One Step Beyond

Game Master Lemmy Z

Welcome to Blue Shell Island - The Land of New Beginnings! Now try to make sure it doesn't bring your end as well... At least, not too soon.

Initiative for Current Combat:

Eitylen
Frederick
Dwarf Priest
Elf Archer
Stone Demon
Staff Orc
Jaazkara
Stone Warrior
Brother Cyrus
Scimitar Human

Round: 7
Current Turn: Eitylen & Frederick

Combat Rules:

Keep in mind that if you're next to each other in Initiative count, you can switch attack order if you want. If you post more or less simultaneously, I'll follow the "official" Initiative order and allow whoever goes second to change his action if something relevant happens (e.g.: the first guy kills the second guy's target).

Additionally, remember that you have 24h before I allow other players to control your character and 48h before I simply skip your turn. Similarly, if I don't post a creature's actions for 48h, you are allowed to consider I skipped its turn.

Last, but not least.. If I have to allow others to control your character or skip your turn twice in a row, I'll start allowing other players to decide your character's actions as soon as your turn comes up for the rest of the combat. I'll still wait 48h before skipping your turn, though.

If you would, please.

Game Master 20

Very well. I'm not a fan of controlling PCs because it's difficult to keep GM/PC knowledge apart... So I'll just control Eitylen in combat. In other situations, either you control him or he just follows you silently and makes no suggestions.

Game Master 20

BTW, guys, do keep track of your rounds of Rage/Bardic Performance/whatever. They have their own bar in Roll20 (under the HP bar).

You should keep them updated in your character profile as well.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

So, if the houserules regarding proficient armor state that you dont suffer ACP or speed reduction, that basically makes armor training obsolete, correct? Other than the increase to Dex bonus that is. Which is a moot point for a barb-based character. If so, may I swap it out for something more out-of-combat useful?

Armor Training is relevant for some of his homebrewed Fighter Feats, as I recall.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

Ah, ok. I'll reread the whole houserule guide this time. I may have missed other things as well. And thanks for the ACP info, I must have overlooked it because it was hiding near the bit about ASF

Figured I'd post since I just thought of it again (I explained this to Scavion a few days ago, and figured other people might have the same question).

In case anyone has been wondering about Frederick's seeming attitude shifts, Frederick basically has two "personalities".

There is normal Frederick, the kind-hearted, somewhat too naive and trusting "stranger in a strange land".

Then there is Frederick when he's Centered, who is much more clinical and focused on the most efficient path to whatever goal he's focused on. Centered Frederick is not kind-hearted. Though neither is he cruel, just expedient.

In alignment terms, I'd peg "normal" Frederick as Neutral Good, and "Centered" Frederick as True Neutral or Lawful Neutral.

Game Master 20

Sorry, guys... My internet is off. It should be back in a couple days...

:/

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

I wanna go but weekdays I get out at 7pm...which is another two hours for me. Cant see the battlemap on my phone.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

BEHOLD!?!!

Game Master 20

Huh... I thought you lived in the east coast...

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

Texas actually.

Game Master 20

Ah, now that you say it... I do recall you mentioning it before!

Scavion wrote:

I'm so sorry.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

*Septid chuckles audibly*

Male Human Dungeon Master 10/ Munchkin 10

Hey... Texas is the America of America!

Game Master 20

BTW, guys... If you have a situational bonus, you can just add a note about it next to your roll.

e.g.: Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 (+2 vs Fear)

If the bonus is situational enough that I might have forgotten where it comes from, you can add the name of the ability as well...

Game Master 20

BTW, I updated the Campaign's Rules & Guidelines doc with the changes we discussed a while ago (such as removing the auto-confirm from nat 20) and added a little more information to the List of Notable NPCs and Locations.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

I assume most if not all of you will agree with me when I say that I don't think it's necessarily an evil act to eat the corpses of other intelligent Humanoids. Especially in the case of tribal or primitive cultures who may do it out of ritual for honor or those that do so out of necessity. Or those that practice some kind weird "communal-life-cycle"(or whatever)beliefs. And with the stated lack/minimization of alignment I figure it was an acceptable character moment.

Game Master 20

Sorry, Jaazkara is now the epitome of Evil and will be constantly harassed by Paladins who Smite first and ask later. XD

- - -

Seriously, though... I don't think cannibalism per se is Evil... It just depends on the circumstances of it. Eating a heart as a tribute to fallen enemies may be okay, killing someone just so you can eat their heart is not. And so on... I even made an argument similar to yours a couple weeks ago in one thread or another...

But again, I really don't give a flying f#&+ about alignment and would rather completely remove it from the game. ><'

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

Well good. I've had the conversation before as well. But the other GM was not nearly as understanding.

Who knows if I'm understanding? Maybe I just happen to agree with you... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! (that's supposed to be an evil lauugh, BTW)

Exactly.

Game Master 20

BTW... "GM Lemmy" is now my alias with most posts! Currently beating Korak by 7 posts! :)

I miss Korak, though... :(

Korak sucked and nobody liked him, boo Korak

On a more serious note, even if Nicos WASN'T gone (leaving Korak as LITERALLY THE ONLY CHARACTER), I still have no clue where to take Myrial from where we left it.

I'm the best! No one beats me!!! KORAK IS THE STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!!!

(Also... Didn't we have a 3rd player?)

Gark dropped, and IIRC Scavion stopped playing in that one too, right?

IIRC, both Scavion and Nicos were still playing when the campaign entered indefinite hiatus.

Yessir, Talryn Ironflesh was pretty damn active up to and after his death.

"What's with you and anthropophage lizards? :P"

I blame a childhood spent often hungry, playing Nethack and other Rogue-Like games, and a profound RL respect for the sacred Hunter-Prey bond that is all but eliminated from modern society. When I hunt in RL, I eat the raw hearts to commune with my prey and thank it for its sacrifice.

And at the risk of sounding completely bat-s~!% crazy, I also form the bones and teeth into tools or little knick-knacks, the furs into leather or fabric, and the offal into lures and bait. I still have a small blanket made from a deer pelt. I give other nature enthusiasts most of the stuff I craft.

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

I can attest to that. That snakeskin woulda been a cool headband!

Male Human Dungeon Master 10/ Munchkin 10

That's... different. But we all have our habits and hobbies.

I wouldn't consider you crazy for that... Even if I did, I honestly don't care what bat-s@+* crazy insanity anyone likes, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else or their rights.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

I applaud and share that worldview. And thanks Scavion. I mostly do it to be a little closer to our primal roots without actual primal violence, and I feel if you slay something for food you should utilize all of it that you are able.

I'm not sure what's supposed to be considered so weird about eating organ meat anyway. It's a delicacy most places.

Male Human Dungeon Master 10/ Munchkin 10

I have a friend and who adds ketchup to pizza... It's hard to consider anything crazy after seeing that. :P

Sundakan wrote:

Technically, every meat is organ meat. ;)

Game Master 20

BTW, Scavion... Add Brother Cyrus' "passive skill checks" bonuses somewhere easy to find in his character profile, like Jaazkara and Frederick did.

That reminds me... Sundakan, I think there is an specific field for your character's languages. No need to add them in the big "About..." field. ^^

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

Frikken phone ate a huge story telling post. Auuuugh!

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

I too have felt that pain.

Game Master 20

Ah, you forgot the 2nd rule of posting...

1- Always copy before clicking "Post"
2- Don't make long posts from your phone.

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

But I have SO much free time at work...despite my boss telling me to get off my phone and work!

Game Master 20

Key word is "long". You can still make short posts... Or figure a way to copy your text on your phone, so you don't lose it all by accident.

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

Well I finally got around to adding those passive skills to my character Hehe.

Game Master 20

Slow day for PbP...

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

It's quiet...TOO quiet.

Game Master 20

Weekends are kinda slow. People usually have other plans... Mos people, that is. I spent my weekend playing Street Fighter V and following the news about the protests in Brazil.

Male Half-Vampire Human Sorcerer 14/Power Slave 10

Ah, Street Fighter. Is V one of the 3-d ones?

Male Human Dungeon Master 10/ Munchkin 10
Septid Corrialanis wrote:

It's the latest one, so... Yeah. 3D in graphicsonly, though, it retains the 2D gameplay, just like SF4.

I always loved this series, but SFV is definetely my favorite so far (but I'll have a special place in my heart for SFII).

Male Goblin Vivisectionist Trap Breaker 10

Hah! The best archetype in Ultimate Intrigue for Rogues gives up almost all of the Rogue Talents till like 12th level for a luck bonus to saves, getting the Steal feats and a bonus to bluff and sleight of hand. Shame about losing trapfinding since most folks will pass it over because MUH TRAPS

Is it worth buying? The Vigilante was a good idea in the Playtest but man did it need some polish.
