WTH? I could swear I posted here around noon! oO
Nicos... Are you stealing my posts?
- - -
Kadir
The sailors at the main deck point their crossbows towards Kadir.
"Get away from our ship, you weirdo!" one of them shouts as he cocks his weapon.
- - -
Eitylen & Tai Leng
As you two open the door, you see the three men playing dice in a room filled with barrels and wooden crates, most of them smell of salty meat and rum. The room is pretty small, no more than 30ft keep you and the gambling sailors apart. There are three other exits in this room... A rope ladder leading up, a wooden door that is half-closed, but given the seemingly much bigger than this one, and wooden stairs leading down to what can only be the lowest level of this ship, since it's obviously a long enough path to go lower than the prison you previously visited.
You can, in fact, move and attack these guys before they can react. I'll even give you a surprise round. Nicos can also keep his attack roll, of course. But do keep in mind that while this is no galleon, there should be about 15~20 crew members around here... And as far as you know, none of them left the ship. If these guys scream for help, they'll likely have it (although not immediately, since most of their allies should be asleep by now)... Subduing, them, however, can keep them silent (as long as they believe you intend to let them live, of course).

Brother Cyrus
Brother Cyrus watches Kadir's actions with uncertainty... Unsure on how to proceed... He wonders how to help his allies... Either by keeping Eitylen or Tai Leng undetected or by aiding Kadir in his efforts to sneak into the Sea Rat.
Tai Leng |
Leng nonlethally smacks one.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage+Blast: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 11 + (6) + 4 = 23
If that knocks the guy out:
"Make a sound and the next punch kills one of you."
GM Lemmy |
Tai Leng's target is knocked out... He's still conscious... But prone and staggered (0 hp). Eitylen's, however, is still fine.
"You bastards!" shouts one of the men as he pulls a dagger from his belt."You sneaked into the wrong ship!"
Eitylen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
tai Leng: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Sailor 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sailor 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Eitylen
Tai Leng
Sailor 1
Sailor 2
Hey, you get to act first... Technically, they can speak out of turn... But since the first round was a surprise round, I'll be nice and rule that you have another turn before they get to call for reinforcements (or are dissuaded from doing so).
Eitylen's turn.
Tai Leng |
Leng puts his foot on the throat of the man he knocked over.
"Be silent, or I kill him."
"Currently, we just want information. But I'm pissed off enough to throw that out in favor of killing you all if you test me."
Leng casts Mirror Image.
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"We have you outnumbered. Even if you call for help, we'll make certain you die first."
GM Lemmy |
The two men don't attack, but don't lower their guards either... Both of them have their hands at their daggers.
"And what will you do next, mate" speaks one of them with a menacing tone. "Kill us both? Can you do that before any of our brothers comes to our aid? And if you do... Can you kill them all as well?" he points to the door behind him "See that room? That's the crew's deck... Quite a few of our brothers are resting over there!" he grins. "If you kill us, they kill you!"
Eitylen |
We'll see
Move + stab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 291d4 + 4 + 2d8 ⇒ (4) + 4 + (8, 3) = 19
Crit?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 261d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
*it is 1d4+5 of damage
GM Lemmy |
Huh... I thought you'd try to keep them from screaming for help. Oh, well...
The man falls unconscious... Alive, but bleeding profusely.
"YOU STINKIN' SON-OF-B$**%ES! shouts the third man. "WAKE UP, BROTHERS! WE HAVE INTRUDERS! THEY KILLED SLACKER!"
His scream is loud and his dagger is quick...
Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
...but not as quick as Eitylen's reflexes, who put him out of the blade's reach.
You hear confused groans and footsteps coming from the room behind the door. It'll take them a minute to understand what's going on and come for you... But they will certainly come to check what's happening.
i.e.: You have 10 rounds before the rest of these men burst through the door.
Eitylen |
Without more words, Eitylen attack again
Feint: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Stab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Sneak dice?: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 3) = 10
Kadir Drummond |
Kadir looks up and sighs, dropping the keg of black powder. He reaches into his coat and draws his pistol and pepperbox. "Oh no, we're under attack said the deadmen."
How far away is the ship from the dock?
Brother Cyrus |
Brother Cyrus rushes out to the aid of Kadir.
"Ah my good friends hold please! My friend's eccentric horse is a bit dangerous around strangers. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Mayhaps I could interest you in a tale of a legendary pirate, Gold Rogers in recompense?"
"OHHHHHH THERE ONCE WAS A PIRATE NAMED..." Cyrus bursts into the tale without a response from the men.
Fascinate DC19.
GM Lemmy |
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Both men start to pay undivided attention to Brother Cyrus' song...
IIRC, there's a concentration check for casting under extremem weather... But I'll let it slide this time...Mostly because I'm too lazy to look up the rules...
GM Lemmy |
Okay. I can access internet now, although not from home... Hopefully, that too will be back in a day or two.
Oh, BTW, the wharf is 50ft long but the ship is docked alongside it, not at its extreme... So the distance between the ship and the streets is not 50ft... It's about 20ft, which is not by coincidence the distance between the streets and the wharf.
Also, I completely failes to realize it was my turn again...
The remaining pirate slashes at Eitylen, this time with deadly precision.
dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 :(
Only 8 points of damage to Eitylen, then.
Eitylen |
Eitylen wrote:Any idea of Where could be something particularly flammable? You mean besides all the wooden walls, floor and ceiling around you?
Yes
Eitylen |
Nevermind.
Do you know how to swim Tai? that is probably our escape route
Eitylen moves to the room and take a peek bomb in hand.
Kadir Drummond |
Kadir uses the opportunity to light up one of the crossbowmen but he has a hard time aiming in the storm.
rapid shot
pepperbox: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
pepperbox: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
GM Lemmy |

1- I'd like to remind you that there is a storm raging outside, so you might want to consider that before diving into the sea.
2- What room are you entering?Kadir
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Kadir's shot must have been noticed... He sees a couple of torch lights flashing up on the main deck... A man with a varisian accent shouts in surprise... "What was that? Who the hell is shooting?".
The flash of his weapons also breaks the pirates' trance. They stop caring about Brother Cyrus' song and stare angrily at Kadir, pulling their crossbows.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Both bolts miss their mark, although the second one comes pretty close and is only thanks to Kadir's magic that blood wasn't drawn.
Eitylen |
1- I'd like to remind you that there is a storm raging outside, so you might want to consider that before diving into the sea.
Really o_O!!!???, Im missed that part
GM Lemmy |
Sorry... Couldn't post on the weekend... I had a modicum of social life, for a change... XD
Anyway, let's see...
Brother Cyrus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Kadir: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
pirate 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
pirate 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
So it's Kadir -> Pirate 1 -> Brother Cyrus -> Pirate 2... Tai Leng and Eitylen are free of the initiative unless they decide to join combat... Although they are still on a "timer" for when the other priates willr each them. 7 rounds left, BTW.
GM Lemmy |
Tie a rope around him, throw him out, leap onto the wharf and pull him in? That should take 3~4 rounds... Plus however much you take to run away from the ship.:P
Climb DC 15. You can try to leap from the ship to the wharf, though, since the "entrance" you found was higher. Acrobatics DC 15 as well..
In any case, all physical checks suffer a -4 penalty to whoever is carrying the guy.
Eitylen |
Eitylen close the door and then throw a bomb too see if the ship catch in flames, if it does He throw a couple more of bombs and then leave through the window.
GM Lemmy |
The flames catch on, but they are very localized and slow to spread, the moisture and the weather seem to slow them down, but don't stop them.
Tai Leang leaps off the ship with the unconscious pirate on his back. He swiftly lands on the wharf without any problem. When he looks around, he sees Kadir and a coupe pirates shooting each other.
6 rounds
Kadir's turn, BTW... Assuming he wants to stay in-combat.
