Leralt Littlehorn |
Well lets see whats the basics. The walls need to be repaired thats a given. A watchtower with a signal bell that should be maned at all times with a good amount of cover, so those scouting cant be sniped before they raise the alarm, would be good to keep watch around the settlement area. Only need one tower for now if it is tall enough, bullseye and hooded lanterns a must. A food and water storage area, armory would be good too. Maybe a few simple traps, too bad we lost our druid, could have planted some poison ivy or other poisonous plants at the base of the walls.
Leralt and Gellius' new home needs minor work so thats not really an issue. Need to contact our digging friend see if he is willing to do some tunnel work for us.
Well let me know if anything among my ramblings is useful or agreeable. ;)

Lena would push for the temple to be prioritised as Abadar is the main reason we are all here. Other than that I think physical defences and food/water production and storage should be most important.
Walls, signals, militia training, granaries, temple would be my vote
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Okay, sounds good. Then without any supervision, that will be their priority list: Defense, housing then food storage.
So, what sort of supplies would you like to take on your mission of Bone Taker aggression?
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
So is everyone good with waiting a day? Will you leave tomorrow? Or wait and leave the morning after tomorrow?
Mevakh Ahrask |
With my upcoming move to Homicide and murder investigations, I need to cut down as much as possible on my gaming. I've enjoyed playing Mevakh and his interactions with the others. I hope that he can become a trusted NPC in my absence, perhaps as a bodyguard for the mayor or a dedicated protector of the town.
Best of luck, guys! Enjoy the game.
Dr. Catila Eyesquint |
Awww, Mevakh was our Solid Rock. But, I guess the silver lining is that the colony will certainly be better off with at least one strong protector left behind whenever we venture off.
Can't think of anything at the moment that Catila woudl want added. And she's good to go, today or the next day. Just some food and shelter if we're gonna be gone long.
oh! Wait one thing she would add is a cure for the disease! And, some form of protection/guard on the trapdoor to the secret workrooms and the angel. And also perhaps someone trusted to go visit with and keep the angel company once in a while? Mevaakh would be perfect for that of course.

Gonna miss you Mevakh! Good luck with your new position at work!
Regarding equipment, I'm fine with the group leaving the next day. Songan has five days of trail rations to eat on him, which I'd hope is enough. We can make use of the Glowing Glove to help keep track of where they're going in one-day intervals.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Attrition is always a constant in PbP games. It can't be helped, it just happens when a long term game comes up against the real world. I've felt very fortunate that most of our attrition came with people who let me know that they would be dropping out. That is a great thing to do and unfortunately not as common as one would hope.
Leralt Littlehorn |
I just got to say this is getting nuts borderline annoying. Can we deal with one thing at a time without finding a dozen new things. I mean correct me if I am wrong. But we have the bone takers playing dangerous tricks on us and sideing with the daemon worshiper. We have a deadline until war with the guardians. A treaty process with the people. A soul eating undead disease to cure, making little progress mind you. A town to rebuild and make safe as well as self sustaining. A daemon prison to find/fix. And now we got freakin robots and such.
Personally I feel like we are running aimlessly from one thing to the next getting little to nothing done. Have we done anything but add to our troubles sense we got here. Cause the way it looks it seems like the island is not worth the trouble, just rebuild the ship and head back home seems like the best thing.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Indeed, what you're learning is the island has a delicate network of relationships already, into which you've been thrown. So far you've made an ally of the People, but you're still discovering that the other groups have secrets of their own. Leralt, if you'd like to sway the gnome's attitude toward you, I need a diplomacy check.
Leralt Littlehorn |
Yeah even if I got a nat 20 the highest I can get is 19. Which unless he is indifferent, doubtful at this point. I can never improve his attitude. Our "face" for some reason never bothered to try diplomacy. Which I find kinda funny sense she gave me an earful about just that not too long ago. ;)
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
I think Catila's computer problems have definitely hindered you guys. Which is why I haven't had the thing attack you yet... It's still determining the threat level... And waiting for Catila's computer problems to get resolved. ;)

Diplomacy! Pah! *reloads crossbow*
Leralt, don't forget your -10 for using Diplomacy as a full round action ;)
Personally I enjoy having lots of factions to work with, it reminds me of my campaigns.
I will say this though: the robo-gnomes are crazy weird
Also, is it a new initiative round? should I take my turn?
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
You mean Gilligan the Mighty, 17th level Barbarian and life-mate to the Skipper, 16th level Witch? They're on the other island, with the Others and the nuclear sub and the statue with six toes.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |
No, he's claiming to be the original mayor AND the guy who discovered the island.
Edit: Dammit. I realized what I did. I put the wrong name in there. Sonuva. Way to scratch the landing, James...
Sorry for that. And now it's too late to change. Argh!
Gellius Krupt |
Thanks. :)
I wasn't even aware that Gellius had gone with the bunch taking the sick to the Collective. Although even if I am there, I can't throw any bombs. I'm a vivisectionist; I give that up for sneak attack. I'll gladly poison the hell out of people though.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
You should take a photo of him and STEAL HIS SOUL!
Wait, wait. Don't do that.
Wait until someone else is disqualified and then STEAL HIS SOUL!
Gellius Krupt |
Nah, that won't do a damn bit of good. Nothing but hokum mumbo-jumbo. My advice if you do enter:Wow awesome Shadowborn/Gellius/whoeverthehellyouare!
I'm thinking of entering next year, if I touch you will I absorb some of your power?
- Read the rules, all of the rules.
- Read Sean's advice thread(s)
- Look at the Top 32 entries from past years and see what's already been done before.
- The first rule about your RPG Superstar item: Don't talk about your RPG Superstar item.
A good majority of my voting time was spent facepalming over how many people obviously didn't do any of the first three things on my list.
