Eitylen |
Eitylen try to move close to the pirates
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
and from a cover position
Bomb: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 122d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1) + 4 = 11
sneak damage?: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
GM Lemmy |
"Well, it was nice knowing him."
Who?
*Stealth & Sneak*
I'm pretty sure splash weapons don't deal precision damage... You miss, anyway...
Initiative - Eitylen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Initiative - Tai Leng: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
You two do get a surprise round vs the pirates, if you want to stay and fight.
GM Lemmy |
Also, yeah...
Eitylen's flask splashes a modicum of flaming liquid on the nearest pirate... It doesn't seem to cause major injuries, but it isn't insignificant either... The man stares angrily at the elf for a moment, then aim his crossbow...
And owuld probably shoot it, but it isn't his turn yet... Where is Kadir?
Kadir Drummond |
Sorry been super swamped at work. Also we have a new policy of no phones on the floor :(
Kadir shoves the powder keg towards the boat and runs as it rolls to the edge of the dock before turning around and shooting it.
"Come on Cyrus we gotta get out of here!" He says as he runs pulling the priest with him.
pepperbox: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 251d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Brother Cyrus |
Waiting for my turn. =P
Brother Cyrus follows Kadir's lead and runs with him.
"Whats the plan now?!"
GM Lemmy |
Ah, right.. .I actually forgot to say it was your turn (the guy who was supposed to act before you just reached 0 hp... And there isn't much he can do in that stat, even though, technically, he can act)
What happens enxt is up to Tai Leng and Eitylen, I suppose... If they run, we can consider you guys manage to escape the sight of the pirates.
GM Lemmy |
And here I was... Hoping you'd fight the pirates... Eh.... Maybe next time...
The group escapes under the cover of night. It isn't difficult to outwit whatever few pirates decide to chase you, thanks to the storm.
You find a inconspicuous back alley where you can question your prisoner... He's hurt, but stable... And a few slaps to his face are enough to wake him up.
He seems shocked and terrified, but speaks nonetheless...
"W-who the hell are ya?" He says, nervously "What do ya want from me?"
Tai Leng |
Leng kicks him in the stomach, just hard enough to knock the wind out of him.
"I'm asking the questions."
"Why are you selling those tieflings into slavery? And to whom?"
GM Lemmy |
"Me? I just do what the captain says! He does it for gold, of course... What else?. Lots of gold." he shakes uncomfortably on his seat "I dunno the name of the buyer... We dun ask many questions in this line of work... All I know is he wanted demon-spawn, so we got him demon-spawn... It's not our usual trade, but like I said... Lots of gold were involved... And we were gonna stop in Chelliax anyway." he thinks for a moment and foes on. "The client was pale as chalk and skinny as a ghoul... He had a long white beard and darkwood staff too... I know twas darkwood 'cause it looked just like Shortleg's shield. He was covered head to toes in a black cloak, though... I only saw his hands and a bit of his face."
Tai Leng |
"What I'm hearing right now is you have nothing useful to tell me."
"Which is a shame, because that's the only reason I was keeping you alive. Unless you have something to change my mind...?"
Tai Leng |
"My grandfather was a Legion Archon, you know."
Leng makes his eyes glow with Continual Flame.
"Think. Harder."
"Is there anything we can use to take your boss down? Does he ever go off alone, or is there some way we can get the authorities to actually deal with him?"
GM Lemmy |
You mean the captain or its client? I assume you meant the captain...
"The authorities...? That Ah dunno, brother... Ah try to keep mah distance from them... Ya probably knows them better than Ah do..." he calms down just a little... "Ah can't say if Cap' has any secret weakness... But ah can tell ya he's tougher than he looks... Even the rats are afraid of him! Bogo says they tell him all they see... And ah personally seen him kill a man twice his size! After being stabbed buncha times! He just stood up and killed broke the fool's neck... 3 days later, the Cap barely had a scar on him! He dun leave the ship alone... He says he has too many enemies to waste the edge of his own blade on them all. So he takes a couple men with him every time he leaves the ship" he scratches his head and goes on... "Ah dunno nothing 'bout the client... He stank of wine gone bad... He looked wrong... We told Cap' twas a bad idea to deal with him, but the gold was too good... And no man cares 'bout demon-blooded people anyway... We figure no one would come lookin' for them. But Gordo says he is bad luck, and ah believe him... The man just showed up on the ship one day... We were docked, but no one saw he climb aboard... Though I guess no one saw ya either... But ya didn't spirit away the way he did... He made his deal with Cap' and then he was gone... No brother saw him leave either... Gordo has the right of it, ya see... That man is bad luck, he is..."
GM Lemmy |
"Ah told ya, brother... The man was whiter than chalk! Not just pale like those nobles who dun get outta their homes enough... He was white as a ghost! And skinny like a ghoul! He smelt of rotten wine and he walked wrong... His steps were longer than his legs moved, and he made no sound... That man is not right, I tell ya! Only the Cap' didn't mind his presence."
Tai Leng |
"I see. Well, thank you for your cooperation."
Leng knees him in the face and knocks him unconscious again.
Leng takes out a piece of paper and a pen, and writes on it "I am a smuggler, pirate, and slaver", then pins it to the man's chest.
"Let's turn this guy over to the proper authorities while we think of our next move."
Brother Cyrus |
"Anyone up to raid Cadore's place again?"
GM Lemmy |
Technically... It's not Cadore's place anymore (XP)... Unless he's ressurected, I suppose... What are the inheritance laws for people who come back from the dead? What if someone is turned undead? Do zombies have the right to own property? What about intelligent undead? Huh... Now I'm curious...
GM Lemmy |
You move as swiftly as possible under the storm... The weather and darkness make sure you remain unseen all the way. Whatever few passerbys are out on the streets are in too much in a hurry to care about your presence... And even if they do glance towards you, the terrible visibility quickily makes them turn their heads back to their own paths...
As you reach Cadore's house, you notice there are no guards around. No sentinels. No thugs... No one. Even under the storm you can see the distinct lack of human presence in this place...
The main gate and front door are closed, but unguarded as well. There is a simple padlock holding the main gate shut... Lockpicking it should be almost as easy as leaping over the walls.
There's no movement anywhere on the street... Though this is hardly surprising this late in the night and under this weather...
GM Lemmy |
Tai Leng notices the flickering blue light... As he looks up, he also realizes that's the only floor where there seems to be any activity. The other windows around the building show no sign of life.
He notices the padlock at the gate is very cheap and unimpressive. Whoever decided to use it, wasn't particularly worried about intruders or escapees.
Eitylen |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Taking into account what happened to the last owner of the building, this place surely is full of nasty surprises
hey, one guy used a secret passageway to scape, did we learn to where that passageway lead?
GM Lemmy |
Did he? You didn't find any secret passage in Cadore's room. And the albino man escaped by sinking into the ground as if he were standing on quicksand.
The storm doesn't let Eitylenb benefit from his elven senses... And he can't notice anything strange, other the eerie silence in the house. He isn't too bothered by this, though... As even Tai Leng seems to not notice any hostile presence.
Eitylen |
Our last plan worked well enough, I suppose we do it again...In the meantime Eitylen needs a second opinion about traps in that door.
GM Lemmy |
As the door burst open, Tai Leng smels the scent of blood and rot. You can see pools of dry blood on the floor, reminders of your past battles in this place.
There are no candles or torches on the first floor... The only two sources of light are a single torch on the stairway and eerie blue light coming from under a big metal door on the second floor. Behind it you can hear a low grunt and the bubbling of boiling water.
A nearby wooden door has no creepy light, but you notice low moaning coming from behind it.
There are footsteps circling around the ceiling of the 2nd floor too. Someone in Cadore's old room must be quite impatient.
Roll20 Map Updated.
Brother Cyrus |
"Fairly certain someone is being tortured." Cyrus says as he lights his spear with magic.
Eitylen |
For a moment the thought that both of Tai leng options could be true is in Eitylen mind, but the elf prefer to not think in that kind of things.
Do you remember where were the traps last time?-Dagger in one hand, alchemist fire in the other.
GM Lemmy |
Sorry for the sudden disappearance. This week has been... Eventful.
The room behind the wooden door is almost completely dark, but what littleight there is allows Eitylen to see 4 or 5 humanoid shapes, sitting mostly still... Their outlines appear to best obstructed by something. One or two of them seem to be leaning on a nearby wall, though it's too close to the center of the room foe it to be one of the building's walls.
GM Lemmy |
Ah... The delight of having to work on a Sunday... -.-'
Tai Leng recognizes the humanoids shapes as 4 of the Tiefling slaves brought by the Sea Rat. They lie unconscious on the floor or leaning on the walls of an iron cage. They have oddly symetrical and precise cuts on their forearms and upper chest.
There are a few chains on the walls and a number of blades and syringues on a nearby table.
It's a big key hole, okay?
Note to self: Don't add doors in PbP games. :P
