaller and vaporous as she take the form of an humanoid small air elemental.
The she starts picking her belongings and offers her weapons to whoever wants to use them, after all, they're suited to a bigger user than me
She looks aroung, checking the disposition of the place and suggest to explore the nearer chamber at the west.
GM Chyro |
Room #1 it is.
A single sarcophagus dominates the east end of this room. The walls are adorned with engravings of soldiers in plate armor holding their helms reverently to their sides, eyes downcast.
The sarcaphocus is slightly ajar.
Kenji Nishida |
"Oh, that's not a good sign..." Kenji proceeds forward cautiously, checking for traps along the way.

While there are stories of things hiding or sleeping within coffins, such as mimics and vampires, this sarcophacus turns out to be only opened, and nothing dangerous is on or inside it.
Inside are the remains of a figure in Tian armor, along with a katana.
Any detect magic on them yields no result, to be ahead of you here.
Sele the Thorn |
Sele will close the sarcophagus
"Rest in peace."
He then examines the engraving

None, sorry. It's well crafted, though, but old. :)
Keera Airbornt |
It looks there's nothing relevant here. We should close the sarcophagus and continue exploring suggest Keera. What about the chamber just north of this The #3

When Sele approaches, carefully stepping around the sharp blades and spikes, he finds himself facing an old statue of Sarenrae.
Time and neglect have somewhat lessened detailed features, but it is obviously her.
Kenji notices the stairs to the right, is broken, and inaccessable.
With his darkvision, he observes three more passages.
Marked 4, 5 & 6.
#7 he'd notice if he walked towards them.
Keera Airbornt |
I'll explore the east before going further. What do you think? suggest Keera. But you have the last word, as you make the first steps in.
#2 in my opinion. And more guidance for everybody, also, Chyro, can we consider I cast it before we explore a section and I didn't repeat it every post?
GM Chyro |
Sure.
Can i get perception checks please.

"Och!" Exclaims Sir Spenser as he bends over to examine the contents of a small crack in the floor. "Behold, ein fleur! Racks for bows, crossbows, and other ranged weapons line the southern walls of the chamber. Receptacles for ammunition stand between the racks. A large arcane mark glows on the floor atop a raised platform.
Unknown to the party, something sinister had heard them approach, and lurks within the room.

As the group has entered the center of the room, a subtle vibe passes.
Vassago blinks twice, being closest on his save.
Spenser on the other hand, leans on his sword, and slowly dozes off, slumping onto the ground.
"Windmills.....*snore*...have at thee...*snore*..
At the far side of the room, an inky silhouet is seen at the platform.
Stairs' squares will count as 2x movement.
1d4 ⇒ 2
A strong burst of wind comes from the platform, hitting the team.
Every round, a force of wind comes from a random direction. Moving into that direction requires a DC 15 str check.
Flying creatures take a -4 penalty on fly checks.

Then she conjures a snowball on her hand to thorw at the creature and asks sobrino to attack it. Unless my knowledge check suggest it won't work

Well done sobrino! let's take care of that creature before it can affect anyone
GM Chyro |
These things are incorporeal, as such physical attacks, unless magical, are ineffective.
Anything that deals magical damage deals only 50% dmg.
As Keera wants to move forward...
Str to move against wind: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
The creature takes 7 dmg from Keera's snowball attack.
As Keera recalls this thing not to be of solid body, she refrains from asking her pet bird to attack.
I've placed him back to starting point.
