Bollwerk |
Posted at work, sorry, Bollwerk is also at full health, no need to use LoH. He still has 2 uses left. Also we did not distribute the potions He would ask Kazul and Dieter take one each.
Farasha Aeval |
Seeing as Kazul has listened to Bollwerk's suggestion, Farasha will also wait too. She lowers her bow to point at the floor, but keeps an arrow nocked and an eye on the door.
Well this is slightly nerve-wracking, they could be getting dug in behind those doors she winces. Glancing up at the heavens and seemingly uncaring that they lay so far above, she quietly intones
Blessed Desna, please see fit to make our enemies bored and get wanderlust, deserting their posts to come in search of the intruders instead of staying behind their cover
she smiles
...and come to think of it, judging from our last fight a bit of help aiming this bow wouldn't go amiss either...

Three copper bowls filled with glowing coals hang from the ceiling of this long, natural cavern. The braziers fill the chamber with warmth and soft orange light. In the center of the chamber stands a block of stone that serves as a table, lined with wooden chairs. An enormous bloodstain, maybe a week old, darkens the stone’s surface.
As the door opens, two javelins are hurled from behind the table. One skitters harmlessly along the floor, the other tears wood splinters from the doorframe.
A strong female voice calls out from behind the improvised barrier. "Surrender now fools! And we will give you a quick death in the name of our Lord Baphomet!"
Round 1: (A)Kazul, Dieter; cultist; leader; (B)Farasha, Bollwerk; Mongrels; (C)Fabian and Lucille. This is a complex one, so watch the map and your ally's posts.
Old Guy GM |
Kazul misses.
Dieter steps in and to the side, hurling a chakram at one of the mongrels. The weapon misses, caroming off of the stone table.
The cultist raises her holy symbol and speaks a few words under her breath. A pulse of power emanates from her. Channel Neg Energy = 4 pts for Dieter, Kazul, 2 pts for Bollwerk.
The leader hefts her glaive. "So have the eyes of Baphomet seen you, so shall ye be judged." She intones. Her strike at Kazul chips stone away from the table as her cut misses.
Group B; lets get this rolling!
Bollwerk |
Hearing the blasphemous words spoken, Bollwerk counters."By Iomedeas light, fear not, you will face judgement. MY JUDGEMENT!"
Swift action. Declaring holy smite on the leader.Move action Move to W 37, Ac normal 20, Ac against leader 23 and striking the follower straight ahead. attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 231d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Farasha Aeval |
Farasha bolts after the warriors, managing to get inside the room and assess the situation quickly. Despite the cover provided by the table she feels its better to focus attacks on one target, so draws a bead on the follower Bollwerk has already injured.
Move to W36
longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 3
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Alas the arrow skitters across the table and smashes in to the wall.
Old Guy GM |
The mongrels stab with their spears at Bollwerk, but his shield turns the blows aside.
Lucille steps to the barricade and fires, her musket hitting the wounded mongrel in the face, nearly taking his head off.
Fabian moves into the room, and with a gesture, puts up the last of his Arcane Wards. +1 AC for any PCs within 10'
Sorry that took so long. New Round: Group (A), go!
Dieter Stolzdorf |
Dieter moves to flank the cult leader [move action to U40], and tries to skewer her in the back [standard action].
Targer U39
rapier 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d6 ⇒ 1
Farasha Aeval |
Is it the cultist and the leader now or have we moved to PCs then enemies? (in which case sorry for holding things up!)
Farasha Aeval |
Spotting the enemy now standing unprotected by the table and broadening her stance, Farasha again draws back her bow and lets fly, praying under her breath that this time her point will find enemy flesh.
Aiming at U38
longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
OMG the dice gods *hate* this character... :'(
Old Guy GM |
"Aggghh!" screams the leader in pain as Bollwerk smites her.
The last remaining mongrel steps to Kazul's right side stabbing with his spear. The point gashes his arm, 4 pts Kaz spilling blood on the hard packed dirt floor.
Fabian steps forward, a bit dubiously, trying to bring his AC Ward to as many as he can.
Lucille steps forward to clear her shot, and reloads her musket.
Round 3 Group A...Go!!!
Old Guy GM |
Once again the cultist raises her unholy symbol, summoning the dark energy of her faith.
2 pts everyone except Fabian who takes 4.
The leader laughs. "What is your god but a fool who touched a stone! Where is she now, paladin? Kenabres burns, and your precious Lady does nothing!" She hacks at Bollwerk, the gleam of the torchlight burns along the edge of her blade as she cuts deep into his side.
Oooh crit time. 12 points Bollwerk.
Group B, then mongrel.
Farasha Aeval |
No matter how tightly you clench your tyrannical fist over the hearts of others, you cannot crush the hope of a better future. We live in that inextinguishable hope, and so we will always be here to oppose you. You will never win.
Farasha switches her aim to the leader, mouthing a prayer that this arrow will fly true.
longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15

Old Guy GM |
Farasha's arrow glances harmlessly off of the armor of the leader, but it is no protection from Iomedae's righteous might. Bollwerk's thrust takes her in the abdomen, piercing her through and through. Stunned, she looks down at the killing blow, then back into the eyes of the paladin.
"You may have slain me, but your victory is short lived. Demons stalk the streets of your precious city now, and when Staunton finds you...you...will be..." She dies, her last thoughts unspoken.
Lucille's musket roars, the round taking the cultist full in the chest, blowing a large hole through her. The impact throws her against the wall, dead. Another crit: x4 for musket = 40 pts!
The remaining mongrel throws down his weapons and sues for mercy.
Combat over.
Bollwerk |
Lowering his sword and offering a quick prayer of thanks to the lady of valor Bollwerk looks at the others, checking for wounds. "Farasha, can you offer us one of your channelings? Kazul could you and Dieter check for valuables? Fabian, can you please check for magical auras? Lucille, I would like to bind the survivor and then escort to the other mongrel. They shall judge him."
Farasha Aeval |
I regret to inform you Bollwerk but I expended my channeling energy above after the last fight. I have one last spell I can use to heal should anyone be in dire need, but if we are all upright and just battered then I would rather save it for dire need.
She examines the area and helps Kazul and Dieter with collecting anything of value and piling it next to the table.

The room you are in.
The room to the south.
Old blood stains the floor of this small cavern. Barrels filled with scraps of fur and fat sit against one wall, emitting an foul stench. The two long stone slab tables are covered with skinning tools and piles of freshly butchered meat. Two wooden racks hold drying animal skins. The mongrels use this chamber to process their food— normally giant rats, fish, giant vermin, and other cave creatures, but a search of the room reveals numerous body parts of other mongrels and even a few human limbs in various stages of butchery.
On the southwestern slab, A masterwork dagger that’s been used as a cleaver is wedged in between the ribs of a butchered dire rat.
The room to the north.
A stone pedestal holds a copper brazier aloft in the center of this room. Against the western wall, an enormous pile of animal furs and thick quilts serves as a bed. Sheathed weapons and stone carvings adorn the walls. The eastern half of the room holds a wooden desk, beneath which stands a long, thin iron lockbox.
On the desk sits a letter, handwritten on a brittle sheet of parchment.
Loot is on the Discussion Tab.
Farasha Aeval |
Trusting the others to look after the rest, Farasha glances over the letter, taking great care not to damage it.
She'll also take the brass key from the leader and try it on the lockbox.
Old Guy GM |
The box opens without issue. There is a small leather pouch with an assortment of semi-precious gemstones worth 210 gp. There is a scroll of Bear's Endurance, a scroll of Remove Disease. There is also a long, thin darkwood sword case.
Inside is a breathtaking longsword - a weapon of obviously superior craftsmanship with a razor-sharp blade that appears to be made of shining gold. The symbols of Iomedae are beautifully crafted into the grip, tang, and blade.
Kn: History, anyone?
